《DK (Dropped)》 Nulla I woke up in a room. It was definitely not mine, as moving my arms around to see if I bumped into any of my belogings to check my location, but nothing, it was so dark, so I assumed that me dreaming was the answer. "It was just another regular day in DK`s life, but, he was in a dark room, not his room, he could not even see the exit." (I wonder, what is that?) Out of nowhere, a random floating shiny blue light appeared. "Suddenly a light appeared out of nowhere, so shiny, too bad it was blue..." "Excuse me, but what are you doing?" (Blue Light) (So now light''s have a mouth and are able to speak? A ghost it is!) "Narrating, have you not heard of it? Hum?" In an ironic manner I answered the light. The blue light slightly moved around my body, its movement seemed very gentle. It paused its movement right on my front. "I know what narrating is, but why are you doing it? Nevermind that! Why aren''t you asking questions about whom I am or where you are? This is not how it normally goes!" (Blue Light) (Why do I get the feeling of being forced to follow a script?) "Fine, what kind of ghost are you? Where am I?" I promptly asked. (Want to bet the next thing it will want, is for me to ask if fire is hot?) "I am a God, specifically, a God of reincarnation," The blue light said with hight pride. "This is a temporal space available for both of us, on wich will be decided your future life in a fantasy world different from the one you were born." (Does he not have a name? Let me guess. This is the part where he says that I am getting something special like a sword or skill?) "You died prematurely, the heart attack that you had, was meant for someone else, as an apology you will be granted 3 skills or powers." (If only I had this luck with the lottery back on Earth, wait a minute, how the fuck does one get someone else''s supposed heart attack?) "So I get 3 wishes? Awesome!" I literally started to banana dance the second I heard three and skills glued together while interrupting the God''s speech. "Yes, I know it is a shock, please under... awesome? " Interrupted mid sentence, the god was confused for a second. "Uh, well, yes, you may call it 3 wishes, but are you not worried about your family and friends?" Support the creativity of authors by visiting Royal Road for this novel and more."I am not worried, they are far better without me..." I told the blue light while I sat on sieza position. "So, my first wish is to have 3 more wishes!" (DK) "I regret that it is not possible!" Said the blue light God. "Please think of something else to ask, it is obvious that asking for more things does not count." (Lets try this then!) "Very well, then first, I want to be a skeleton, as a skeleton I will not die of old age, will not rot, after breaking something of my body, I can simply re attache it like legos and of course, I will be weak against light or fire." "Seems fair, first wish granted!" God proudly agreed. "What about the second one?" "For the second wish, I request that all languages are auto-translated when I ear or talk with other people, animals and races." (DK) "Wonderful, it will save you the trouble of learning new languages, Second wish granted!" (God) The blue light God thought. (At first, I thought he would ask for powerfull weapons or ultimate defenses, but his 2 first powers have either a major weakness or have at most no effect at all so I will accept the third one even if it''s an extreme power for fighting!) "My third and final wish is to be able to learn any skill I want, but to be fair..." I kept speaking with a politely tone but decided to take a slight breath. "every skill will be divided into three categories, weak, good, strong, on wich each will take from one, three or seven days to learn." I took a second breath. "And to make it fair, every strong skill will have one weakness wich I will decide!" I took third breath, held my position and waited for Gods answer. (Oh my, at first I thought he was going to ask for something powerfull, but even his strong skills will have weaknesses?!?) Thought God with pride at my requests that sounded fair and square. "Third Wish Granted!" Said the blue light God "Now, before I send you to the fantasy world, I am sure you should at least want me to inform you of the basic countries, communities and locations!"exclaimed God. I was surprised that this God had agreed to my requests. (I did not expect for a God to fall for this trick so easily, Is he new at this? Or were the previous reincarnated people really dumb enough to not think twice about what they wanted?) "Thank you, but no, I hate spoilers, please let me find it all out by myself!" (DK) "Very well." God so humbly said to me as a vortex opened beneath my feet, swallowing me in. "Good luck!" To me, he shouted. Without having time to say thank you or good bye, to a new world I departed. Chapter I - Rising I abruptly woke up, it was all dark again. (I wonder, is this the new fantasy world that GOD told me about? Why is it so dark?) "Hello!" I shouted, "Is anyone there?" There was no answer and I felt something weird, this was not like the previous dark room. (At least I can talk, regarding my body, I still feel my head, my arms, hands and legs) "Why does my body feel so heavy?" I mumbled while trying to move. Yes, I could move, but barely, it was like I had something heavy on every part of my body. (C¡¯mon, DK, think!) And then, I came to realize, it was so simple. "I spawned buried underground?" I shouted, "Damn it, not even in a coffin? How am I supposed to breathe?" I felt like having a panic attack. (Wait a minute, actually it has been more than a minute since I woke up?) "So, I really have become undead, a skeleton." These were the words that I mumbled so calmly. (I wonder if this is the reason I feel so comfortable, or at least, don''t feel bothered at all being underground) I moved my hands and for some reason, my fingers felt sharp, or at least strong because they were the part of my body that had the most movement. "Well, time to try this!" I loudly declared while excavating my way up. Pushed the dirt out of my way, it felt like some sort of swimming style but with more strength, heavier and slower. With the repeated low noises of dirt moving and the clashing of bones with a repeated "Crick" sound, I dug up to 4 meters, or at least thats what it felt like. Then I felt it, when doing another push to the top with my right hand, that exact movement felt lighter compared to the previous ones. (Oh my! Is this the surface?!?) Excited in my thoughts, my strongest push was made, at that moment not only my right hand but also my entire arm was out, wich then helped free my entire upper body into the surface. With the sound of a tiny earthquake, I could see the surface. The first thing I saw, was the beautiful full moon of pure white. Thanks to the moonlight, it was easier to see my surroundings. My location was on the top of a single hill full of grass and bellow, a massive forest surrounded this same hill. The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation. "So this is where I got reborn ." I said with an appreciated tone, as I felt most of the remaining dirt falling off my body, making it more light. And like I was getting out of a pool through a ladder, I used my arms to push my remaining buried body, only to remain squatting, like a monkey. With my thoughts and movements, I tried to confirm it. (My head is a skull, or at least, feels like it) Then a sudden move of my right hand to my top back head. (No hair? Oh wait, skeletons dont have hair right? Well, most of them, I remenber there was one with afro...) Suddenly I shouted. "No eyes? What the fuck is this?" (This makes no sense does it? How can I see with no eyes?!?) This is what I thought while fingering my eye socket area. A sudden laugh came out of my mouth "Muahahaha!" and my whole body was trembling, it was all "crack, crack, crack" sounds. "Shouldn''t I be scared? Why do I feel amused?" I laugh and trembled. It took me a few minutes for me to calm down. I was still in the same position but with less dirt covering my body. "Well, as much as I enjoy being in this place" I mumbled. "It is time for a walk!" It took me a few seconds, but there I was, standing like a regular person with the exception of the constant cracking sounds. (This body seems to at least hold on its own despite the weird noises.) And so, I took my first step, not a big one, just the average step, very slow with the final "crack" sound at the stepping into the grass. (No bones broken yet, seems to be holding good!) Two Hours passed with a couple of new steps and I was walking like a normal, skeleton? "Ready to walk! Maybe even run!" I said so to myself before the "Help! Help me!" scream came from the forest down the hill. (So this world is giving me entertainment already!) Without a second thought after this one, I ran towards the screaming sound, not a normal running. More like a clown running with a constant "crack, crack, crack" sound. Chapter II - Spiders and Wasps I kept running, even if I looked like a fool towards that scream, while passing trough the huge trees. (Wait a minute, what am I doing?) I thought. (What am I? A clich¨¦ dumbass?) I suddenly stopped, thinking about it straight, but even knowing the frail body that I had, my strength to see what was happening was stronger than my fear of death, because after all, I am an Undead. So I crouched and walked into the same direction. Little by little, I started to ear more noises. "cha-ching, clank, bzzzt, cha-ching, clank," It sounded like melee weapons clashing. (If its a battle, I cannot miss it!) I walked 12 meters more ans the sounds were getting bigger. Approach the location I did, hidding behind a huge tree that had two bushes to its right. (It seems the battle is just after this tree, good thing the shadows of these huge trees pretty much cover most of the moonlight!) Crouching behind the bushes, I pushed both a bit to the side, so I could see what was happening. There I saw it, 2 groups fighting each other. (That looks like a wasp? And a Spider?) These spiders had four legs and four arms, the upper pair of arms on top looked so bulky, with strong muscles and claw hands of three fingers, while the lower second pair were skinnier with scythes of a mantis. They had black fur on their legs, back and hair. Their head had eight black eyes and 4 chelicerae wich each holds a sharp fang. The wasps, with their wings on the back, their body colored black yellow, had wasp heads and were same height of the spiders. (Yes, totally they look like wasps!) The exception compared to Earth Wasps was their size and that they seemed to walk with two legs while using four arms like a human, but these compared to the spiders, looked so much skinnier. While the spiders were fighting bare handed, the wasps were using shields, swords and spears. (I will watch a bit more until I decide what to do?) Thats what I thought, because there''s a chance that these two groups might hate skeletons. Two wasp warriors laid down dead, with orange blood still coming out from their bodies spreading on the grass, alongside them, three dead spiders shared their deadly ground with blue blood. There were three wasps alive, one with the shield and a sword, another with 1 spear, the third one had two swords, 1 huge scar across its left eye and a piece of cloth that served as a cape. I assumed the third one was their leader, they were facing seven spiders. One of the spiders rushed to the shield wasp, "cha-ching" one of the spiders scythes almost hit, but the wasp barely made to shield it. "Pow!" The top strong spider arm punched the shield and started to push it. To hold the enemy, the wasp had to use 3 of its arms just to hold the shield, but even the pressure was so great that the shield seemed like it was about to crack. The second wasp was in no better situation, it alone was trying to hold off two of the spiders with just a spear, for some reason, of the wasp group, it was the only one flying. Their leader was tired, always pausing to take a breath, it seemed like he was taking the bulk of the enemy. A third spider rushes to him, "ching, squeak" only to find the blade of the wasps warrior on its head. Suddenly Fourth spider jumps into the leader attempting to kill him, but he failed, the beast was cut by the sword and three of its legs separated from its body. "grrrakk, grrrakk, grrrakk" As the leader wasp exhausted, took another breath, only to open an opportunity open for the fifth spider, wich rushed the wasp, swinging one of his arms, not only the leader''s sword flew away, but also the wasp''s arm that was ripped off. Stolen content warning: this tale belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences elsewhere. This was the Last stand of the three wasp warriors, with five enemies remaining. The leader suddenly shouted with all his lungs "Protect the Princess! She is our future!" And while doing so, he positioned his back towards... (Towards the tree right next to me? Princess? What is he talking about?) I was so much focused on the battle, that I failed to notice, that 2 meters to my left, right on the front of the tree was another wasp. There she was, their so-called Princess, who laid down unconscious. (Princess, saving Princess equals some sort of profit?) Not going to lie, just imagine the most greedy smile a skeleton could do. "Dumb fucking spiders! Leave my territory at once or face my wrath!" The huge shout was launched from the bushes, my roar of war echoed troughout the forest. At that moment I stood up with my arms open, pretending that my hands were claws and as tall as two spiders. I froze for a few seconds, because yet again, because of the battle, I did not notice another important thing. (I spent this time crouched thinking that these mobs were the same size as a human, but all this time they are only half my size!) Both wasps and spiders stoped the fight. Both groups were just staring at me. I Did not spoke more words, "clack" I took one step forward, "clack" took a second step. 2 seconds later, the spiders simply ran away, (I wonder if skelephobia is a thing on this world?) Thats what I thought about the spiders upon seeing them escape, the wasps warriors in the other hand, were facing their weapons at me. "Don''t you dare touch the princess! You beast!" Shouted the wasp leader. "Face the wrath of my spear if you do!" Screamed the wasp warrior with the spear. (I saved you and this is what I get? I guess it doesn''t count as saving since Im unknow to them and they might think I am hunting both spiders and wasps?) So, in the end, the answer was easy. I faced the wasp leader and stated "The one with the scar, do you have no manners? If you want to ask something on someone when you are trespassing on their backyard, do it politely!" (Yes, I was born just today, saying that this area belongs to me sounds like bullshit, but in no way i am letting these guys know of it, the "I was not born yesterday" still applies on this situation!) Here I was, thinking what to do, waiting for the wasps answer, will it be delivered by their mouths or weapons? The wasp with the shield, wich was silent at first, took a step forward. "Pl-Please don''t harm our Princess!" He said while holding his sword and shield. (Fuck yeah! Oh wait, keep the posture) I answered with a robotic answer "Very well." as I turned back and returned to the hill from where I was born. "Is he gone?" The wasp leader inquired his comrades. "Yes, he is walking away!" Said wasp warrior with the spear while flying above the two bushes. "What do we do now? What if the Arach return?!?" Asked the worried wasp with a shield."If they come back, we will not survive! And the princess..." Grabbing his second sword, "We cannot return..." The leader mumbled, thinking on what to do. "Take my second sword for now!" declared the leader as he gave it to the shield wasp. With one arm he held his first sword, with the other 2 he picked up and held the unconscious princess. "For now, lets stick with that Beast, he does not seem hostile, better him than those dumb eight leg trash!" Presumed the leader. As I reached the top of the hill, I sat down, thinking. (Fantasy world with spiders and wasps humanoids, I wonder what other creatures will I find?) There I was, looking up again at the beautiful moon. "Bzzzt" That was the sound that I heard, it was the wings of a wasp. I looked down the hill, there they were, the three warriors and their princess coming into my home. Chapter III - Weird Thoughts The three wasps warriors finally reached the top of the hill, standing 3 meters right before me. Their leader was still holding their princess. (Are they going to say something?) I thought they wanted something from me. A few more seconds passed, and yet nothing. (Do I look like a poisonous snake?) They were afraid, afraid of not the question nor the answer, but of the outcome. "Pl-Please hel..." The shield wasp tried to say. Before he could end his sentence, I raised my hand, meaning I wanted them to be quiet, and to listen carefully. "Hear me first!"I asked."Entering my homeland without my permission!" I said while increased my voice, "Threatening me after saving you!"I shouted."And now bringing your problems to me?"I stated. The three wasps looked at me, they seemed ready to beg, to implore. They mumbled, trying to find the correct words to say. With a sudden move, I put my hand on my chin, thinking and planning. (I could swear for a second that when I moved my hand, they were prepared to run away! Well! The ingredients have been mixed, the cake has been cooked, time to take it out of the oven!) "But since that little one has been polite" I stated while pointing to the shield wasp, "I will help you!" while opening my right hand making a good gesture, "But I have 1 rule!" I increased voice while showing 1 finger. The wasps stared at me, awaiting for the answer as I deliberately waited 3 seconds to continue. "My word, in this land is LAW!" I shouted as it was meant for the entire forest to ear. My plan worked, the three wasps nodded with their heads. "Now come here, tell me what you want." I said while pointing to the ground on my front, right next to my feet. At the start they stood still, but their leader stepped forward. Then he laid down their princess on the grass, sat next to her, wich was right on my front and 1 meter away. The two wasps also came near and sat right behind him, the shield to the left and the spear to the right. "Please listen to me Great Beast!" Spoke the leader. "Our Hive was destroyed in the war against the Arach, the creatures you saved us from." He stated. "We are the only ones that survived the war and our princess is the only one capable of giving birth to our future generation! We will do as you say" So please! Can you ensure the protection of your princess?" The wasp leader begged to me. I could have said no, but at that moment I felt that the answer was to simply nod my head in agreement. (Why nod? I don''t know, just feels more mysterious, besides, a simple "yes I will help you" is a clich¨¦ and lame to me!) Weird thought but who cares? (Besides, If I show too much trust or kindness, it can lead to weakness, jealousy and betrayal!) I had a say in my previous life, most of the times in the long run, it is best to slay the princess and fuck the dragon. The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation. "Thank you Great Beast!" (Wasp Leader) "Thank you!" (Wasp spearman) "Thank you very much!" (Wasp Shield User) "I advice that all of you rest for now, with the exception of the one with the scar, I need to ask you a few things." (DK) "Of course, Great Beast!" The leader said while nodding to the others to sleep. While the two were sleeping besides the Princess, the leader sat on my right. "I will answer all that I know!" He told me with pride. "First, why do you keep calling me, Great Beast?" (Been wondering about this for a while!) "Because you are a Great Beast? Or am I mistaken?" The leader answered a question with a question. "I do not know what a Great Beast is, I am a Skeleton, do you not know any of my kind?" Answering a question that answered a question with a question. (Yup, going up this road, I wonder if there are trolls in this world, because I was having one of their smiles at the moment...) "Sky-lo-ton? My apologies, I never heard of them, actually... I never saw any of your kind before!" Said the leader while looking at me like I was a rare animal. "I thought you were a Great Beast, because they are rare unique creatures that can do special things, especially when you are able to speak wasps language! Only our kind can do that since we have a special unique feature on our throats!" (Wasp Leader) "No, I am not a Great Beast, I ask you to call me DK, for that is my name!" (DK) (Like seriously, being called Great Beast is weird, well, it would be good if It was by females only, but now it would not make sense since I got nothing but bones down there! Ahah! Bones!) "Yes, of course Great DK!" (Wasp Leader) (It could be worse, it could be Huge instead of Great, imagine the puns?) "Tell me, I heard that Wasps are good at making some sort of shelters, can you make one for me at this place?" (DK) "Well, we can build them out of a special liquid we produce, it makes a decent shelter against rain and we only need to eat a few leaves for it." (Wasp Leader) "Very well, after we are done talking I will sleep beneath the ground I am standing, for it is my bed." I informed the wasp. "I want you to rest and then build up a decent house for me!" I stated with a serious voice, "On wich you must complete before I wake up at sun fall." "W-We will try our best!" (Wasp Leader) "Good!" I raised my hand and pointed to the direction they came. "Also, clean up the bodies, I don''t care about the enemy bodies, just make them disappear, regarding the ones from your comrades, you may deal with them according to your traditions and bring the leftover weapons from your previous engagement." "Thank you for respecting us. We will do everything that you ask!" The wasp said with gratitude. "Get some rest now. I will be underground, do not wake me up if the enemy does not attack!" I warned him. "Yes, of course!" (Wasp Leader) I dug a bit, just enough to cover my entire body, for some reason, I felt like I could only rest underground. (From what I can tell, my first 2 wishes worked, so I am wondering about the third one?) From what I could tell as I was again underground, sleeping was something I could not do. I stared at the earth on top of me, waiting for something to happen. (How can I even close my eyes if I don''t have them?) Then I simply imagined that I closed my eyes... Chapter IV - Using my Third Wish My view was still dark. "Isn''t it not the time for a clich¨¦ npc or something like that to appear?" I stated. Still nothing happened. (Okay, let''s try this! Give me a tab!) I shouted in my thoughts. No tab appeared. (I must be doing something wrong, but the way trough is on trial and error!) (Give me a gray tab!) shouted again in my mind, (Ah, this time it worked!) Actually, it worked the first time. The thing is that the first tab was black. "I guess full customization is the way to go?" I mumble as I was thinking on what to do. In the end, the tab was just a gray square with nothing in it. (Add three sections, each one with the name weak, good, strong...) I paused for a second. (Add a title name for the tab, skills & abilities, give a color to each of the 3 sections!) After it updated. (No dammit! No blue! Replace it with orange now!) Shouting in my mind seemed to work really fast on the tab. It still seemed to bit poor for me. (All current words on Bold and capslock! Ha! Better!) "Now wich skill should I go with first?" (On the first line of each section, add one icon of a green heart with a cross inside it on wich each one will look better on good and even better on strong!) Poof, three icons appeared, each one in the respective section. (Put the following stats on each skill...) The current stats were these. Skill Weak Regeneration - Fast recovery from small wounds, extreme slow recovery time for big wounds. Good Regeneration - Fast recovery from all wounds. Strong Regeneration - Instant recovery time of every wound, can only be used every 7 days. (The important thing is done, only a fucked up would not want regeneration! I should add a few more skills, but I have to keep in mind that they take a while to achieve...) And so I decided to create 2 more skills. (I will add 2 more skills, also I will focus on weak ones as they only take 1 day!) (Do the same as the previous skill with exception of it being teal color, put it next to Regeneration) I waited a few more seconds, as I was trying to think about the third skill. This content has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.(Below the Regeneration skill, add another line for a new skill, on wich it will be an eye!) I do enjoy having some sort of order, so the first line would be for buffs and second one for utilities. Skill Weak Ally Heal - Fast recovery from small wounds, extreme slow recovery time for big wounds. Good Ally Heal - Fast recovery from all wounds, possible growth of a lost body part. Strong Ally Heal - Revive Ally, can only be used every 3 days, skill will not work on allies who died 3 days before revival. Skill Weak Commander Vision - Form basic battle map with allies, requires the user to stay in one position. Good Commander Vision - Form medium battle map with allies, 50% chance of showing neutrals and enemies, requires the user to stay in one position. Strong Commander Vision - Form Strong battle map with allies, neutrals and enemies, requires the user to stay in one position, not usable for user if in direct combat. (Some would ask why I made this commander vision skill, well, simply because, I can use it when sleeping and its the best skill against traitors and spies!) I was really proud of this skill, while I still wanted to get some good attacks, my priority was regeneration. (Start working on Weak Regeneration!) I was screaming to the floating tab, but nothing changed on it. (All ongoing and completed skills will have a white line surrounding their icon. Also add a timer on top left screen please, purple for now!) With the basics done, I could finally rest and think of other things. But then, something surprised me. On top left of the tab, "Weak Regeneration ETA: 6 Hours" "How is that even possible? Maybe it also adds the time since I was born? Thats the only explanation, right?" I mumbled to myself. (The other answers I could think of were either... Either days and nights are different in this world or this is exactly like sleeping, on wich 1 minute in a dream can be actually 1 hour in life?) "Even so, thank you God for this one" I spoke while opening my eyes. (I think will replace the term eyes with vision since I got vision but no eyes...) I did not know if this thought was a joke or something just sad. "Time to check how the surface is going." I did not know for sure what happened in that moment, as I was confused when I rose up from the grave for the second time, it was dark but with some light. Was it still the same night or the second night already? Chapter V - New Things I rose up for the second time, at first I thought it was night, but there was something different. No moonlight, no stars and no clouds. It took me a minute to realize that I was inside of some sort of a building. "I guess this is the wasps work? They sure work fast!" I was surprised at what they did. While It looked just like a single room, It was a big one, not only compared to the wasps but also my size. The height of it was three times as tall compared to me, the walls and celling were not exactly straight, they made the room look more like the inside of an egg. I looked around, behind me, from what I could tell. (Stairs? Did these guys make a second floor?!? Wait, just how much time was I underground?) Then I faced the front, where the light seemed to be coming from, for the first time, I saw the light of the sun. "Should I check outside?" I mumbled me while walking to what seemed to be the door. There was no door. It was simply an entrance, or in this case, an exit. I kept walking and then stepping my first step into the light while looking down, to the grass, wich looked delighted by the sunlight. (The outside seems the same? Same hill, same forest...) At that moment of thought, I turned backwards. (This house, should I call it a house? It looked more like a nest?) (What the fuck?) I screamed in my mind, (For how fucking long have I been sleeping?) I thought as I gazed the nest from the outside. (Yes, the nest house was like an egg, big, enough for a family of me''s.) But what surprised me was that on the back of this giant nest in form of an egg was smaller ones, all on top of each other. "So now I know where those stairs lead to! It looks like, some huge tower!" I mumbled while observing. "Please forgive us!" (???) The voice came from my back, from the front of the nest, it was the wasp leader. (Why the apologies?) I wondered the waps''s words. The wasp was trembling, wich was weird, he looked more lively to me on last time we spoke. Then I saw, the problem wasn''t him, it was me. (What the hell?) I thought as I checked my body. (My entire body was releasing steam everywhere!) Vapor? Gas? (That god took literally light as in sunlight?) I was concerned and my anger was easy to spot on by the wasp. The wasp leader was frozen, waiting for my reply. (I do not feel the pain, but I think if I get too much exposure, it might be dangerous for me? And this wasp''s misunderstanding might be useful to me, so its time to kill two birds with one stone!) "Follow me!" I commanded him, as I turn back, walking into the nest, "My fury is gone..." I slowly told the wasp as the steam disappeared. Stolen novel; please report.(My best weapon for now, is bluffing!) My thought, opinion and the truth. As I sat down, I pointed him with my right arm, to sit on my front. The wasp leader immediately took his place. "Great DK, once again, my apologies!" Voiced the wasp in concern. "We will change anything that you dislike no matter what!" "No need to change anything." I stated. "I am happy that you built such a structure." I told the wasp while gazing on the walls and ceiling. (I wanted but I cannot ask how long it has been since I was underground, I am afraid it will show weakness!) "But I do wish to ask for a report." I paused for a few seconds while looking at the entrance. "It is important to know what happens in my land!" "Of course! Great DK!" (Wasp Leader), "After you went underground, we rested in the night to recover." He took a breath then continued. "We woke up early in the morning, used the leaves of the nearby trees as material and made this nest for you!" The wasp proudly he announced. "At lunch, me and the one with the shield went to the forest to clean the bodies, we specifically will use the Arach bodies as future food and we buried our two fallen comrades at the back of the nest!" He reported. "My brother wasp, the one with the spear spent all morning scouting as he is the only one with functioning wings, he found no Arach nearby, but he found a location that seemed to be a breeding ground for wild bunnies!" The Wasp proudly stated. (He looks like he loves eating bunnies? Or maybe because theres none of those pesty spider things around, who knows? Probably both?) If skeletons could give a big smile, I would give one right now. "We are currently storing all the food on the third floor. The weapons are on the fourth floor and the nest currently has six floors!" The wasp stated as he gazed at the ceiling in a good mood. "The Princess woke up at lunch time right when we returned, fortunately she is in good health!" He sounded happier this time. "She is currently on the second floor!" "Good to know, I might have to visit her soon. I would be a bad host otherwise!" (DK) (And I must make sure she is not an enemy!) "Great DK! I am sure she would be joyful about meeting you!" The wasp cherfully said. "Oh, my apologies, I forgot, she is not a princess anymore, but our queen!" He reminded himself. "That is good to ear, but what happened to make such a change?" (DK) "I am proud to inform you, Great DK! That our new queen has laid eight eggs today already, assuring the survival of our race!" He stupendously, unbelievably, wonderfully replied like the most elite patriotic person. "Thats wonderful, congratu" I paused my sentence for a second. (Wait a fucking second!) "-lations!" "I will go see her now, go hunt more bunnies, I am sure you will need them." (DK) "Indeed a good suggestion, I will immediately go for it!" With a joyful sentence, the wasp left the nest for hunting. I turned my head to the stairs. (If she ends up being my enemy...Then am I literally going to let her breed an army on top of me?) And so, I stood up and walked the stairs. Chapter VI - Egg Chamber Up the stairs I went. It wasn''t much of a walk and just a few seconds later I already reaching the second floor. (Some lamps would do good in here!) So I thought, as more I walked, the darker it got, the ceiling and walls formed almost a full circle, on wich the stairs seemed to break that circle. The stairs were a bit big compared to the wasps, so I assumed they were built only for me. As I reached what it looked like it a floor entrance, the stairs kept going up to the other floor, but there was some sort of an extra open space before the main room, there was also an opening to it with some sort of light. I walked into it and saw it, the main room of the second floor, wich is an the egg chamber. (What the fuck?) These were the words in my mind as I saw at least as twice more eggs from what I was told, on wich were about half the size of a wasp. (They even glow in the dark!) "Great DK!" This sentence I heard, coming from between the eggs and as I looked close, a shield and sword laid next to them. A figure rose up between those eggs, took me a second to realize that it was the shield wasp. "Welcome to the nest room, I hope that everything we did pleases you!" He said while petting an egg. (Why do I feel quite annoyed with what he just said? Still, they did do what I asked, I did promise to take care of their queen...) Suddenly, at the end of that room, a portion of the wall opened like a door. From the other side she emerged, their queen, wich carried a newly hatched egg on her four arms. She paused for a second, surprised as it was her first time seeing me. After a moment, she laid the egg right next to the other ones and signaled the shield wasp to leave, on wich he bowed his head before doing so. "Please sit, great one." Politely the queen said while pointing to the front of the what it seemed her bedroom. "Ah, so polite, thank you!" I answered while sitting, giving a glance at the tiny room she was previously in. "Tell me, how many eggs do you plan on filling this room today?" I asked her while turning my face to the current room filled with eggs. "This was the last one of the day, the 20th!" She told me with a gentle tone while sitting down next to me, "I am still young and this is my limit." (Was she expecting more? Fuck, I know that back on earth wasps can put almost 100 a day, bees up to a 1000 and god knows how many by other animals, but still, this is nuts!) "20 is a good number. You should be happy, but..." I paused,"Why here? Did not the others tell you about me?" "Are you unhappy with your egg chamber? Or how did we build the nest?" She asked me nervously."All of us, even our future young will do everything as you wish!" She said proudly to me. (Why the fuck would I need an egg chamber? Oh wait! I am the first skeleton they see? Their standards for a house should include an egg chamber, doesn''t it?) I answered myself. This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.In this kind of different culture, them requiring an egg chamber was like me requiring a grave. "Tell me, with all your honesty, what do you think of me?" I asked the queen for her opinion. She joined her hands, looking like she was praying. "Great DK, Lord of this land, the one who saved the survivors of our race! The one who makes the armies of Arach retreat!" (Queen) "The one who sheltered us, gave us a chance for our young!" She cheerfully said. "You are like a God! Our Protector!" I(Yes, this land is mine! At least I got that into their heads! Fuck Yeah! But... I got no idea where the army part came from, there was only five of them!) I did wonder what was the number of the spiders army. Wasn''t it you who gave birth to the eggs? I just asked for a bloody house!) At the last sentence In my mind, there was only one thing that appeared from my memory, some sort of evil happiness. (Why do I feel like one of my favorite characters from a movie? The one who controlled all sides and tricked them into creating his empire!) "I am pleased with your answer." I told the queen. "But I am not sure about being a God... I mean, look at me? It is not like I am a White God or something like that!" At that moment, after this last sentence, her wasp''s eyes seemed to have stars sparkling. I paused for a second, pretended to release a slight "cough". "Well, You and the other wasps, may think of me as you wish." I informed her and while doing so, I rose up. "I will have to check the other floors, but tell me, how long does wasp eggs take to hatch? And after they do, how long until they mature?" I was curious about this particular matter. "Of course! An egg takes a full day to hatch, then the baby larvae will eat and prepare his cocoon to grow into a wasp, this also takes one more day!" She happily informed. (20 eggs each day, but 2 days to hatch?) And here I was, with simple math in my thoughts, (That''s 20 wasps every 2 days?) (No! If she lays 20 every day, that means that after the first batch is born, 20 wasps will be born every day!) That would mean 100 wasps in 7 days. 27 days would equal 500 wasps, in 2 months at least 1 thousand. "When you can, go downstairs if possible to gather the other wasps, I will need to speak with everyone." I requested her as walked to the exit. The queen bowed her head giving her confirmation and returned to check her eggs as I exited the room. As I stepped into the second floor''s entry room, on wich, the shield wasp was still there, waiting on guard. "You may return to help your queen." I told the wasp. With another head bow, the shield wasp went into the nest room. (I told her to gather them when they are done so I think there is still plenty of time, I shall check at least the next 2 floors) I thought while I was looking to the top of the stairs. "clack clack" I stepped slowly, walking to the third floor. Chapter VII - Priorities Trough the stairs I walked again. (As I was told, next floor should be stored with food. There should be enemy bodies there along with some bunnies?) (But why did he use the word bunnies? Why not rabbits? Was the translation wrong?) "Or do wasps only enjoy bunnies as food? Is there something wrong with the adult rabbits?" I mumbled. While this was a fantasy world, even with few differences, the translation has been always accurate to some extent. (There is also their weapons.I don''t think they know how to make them, so how did they get them? Trade? Robbery? Spoils of war?) "Ah, this must be the third floor with the food." The third floor was pretty much the same as the second floor, the difference was the exeption of not having an extra room like the one the queen had. Someone else was here, holding a spear, the spear wasp. "Great DK, welcome to the food floor!" (Spear Wasp) As I looked around, there were bodies of Arach on the floor, while several bunny bodies were lined on the right section wall of the room, both also had something on them. "Tell me, what is that, holding the bodies?" I asked the wasp with the spear, while pointing at the bodies. "This is a liquid we wasps can produce, it can be used for several useful things, like glowing in the dark to provide light, hold objects on the walls as you see with the bunnies and it can even help preserve food making it last longer." (Spear Wasp) "Useful indeed, I have another question if you do not mind." (DK) "Please ask! I will answer on what I can!" (Spear Wasp). "The weapons that you use, did you made them? If not, where did you get them?" "Unfortunately, we do not have the knowledge how to make these weapons." The wasp spoke with regreet. "As far as I know, they were acquired by traders... My apologies! I do not know anything regarding the trading we had!" "It is okay, now, I ask you to go with your queen, she is probably looking for you." (DK) "If that is so, I will immediately go to her, excuse me, Great DK!" He replied while bowing his head. The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement. Then, the wasp flied off the room. Like him, I also left that floor, but to the fourth floor instead. (The Arach did not use weapons and if wasps did not make their weapons then that only means there is more races out there!) "Muahahaha! Yes! A whole new world! With lots of variety, plenty of entertainment for me!" I shouted with pleasure as I reached the fourth floor. After I entered the fourth floor, compared to the other ones, I felt disappointed as it was pretty much empty. "Only these? And I bet there wont be more in a while... They dont know how to make more, their trade partners probably do not even know where they are!" Without counting the 3 swords, 1 spear and 1 shield that the current wasp warriors were using, there was only 1 shield, 1 sword and 1 spear available. The weapon numbers were a joke compared to the number of wasps that was soon to be born. And another issued appeared as I checked those 3 weapons closely. "By the look of this, they also do not know how to maintain them!" (I cannot even use the weapons properly!) As I was trying them out. the fact is that the weapons were for people as the size of the waps. The sword and shield were too short for my hands. "The only way I can use these is if only I use two fingers!" The spear was a different problematic story. "I can hold the spear, but the size... Looks like a fucking arrow compared to me!" I laughed with huge disappointment. For a moment I almost threw the spear away, but I held my feelings so the weapon would not get broken. (Even at this stage, these weapons are worth more than gold...) So I thought, following with a "sigh." Actually, at this point, in this world, even gold is nothing more than a useless shiny rock. "Well, since the other floors are empty, I would say I am done with checking out this..." (Considering how they seem loyal, it makes this both my house and the wasps home, for now I think the word Hive will be the most correct one!) "...Hive!Yes a Hive." I confirmed with my own words. (I should return to the first floor) I decided as I walked down the stairs. Slowly I descended, thinking about my future plans, there was still so much things to do, so many questions in need of an answer. For now, my priorities were somewhat clear, improve and create new skills, to be sure about the wasps loyalty, establish contact with traders, protect the queen, secure my land, insure that the waps are well provided with food, training and weapons. As I exited the stairs to the first floor, there they were, the queen and her three protectors, awaiting for my arrival. Chapter VIII - Wasp Hierarchy As I sat down above my grave, I waved the wasps to come close. The queen sat, but the three warriors did not. "Why did you not sit?" I asked the wasps warriors, wondering if something was wrong. The leader stared at me. "Great DK, we do not deserve to sit when the queen is already doing so! The thought that we are as comfortable as our beloved queen... If feels distasteful!" To see them stand did not feel comfortable to me, but, it was how their culture worked. "But I also sat the same as your queen. Does this not make it feel distasteful to you?" "Of course not! You are Great DK! Our savior! The White God!" (OH! Good, she shared that part! I know what to say, but sometimes, it is best to wait a bit...) "So, if the queen sits on something better...." I paused, while moving my hand upwards into contact with my chin. "will you sit?" (Bet this would work better if I had a beard, all mystical and shit...) The leader did not answer, he and the other 2 wasps simply confirmed nodding their heads. "Good to ear, Queen, would you mind laying in here instead?" On that moment, I crossed my legs, with my right hand pointing at them. The queen still stood in the same place. (Did I screw up or?) "If I do that, won''t I bother you?" The queen asked me with worry. "No, not at all, come!" (DK) Movements happened, leading to a scene as the queen rose up and walked to me, promptly, she laid down on my legs. After she had done it so, the three warriors came closer, forming a horizontal line. To describe the scene, the three warriors were now sitting on the ground, while their queen laid on what it looked like a throne, a throne of bones inside a large room, a great hall on wich my body made sure to point out the most important person in the room. "Comfortable?" I asked all of them. Three nobs came from the warriors. "Much better than the floor!" Pleasantly replied the queen with a giggle. (Got no idea how my bones are more comfortable than the floor, but if she is not complaining, then it is all good to me.) "I have been wondering for a while, does your kind not give names to individuals?" "We only treat ourselves with the name of our jobs in the Hive" Replied the queen. "We have queens, princesses, drones.Drones either become warriors or workers depending on our needs, a princess is a potential queen, queens lay eggs. When a second queen appears, the oldest queen turns into the Matriarch queen, the Matriarch together with other queens command the Hive." (So in the future, if there is a second queen, I must make sure she is younger, otherwise I will crush her to keep this one in command.) Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site."Even so, I would like to distinguish at least you and the three warriors. After all, you are special warriors for ensuring the survival of your kind, is it not?" I inquired the wasps. "I would love to be given a name by you!" (Queen) "I would be proud of having one too!" Answered the leader. "A name from the White God would be an honor!" (Spear Wasp) "Pl-Please me too!" Said the shield wasp with a timid voice. I took my time to decide, with my right hand again in my chin. "For a queen, only a beautiful name is worth of you" I paused for a moment. "Cleopatra" I softly said to the queen. "Yes! I love it!" Cleopatra said with a giggle. The three warriors nodded as they also enjoyed the name. "The one with the spear! Shall be called Ragnar." "An honored name!" Ragnar said while raising his spear. "The one who likes to use the shield! Your name shall be Leonidas." He did not answer, he simply raised his shield, looking proud of his new name. "The one with a scar on his left eye, will be named Caesar!" He rose up one of his swords and shouted. "A warriors name indeed!" I gave a few moments for them celebrate, while the queen laid on my legs, the three warriors kept jumping or flying around with their weapons. (Well, they had their fun...) I raised my right hand to tell them to calm down and waited until they sat down again. "It is getting late, is it not?" I inquired as the room was getting darker. "Are you hungry? I think it is time for supper." (DK) "I could eat, laying eggs uses my entire energy!" (Cleopatra.) "I want more bunnies! Delicious!" (Caesar) "Did you not eat plenty of them already?" (Ragnar) "I will probably have to hunt more of them tomorrow because of you!" "But I am hungry!" (Caesar) "I would not mind a bunny or two." Murmured Leonidas. Everyone was pretty much hungry. "Well, then, let us not waste more time." I spoke and with a nod, the wasps agreed. "Ragnar, please go fetch us enough bunnies, Leonidas and Caesar, I want you to do something to illuminate this room!" I commanded. "Be right back!" (Ragnar) "Very well!" (Caesar) As for Leonidas, he simply nodded and helped Caesar. Each started from one of the sides the room, both making a line of lights with that wasp liquid wich seemed to turn into a solid form after a few moments. "Cleopatra, tell me, is that the same liquid they used to make the walls of this Hive?" "No, while the one we use for the walls comes from of mix of our saliva and tree leaves, the second is a mix of saliva and the remains of our food that does get digested." (Cleopatra) "AH, I see, very useful indeed!" (DK) (I did not expect for shit to be an ingredient for such things!) (Good thing I was now a skeleton, this would probably be very disgusting to me when I was a human!) A few moments later, the lights were positioned on the Great Hall and Ragnar descended from the stairs with nine bunnies. Chapter IX - Family Supper? "Everyone sit down, Ragnar put the bunnies in front of me!" I said to the wasps while waving my hand for everyone to gather. Once again the three warriors lined up, while the queen still laid on my legs. "So, what are you waiting for? Eat!" (DK) But they still did not eat, they simply kept staring at me. "Please eat first!" Said Cleopatra as the other 3 agreed. (I forgot, I am the first living skeleton they meet!) "Do not worry about me, I do not need to eat, please help yourselves!" Once again, I suggested them to eat. The three warriors stood there, waiting, it was clear that the first one that had to pick, was their queen. "Of course, our White God does not even need to eat!" Said Cleopatra as she grabbed a bunny for herself. At the moment she took a bite, the warriors also picked theirs too. Wasps eating bunnies was rather unique. (They are even eating the fur and the bones!) While Cleopatra ate with no rush, chewing well one bite at a time like royalty, Ragnar was eating huge chunks with some speed, Leonidas in the other hand, was eating with small bites, taking his time to enjoy his meal. Caesar was the more unique of them, he was the only one who grabbed 2 bunnies at the same time, with each on a different hand, he took huge chunks like Ragnar, but Caesar was faster that him. Everyone ate, except for me, from time to time, they would pause, just to laugh or giggle and then return to eat. I let them eat in peace, just staring at them, thinking about the future. At the end, everyone ate two bunnies with the exception of Caesar who had three. "I could eat one more!" (Caesar) "Then go hunt them!" (Ragnar) "Speaking of wich, Caesar did you not go hunting just a while ago?" (DK) "Well..." (Caesar) "pff" This sound came from Leonidas. "H-He did not catch anything!" He said while trying not to burst into laughing in front of his brother. If a wasp could blush, this would be one of the times Caesar would. "Even after I caught so many, you failed to get one?" (Ragnar) "It is not my fault! Those things are so fast! You are only able to catch them because you have functioning wings!"(Caesar) For a moment I thought they were about to fight over this silly thing, but now that Caesar mentioned their wings, I decided to change the subject of hunting. "Speaking of wich, why most of you cannot fly?" (DK) Ragnar and Caesar looked at each other. "Great DK, do you not know about the mana winds that reside on high altitude?" (Ragnar) "I am sure our White God knows that!" (Cleopatra) (This could go wrong) I thought to myself as they awaited an answer for me. (It is time for more bullshitsu!) "I said that I was Lord of this Land, not the Air, besides, do you see wings on me that could allow to fly high as you do Ragnar?" I answered Ragnar''s question with a question. "You are right, my apologies, Great White God!" (Ragnar) "As I am sure that you know, your land is a huge valley surrounded by high mountain rocks that are impossible to cross by foot, with the exception of the entrance path, the one we used to escape from the Arach. At the beginning, we planned to fly over the mountains, but the mana winds that flow all over them on high altitude did not allow us passage." (No, I did not know this, but thank you for the intel, there is also mana in this world? Yay, that means there must be some crazy son of a bitch that can throw overpowered spells!) "And when we did, our wings got internally damaged, Ragnar was lucky as he was on the back of our party, so he was able to prevent it." (Caesar) "It was also the reason I was unconscious for a long time as I was one of those in the front!" (Cleopatra)If you come across this story on Amazon, it''s taken without permission from the author. Report it. "Yes dammit!" (Caesar) "Before trying to fly away, we were 200 strong protecting our Princess... I mean, our beloved Queen!" "Many sacrificed their lives to shield her from the fall, me, Caesar and some others got lucky as well!" Added Leonidas to the conversation as he was about to cry. "Out of 200, I saw at least 40 survive from the fall, but before we could reorganize, we were attacked by the Arach again! One by one warriors died to distract them as five of us were chosen to carry the princess by land!" (Caesar) "Even that was not enough, a small group of Arach managed to break trough and followed us into your land." (Ragnar) (From what I can tell, mana winds act like leeches for their wings and those Arach will return for the finish blow? Hopefully they will take the same time as that dragon girl took to return to Mesteros) "Do not worry, as long as you do as I tell you, Your race will survive!" (DK) The three warriors bowed their heads while Cleopatra seemed to be hugging my bones more tightly. "I do have a question that needs to be answered for the importance of the survival of this Hive." As I said this to the wasps, they stood still, awaiting for my question, hoping to answer it. "Ragnar told me that there are traders that supply you with weapons, do you know who they are? Do they know where you are? Will they attempt to trade with us?" (DK) "I know!" Spoke Cleopatra with a giggle, "On our previous Hive, the queens used to trade with a group called KOT, Keepers of Trading, unfortunately, it is unlikely they know where we are, as for the rest of the world, our old Hive and connections are dead." "Yes, trading matters were always managed only by the queens, not only they sold us weapons but also repaired them!" (Caesar) Ragnar and Leonidas did not spoke, as they did not know much about this matter. "Thank you, that is enough information about them for now." (DK) (We do not even have much to trade with, unless they are fans of bunny bodies, maybe their furs or meat will be worth something?) "Tomorrow is a new day, the first eggs will crack into larvae." I said this while petting Cleopatra with one finger. "Cleopatra, you should get some sleep!" "Yes, what you say is always true," Cleopatra said as she slowly rose up."Good night everyone!" "Good night!" (DK) "Good night your Highness!" The three warriors said in sync, leaving me a bit surprised. As she walked up to her bedroom in the second floor, the three warriors rose up. "I will keep first watch!" (Ragnar) "Very well, Leonidas, do you want second or third?" (Caesar) "W-Would prefer third if possible." (Leonidas) "No problem, I take second!" (Caesar) I was amused at this scene. But 1 minute later, they still stood there looking at me. (Oh! Let me think, ah, this should work...) "You are dismissed, good job on making a fast watch assignment!" (DK) They bowed their heads and as intended, Ragnar took position on the entrance with his spear while Leonidas and Caesar went up the stairs. (What to do now?) While it was late for the wasps, it was basically morning for me. "I guess I will take a stroll." I mumbled to myself. "Clack clack" Were the sounds of my steps as I walked to the entrance where Ragnar was standing on guard. As I reached him, I said "Keep on guarding. I will take a stroll." "Wait! Great DK! Should you not take Leonidas or Caesar as escort?" (Ragnar) I kept walking past him. "I have no need for an escort to walk among my own land, I will return before the sun rises, if in doubt, just remember what I am to you!" (DK ) He stood there quiet for a few seconds until answering. "Yes! Do not worry! White God! We will protect this Hive until you return!" Ragnar shouted towards me. I did not answer as I simply raised my right arm to say good bye, be right back, while walking down the hill. Chapter X - North territory I decided to go North. Wich was to the right side of the Hive. "When I woke up, the sun seemed to be setting to the front of the Hive, so assuming it works the same as earth, I should be heading North?" (I think I will check out the entire valley with the exception of the West. There are high chances that I might find Arach there!) After walking for one hour, or at least, of what it felt like one hour, now, once again, the moon appeared, full and beautiful. "Are there nothing but trees? But it also seems that the terrain is getting rougher!" As I kept going, I realized that if I had the same size of the wasps, I would never pass trough this area. Then I reached on what seemed like a new area, there were fewer trees, it was like an non flat endless land of grass and bushes. Pushed on to these grasslands I did. Suddenly I stopped and raised my right hand to make contact with my chin. "So, is this the part of the mountains that they were talking about? No wonder I could not see it, its so dark like night!" (Well then, it seems there is nothing else to see here!) While I was still around the middle of this grass land, it was easy to see how dangerous it was to climb just that specific section of the black rock mountain. "Time to return! Maybe if I managed to get my hands on some goats, I could raise them here and then..." All of a sudden, while I was mid sentence and with a sound of what it seemed like a ton of earth collapsing the floor collapsed with me falling down and with a "boom" sound I landed, followed by a strong "CRACK!!" sound. As I regained posture, I sat on the floor. "Fuck!" I shouted underground. "Who the hell built a tunnel beneath me?"Again I shouted while noticing that my left arm had decided to take a vacation from the rest of my body. "Dammit!" I yelled while closing my left hand like a fist. For a minute, I stood still, staring at my arm with a poker face, if I had one. I looked at my hand of my broken arm, with a repeat closing and opening of my left hand, I confirmed that I could still use it even if it was detached from my main body. "Arm, come to me!" I spoke towards the arm. Using the fingers as the legs of a spider, my left arm, in a creepy fashion returned to me. Just when picked up my arm, a noise came from my behind, like a "squeal". (What was that?) I wondered as I turned around. There it was, a huge ball of black fur, 2 long ears, trembling. "Are you a rabbit?" I asked the creature, while it was maller than me, it was higher than the wasps and much, much fatter. "If I answer, do you promise not to eat me?" The creature requested. "I do not eat." (DK) The creature waited a few seconds."Are you really not going to eat me?" Again he asked, from wich I simply nodded yes. "That''s the first good thing I hear today!" The rabbit expressed in relief. "With so many things happening lately, the way you crashed in, I thought you were another hunter!" (Is he talking about Ragnar and Caesar?) "Yes, well, would you mind telling me where the exit is?" (DK) "I was heading to one of the exists already, so sure!" Then he looked at the broken ceiling. "I will have to return later to fix that, come along now, follow me!" (Kinda feel bad for doing that, but maybe this will teach him to strength up his tunnels?) As we went to the exit, the rest of the tunnels were actualy smaller than the place I falled in, so I had to walk on four legs the rest of the way to proceed. "cluch" Apiece of dirt went into my head. "Ah! Sorry about that has to make the way bigger for you!" The Rabbit informed me. Unauthorized content usage: if you discover this narrative on Amazon, report the violation."It''s okay, earth does not affect me anyway." (DK) "Good! Even so, we will take 5 minutes to get out, the bunnies sure did a mess this time!" (Black Rabbit) "So you are not alone?" (DK) "No, I am part of a warren, not sure of how many, we get hundreds of bunnies born every day so I would say that I am not alone at all." (Black Rabbit) (Considering how rabbits can have plenty of babies fast, the nut job of this being a fantasy world, plus the amount of food available for them, makes me not surprised this time.) Time passed again and finally we were out. "Time to eat!" The black rabbit said, chewing up the grass of the surface. "If you don''t mind, could you tell me about the hunters you mentioned?" I inquired the rabbit, wondering if it was only the wasps. "Let me think," (Black Rabbit) "ever since I was born, we were hunted by a sizeable pack of wolves who would often eat most of our bunnies and sometimes worked to dig out for our adult rabbits!" "But suddenly they disappeared around 2 days ago, some said they migrated." The rabbit explained to me. "Then in this last day, wasps appeared out of nowere and hunted my kind for almost the entire day from what I have heard." (Black Rabbit) "But you were smart to come eat at night?" (DK) "Yes!" The rabbit gladly responded. "It is safer since the wasps would have trouble seeing me from the sky, unlike the wolves who see easily in the dark!" (So in the end, the wolves pretty much ensured that the rabbit population was controlled, I will have to find where they went! But one thing for sure, the wasps food supply will last for a long time.) "Since you helped me get out." (DK) "I will give you some important information, the wasps will not hunt at night!" This was a lie. "So come out at night, eat and grab what you can, so thatyou feed in the underground during the day!" The black rabbit stared at me, looking all cute. "Thank you so much! That will pretty much ensure that I live for a long time!" "But if someone asks, you deny it! If the wasps don''t have anything to hunt, they might get hungry and angry!" (DK) "And that just might be enough for them to come and dig into your warren to eat all of you!" The bunny understood what I meant as he was more interested in his own survival and the death of more bunnies would also mean that grass would be in ample supply. (Hope this is enough to ensure the wasps don''t go hungry, if not, when we have enough numbers, I will simply order to capture all of them and create massive rabbit farms.) I wanted to have a long food supply just in case. "Okay, I will not tell anyone of this!" (Black Rabbit) "It is time for me to leave, thanks again, maybe we will see each other again!" I told the rabbit. (But I hope not to!) "Thank you! Goodbye!" The rabbit said goodbye as he waved with one of his long ears. Again I was strolling through the forest. It took me a while to return, but there it was, my hill. As I went up the hill, I saw that it was still Ragnar who was on guard. He raised his spear in a way of greeting. "Welcome back Great DK!" "Thank you!" (DK) As I reached the entranced, I decided to sit down, next to him. "Great DK, did you enjoy your stroll?" (Ragnar) "It was, refreshing!" (DK) "Thank you for caring." "I am pleasant to know that!" (Ragnar) "Oh, there is one thing I wanted to ask you." (DK) "Of course! Just say and it will be!" Ragnar shouted with pride. "Starting tomorrow, I want you to hunt all the bunnies you can, we will need them but do not hunt them at night!" (DK) "I will do that and thank you for caring so much! The night makes it difficult to hunt and it is far more dangerous!" (Ragnar) With me at the entrance, Ragnar felt more relaxed. (Being on guard with company sure seems to make a difference, it''s more safe and more comfortable?) Then from behind, inside the hive, came out Caesar, it was time to change shifts. Chapter XI - South and East It was still early in the night for me as the two warriors changed places. With a head bow from Ragnar, he wished me a "Good night, Great DK!" as I waved with my left hand to him. As Caesar took position at the entrance, he spoke to me. "Great DK, do you not wish to get some rest?" "I am fine, the night is more beautiful to me than the day." (DK) "It''s true, such a splendid night with an alluring moon!" (Caesar) There was a long pause in our conversation as we were just contemplating the sky. "I already told this to Ragnar." (DK) "Starting tomorrow, he will focus on hunting bunnies during the day, I told him to not hunt in the night as it can be dangerous." "Totally agree! It''s best for us to hunt in the day, if you wish, I could join him in the hunt!" (Caesar) "For now, only Ragnar should hunt, due to his wings!" (DK) "Besides, with me sleeping during the day, I want at least two of you in the Hive to protect Cleopatra and help her look after the young!" "As expected of Great DK! You always suggest the right choices!" (Caesar) (I still feel like it''s too early to rest. Maybe this time I will take my time to check the other areas of my land!) As I kept my hand on my chin everytime and I was deep in thoughts, Caesar knew something was up. "Is there something bothering you?" The wasp inquired, worried that he had done something wrong. "No, no, of course not!" (DK) "It''s just that I was thinking about taking another walk trough my land." "Another?" Caesar again inquired. "Yes, I took a short one when Ragnar was on his shift." I informed him as I rose up from my spot at the entrance. "I will be back, but there is a chance it wont be at the time of your shift, so have a good night and I will see you next day!" I told him as I departed "Good night! Enjoy your walk!" (Caesar) (This time I will try South, then East.) This was what I decided while descending down the hill. Trough the forest of massive trees I walked again, around the same distance that I recalled from the North side. "It seems the terrain here isn''t rough like the previous one." I mumbled to myself, taking step after step. Soon enough I found a new area, different from all the previous ones. "A lake!" I shouted, it was a lake, a big one. If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it.(I think I will take a look around?) As I checked the area, walking around the lake and inspecting if I could find something new. "Is that? Fish?" I wondered at the view of seeing them swimming around. (Gray fish? Got no idea what they are called, but they are the same size of a bunny!) It took me a long time, but finally I finished walking all around the lake. "I saw no possible way for the water to get into the lake, maybe the water comes underground streams?" Then, with a quick decision I decided to leave, heading towards East. (I have no use for water or fish, but I bet it will help the wasps in the future!) I kept walking, wondering about different things, until I reached the end of the East area. "Compared to the rest of the land, this seems like a waste land!" I shouted while conteplating the view. The ground was covered either by millions of small rocks or dirt. Kept walking trough, the more steps I took, the bigger the rocks got. (White, gray, brow rocks? I wonder if they are worth something?) "I am no rock expert, but maybe this place has the potential of being a future mine!" (Looking around, and still nothing but these rocks! Uh, maybe it is time to return?) But then, I was troubled as I turned back. (Fuck! I don''t know the right direction for the hive from here!) "Should I follow the path to the lake or try to follow a direct one to the hive?" I tried to decide. "No! I cannot risk it, it''s better to have a longer path rather than a chance of getting lost forever!" With the decision made, I picked the safest choice. Since I took the long way, I was sure it was not long before sunrise was soon to happen as I finally returned to the hill. There, Leonidas stood on guard duty, he waved at me as I reached the entrance. "Caesar went to sleep?" I inquired Leonidas. "Y-Yes Great DK! A long while ago and I am sure everyone will wake up soon." Leonidas politely answered. "My apologies, but it is getting late, I must rest!" I told him as I preparing to dig in my grave. "It, it is okay! Rest well!" (Leonidas) (Maybe I am being rude to him, but fuck it, I already told the others what to do, besides my first skill should be done by now!) Underground for the third time, there I was again, getting ready to check my tab skill. Chapter XII - Surprise in my Head I closed my vision, did not move a muscle since I did not have them in the first place. Suddenly the tab skill appeared. "Weak Regeneration completed." I mumbled this coment as I saw that the timer disappeared, "Wich skill should I pick next?" I wondered to myself. (On the second line of each section after commander vision, add one icon of a face of an evil shadow following the same thing as the previous skills!) Poof, three icons appeared, each one in the respective section. (Put the following stats on each skill!) The current stats were: Skill Weak Shadow Minion - Summons a shadow creature with one-fourth the size of the user and has combat abilities. Good Shadow Minion - Summons 3 shadow creatures with half the size of the user with average combat abilities. Strong Shadow Minion - Summons 5 shadow creatures with same size of the user, can mimic user, possesses strong combat abilities and are only able to be summoned every 10 days. Note: All Shadow creatures have excellent stealth and User can communicate trough them. (Repeat the same on third line, I want an icon with two characters on wich one is sucking life out of the other!) Poof, three new icons appeared. (I want these skills to be like this!) Skill Weak Life Leech - User absorbs slowly the life of the desired target. Good Life Leech - User absorbs the life of the desired targets. Strong Life Leech - User instantly absorbs almost the entire life of desired targets, this skill will make average and weak targets die immediatly, can only be used every 7 days. "Perfect!" (Shadow minions will allow me to recon, spy and communicate better! And I can also eventually use them as decoys!) "And Life Leech will help me greatly as I don''t have any weapons yet!" I screamed of excitement underground. With 2 new set of skills to pick, now I had to choose. (What do I need the most at this moment, considering only the skills I choose will take a day to get?) The major risks right now were the missing wolves and the Arach, one shadow minion would surely help find their location. Commander vision would help me see where all my allies are and it will provide me with a decent map overview of the valley. This content has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.Ally heal was out of the question for now, as there were no wounded with the exception of Caesar''s arm and pretty much everyones wings, but that would problably would require the medium ally heal skill. I did require an attack skill. Life Leech is a good skill as fighting with bare hands is not an reasonable choice at all. "Wait a second!" (I am doing this with the assumption that the wasps are my allies! There''s still the chance that the wasps are just putting an act, waiting for reinforcements to be born!) "If they end up as enemies, I can escape or even ambush them one by one while their new wasps will still be in larvae form, if they end up as allies, it will be better to teach or command them better!" I spoke in a malice voice. (Start Weak Commander Vision at once!) On top left of the tab the following info appeared, "Weak Commander Vision ETA: 7 Hours" (It says 7 hours? Already? Did I oversleep again?) It seemed that thinking wich skill to pick took way more time than what it was supposed to. "I have to start making these decisions when I am awake instead of sleeping!" I took this decision to be quicker. I rushed to leave my grave, crawling out there, only to find a cute thing on my head, like a stuffed toy, a larva. "So, they hatched!" I simply stared at the tiny creature as it crawled it''s way from my head to my right head. (Don''t dare to pet him, dammit!) As I looked around the Great Hall, there was no wasp there. (Strange, I thought at least one of them would be guarding this floor?) "Great DK!" Suddenly someone called me. It came from the stairs, as I rose up and turned, Leonidas was there, "Oh, you found him!" The wasp said while looking at my right hand. "How did you lose this little one?" I asked Leonidas as I pat the little one with my left hand. "Well, 20 larvae for me and Caesar to take care of can be really a hard task, especially when we also have to help our beloved queen with the new eggs!" (Leonidas) "It can''t be helped, don''t worry, it will be easier after the first batch is born!" (DK) (Maybe this will console him?) "Yeah, just one more day..." (Leonidas) "Anyways, I am here now, if you don''t mind, I will take this one upstairs?" (DK). "If that''s your wish! We are pretty much done for today!" The wasp answered me with joy. With the little larva on my hand, I took a walk to the egg chamber. Chapter XIII - Eggs, Larvae, Cocoons! As I reached the second floor, at first sight, it seemed the same as yesterday, the egg chamber was still full of eggs, until I looked up. "So these are the future wasps." I mumbled as I checked the ceiling, full of cocoons. (This looks more like a scene from a sci-fi movie rather than a fantasy one!) And so I thought to myself as I kept walking. At the end of the room, was Caesar, who seemed to be waiting for something. "Great DK!" The wasp greeted me. "You brought the missing one!" As I got closer to get a better view, there was at least 3 more larva strolling on the floor next to him. "I assume these 4 are the only ones who are not still on a cocoon?" (DK) "Yes! Soon they will be full-grown wasps!" Caesar told me with pride as he took the larva from my hand. "The queen is still laying the last of today''s eggs. If you need to speak with her, may I request that you wait on the Great Hall? She can be quite shy in terms of seeing anyone when she lays them!" (Actually, I was not interested in that, I just wanted to check how the larvae would turn) I decided to simply wave with my hand and moved on as Caesar bowed his head to me. I descended the stairs and sat on my usual place, the center of the Great Hall. With my hand on my chin, I started to think, while staring at Leonidas who was at the entrance on guard. He simply stood guard there while I was deeply in my thoughts, out of all wasps he was the most shy of the group, so, despite having company, I also had silence. Then, he was waving, not to me, but to the outside. "Either Ragnar is back or we got a visitor." (DK) It was Ragnar who returned, holding with his spear and 2 groups of captured bunnies, each on one hand. Both of them seemed happy, they greeted each other and afterwards came to me. "Great DK! If that''s alright with you, the bunnies of my last hunt shall be used for supper!" Ragnar proudly said as I nodded in agreement. (Just how many did he captured today?) I wondered, he was holding at least a dozen of them. This novel''s true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there."How many did you hunt today?" (DK) "Not sure, I did had to make alot of trips back and forth today. With the 20 wasps coming tomorrow, did not want to risk it so I think we pretty much have enough food for 2 days!" (Ragnar) "Please sit down, the Cleopatra is not here, leave the food in my front like yesterday." I politely requested the wasps. The two of them agreed with a nod and sat down. (Now that I notice, how come the bunnies don''t seem to have any cuts or wounds?) "Could you explain me how you hunt?" I inquired Ragnar of his hunting method. "Of course!" He promptly answered, but he afterwards kept silent for a minute, taking a deep breath to think until he finally answered. "There is not much to it. I simply fly high, keep an eye open for bunnies, when one is seen, I simply rush in from above and hit his neck with the back of my spear!" "The back? Not the front?" (DK) "No, the front could damage the spear blade, and it would make a mess!" (Ragnar) "A perfect answer, the fact that you try to conserve your weapon for real battle brings me joy!" I complemented him at the same time as I rose up my arms. At the moment Ragnar was about to comment, but instead he and Leonidas rose up, it was her, the queen, who had descended from the second floor and greeted me "Great DK!" as she quickly sat on my legs. (I can''t tell what''s more weird, the fact that the queen gains super speed when she wants to sit on my legs or how fast those 2 rose up the moment she appeared!) "Hello Cleopatra!" (DK) "Are you done with your daily duties? You two, sit down!" I commanded Leonidas and Ragnar. As they sat down, I wondered where was Caesar. "Yes! Finally! The last egg is in place and last larva turned into a cocoon!" She told me with a giggle. "Good, what about Caesar?" (DK) "Great DK! Did you call me?" Caesar shouted as he appeared from the stairs. "Yes, join us. We are about to eat." (DK) Caesar rushed in to his spot as he screamed with joy. "Bunny meat!" "You may all start to eat now, but afterwards, I have a few things to say." (DK) And so, another feast began, but this time with more bunnies than before. Chapter XIV - Third Night My plan was to let the wasps eat so that after they were done, I could discuss hunting, training and reconnaissance with them. "Grab your weapons!" (DK)" Leonidas stay with the Cleopatra! Ragnar and Caesar with me!" I commanded them with a shout. The wasps were so busy eating that they failed to see the three Arach at the entrance. As Cleopatra and Leonidas rose and moved to the back of the Great Hall, me, Ragnar and Caesar formed a frontline against this new enemy force. (Fuck! I only needed one more day! Can this shit get any worst?) I should have know to not jinx it in my thoughts since a fourth Arach joined his comrades on that moment. Flying on my right, tightly holding his spear, Ragnar asked. "What do we do?" "Great DK, this cannot be all of them!" Caesar implied as he drew his swords on my left. I had no time to say anything to Caesar as the four Arach came at us with a ferocious rush. "Eat this you fucks!" I shouted, raising my leg like I was trying to score a goal in futebol, kicking the leading Arach''s stomach as hard as I could. This Arach''s body was projected into his ally who was behind him, making them fall to the ground. "Ragnar!" I shouted again, pointing at the 2 fallen Arach. Ragnar and Caesar knew what I meant. While Caesar kept going forward with me, able to fly, Ragnar dived in from above aiming for their heads of the colapsed enemies, with the piercing sound of his spear, the two enemies died with one blow. The third Arach jumped towards me, forcing me to defend myself and so I stretched up my left arm to grab him by the thorax. The fourth one tried to join in, but Caesar passed by my left side to intercept the fourth enemy, he declared with a shout "This one''s mine!" while swinging his swords at the enemy. Caesar and the Aratch exchanged blows, each trying to either dodge or block attacks, making a repetitive "cha-ching, clank, cha-ching, clank" noise, wich made an eco upon the Great Hall. Find this and other great novels on the author''s preferred platform. Support original creators!I was able to hold the third enemy, but struggling with panic, "CLACK!" he used his lower arms to hit my arm. (The little fuck ripped my hand by the pulse!) Before the Arach could escape, I slapped him with my right hand, making him fall to the ground. With the third enemy on the ground, in an instant, Ragnar, with his head painted of Arach''s blue blood, dived for his third kill. As I looked forward, Caesar had already sliced the fourth enemy''s head. "Go to the entrance! Check if there''s more enemies!" I shouted to the wasps. Both rushed in, one ran and the other flew. The two warrior wasps took a look from the entrance, after a dozen seconds, Ragnar answered. "There''s no enemy in sight!" I promptly joined in with them at the entrance after hearing their response. It seemed so calm outside compared to the recent moments in the Great Hall. "Keep being on guard, this might have been only a scout party..." I informed the wasps. With the major danger gone, Cleopatra and Leonidas joined us at the entrance. "This is bad! Do they know where we are?" I asked Cleopatra with a worried voice. "This is a closed valley. They would find us eventually!" (Caesar) "Should we pack-up and leave?" Ragnar mumbled his suggestion. "But what about the unborn wasps! We cannot leave them!" Leonidas expressed his worries for the unborn. Cleopatra grabbed my hand and asked. "Great DK, what do you think we should do?" "Give me a moment to think." (DK) As the four waited for my response, they made a surprised face as they saw my left hand crawling, returning to its place. Finally, I answered Cleopatra. "Dont worry Cleopatra, please finish your meal and then go get some rest." And with a nod, she returned to her meal. "Leonidas, Caesar and Ragnar!" (DK) "Two of you will be on guard at all times while the other one rests! Is that clear?" All three answered as they tried to fill their thorax. "Yes Great DK!" Ragnar and Caesar stood on guard, while Leonidas returned to his meal. I sat near the entrance, decided to help out incase more enemies appeared. (I hope this will be a boring night!) Chapter XV - The Cube Several hours passed and there was still no sign of enemies. Ragnar was sleeping while Caesar and Leonidas stood guard at the entrance, It was the third time that they had changed shifts. (Judging by the position of the moon and the fact that they changed guard 3 times. The sun should rise soon?) Stared at the warriors until I asked them. "Do the Arach attack during the day?" Both of them turned to me for a moment, then made a disturbed look at each other. With a worried voice Leonidas answered "W-We don''t know!" as he didn''t even look directly at me. "Neither do I! Not even knowing this, it''s shamefull!" Ragnar nervously said. (Fuck! They look like they are about to commit seppuku!) "Don''t worry, this isn''t important, just keep being on guard!" I told them, but it did not had the effect I wanted. (Well, of course knowing if your enemy only attacks during the night is fucking important, but last thing I need is for these guys to lose morale!) At that moment an uneasy atmosphere fell at the entrance. The sky started to turn orange, showing me the sunrise. (Should be fine as long I am in the shadow? But I cant go away while they are in this situation!) "The first wasps batch will be born today, shouldn''t you be happier?" I spoke to the two wasps, trying to change their minds into a good topic. "Oh! Thats right! Our hive will grow in strength! And with the White God at our side we wont be defeated!" (Ragnar) "Y-yes! That is true!" (Leonidas) "But you are the senior wasps, you will have to teach them to help the hive, by taking care of the queen and the young, you must also teach them how to hunt, train and fight!" (DK) With a burst, Ragnar shouted. "To teach them to hunt! I will make sure we never starve!" "G-Great DK! But I cant teach them anything special!" (Leonidas) "Is the enemy attacking?!" Caesar suddenly shouted from my back, it seemed that our conversation awoke him as he already had his swords ready. "Don''t worry the enemy isn''t here, yet." (DK) "But since you are awake, I would like to ask you for a favor..." Troubled for a moment, Caesar took a breath to calm down. "What is it that you need?" Caesar inquired as the three warrior wasps stared at me. "Would you mind giving me that cloth?" (DK) "This dirty old thing? But! For the White God to use this..." Caesar mumbled. "I need it, but it isn''t for me to wear, I have other plans for it." (DK) "Very well! Not sure why would you want this, it''s just something I found abandoned in the dirt!" Caesar said as he took off the cloth. It was nothing but a dirty old cloth. As he put the cloth on my hand, I could see more clear. (This thing is really dirty, but it''s probably the only piece that could be considered as clothes in the valley?) "Well, the sun rises, hope you add enough sleep?" (DK) All three nodded, while they probably slept better on the previous night compared to this one, today was different as they knew that the threat wasn''t clear and that we were outnumbered. "Don''t worry, after we get more wasps to help, I am sure you guys will have proper sleeping nights in the future!" (DK) "For now, Ragnar, if you don''t mind, I want you to take this cloth, travel south until you reach a lake and wash it." I asked the waps as I pointed to the left side of the hive "It will be done!" Complied Ragnar as he took the cloth. As Ragnar flied away, the other two remaining wasps were wondering about what I was doing with the cloth- "Great DK, if you don''t mind, could you explain us better about what you want with the cloth?" Caesar inquired while Leonidas nodded in agreement. "Well... There''s a few reasons." (DK) "But first I wanted to test this!" (Weak Command vision!) Suddenly a map appeared in front of me. "Well, seems like my new mini map works!" As I moved my head to check out the sides of the map, I saw it. (Holy fuck! its a 3D Map!) This book''s true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience. At first I thought it was like a square paper map, but after testing it, the map was actualy a cube and with my hands, I was able to freely rotate the view and even zoom in. The map showed almost the entire valley, the hill, the hive, the forest land that surrounded us, the rocky land in the Eest, the lake in south and the bunny hunting grassland ground''s of the north. I could also see a small part of tunnels that was supposed to be of the rabbit warren, the rocky location on the east and the mountains appeared in a black color. It seemed like I could not zoom out of the valley, but the weirdest thing was that the west part of the valley that lead to the supposed exit, was all gray. (So there''s fog of war? Too bad there isn''t a chat, Maybe "Iseedeadpeople" could work on this map?) "G-Great DK! What magic is that?" (Leonidas) "Don''t you know whats a map?" (DK) The 2 wasps both nodded to the sides. They had no idea what a map was. "Uh... I am terrible at explaining things, please come close, listen to what I say but feel free to ask anything!" The wasps came closer and sat right next to the cube map as I moved it so we could all see from the top. "See here?" I told them as I pointed to the center, "This is our Hive, all the green dots represent my allies, the black one is me!" (Well I think the black one is me, after all there''s only one black piece and all the rest are green!) "What about this one?" Caesar inquired, pointing to a green dot on part of the map that showed the lake. "Thats probably Ragnar!" I answered the wasp, confirming that the map had the power to show all allies in the valley. "This is where the bunnies live right? What about these tunnels?!" Caesar again inquired, but this time with an excited shout, thinking of how many of them would be available to eat underground. "Yes, but never go to the tunnels, there is a high risk that they could collapse and I don''t think you wish to die by being buried alive." (DK) "Yes, Great DK..." Caesar mumbled, at thought of being buried alive. Besides the promise I had with black rabbit, the important thing was to ensure that not all of them were killed so that they could reproduce into giving more food to us. "Why is this area gray?" Leonidas asked me while pointing at the west forest. "That... that means that there are high chances of some unknow danger on that area!" (DK) (If they know that the gray area is something I cant see, they will doubt everything I said from being the lord of this land!) "Great DK! Does this mean that you can see everything? Even our enemies?" (Caesar) "Unfortunately no, I just made this magic after the previous Arach attack, so it will take some time for me to fully complete its potential." I politely told them. (While the gray part was a decent lie, afterwards at the end if they find no danger, I can simply say that the enemy moved out, but if the Arach attack now and it didn''t show on the map, it could bring me touble!) "Great DK! You are capable of making such magic in one night!" Caesar shouted as the group stared at me with enjoyment. At that moment the green dot that represented Ragnar left the lake, heading to our direction wich was caught by the curious eyes of Leonidas. "It seems Ragnar is returning!" (Leonidas) "Yes, he is, I am also wondering, at what time does Cleopatra wake up?" (DK) "Sh-She normally wakes around at this time!" (Leonidas) "Then, I will go see if she is awake, please guard the entrance well!" I told the wasps as the cube map disappeared. "Oh! Yeah, we must be on our guard!" Caesar, quickly stood up and resumed to his position. Leonidas was still sitting there staring at me. "G-Great DK! What can I teach the new future wasps?" (Leonidas) (Is he nervous? Disappointed? Sad?) "Yes, there is, but have patience, I will explain everything when everyone is present." (DK) "Very Well! I shall move to my position!" The wasp proudly said, happy to know he could be of better use. I rose up and headed to the second floor, the nest room. (I sat for an entire night in one position with no pain at all. Is this because I have no muscles? This also probably applies to me when I stand up, walk and run? Ah! The perks of a skeleton!) Chapter XVI - The Pyramid As I was half the way to the second floor, I suddenly bumped with the queen. "My apologies, good morning Cleopatra." I told while helping her regaining posture. "Its alright!" (Cleopatra) "Did more enemies appear?" "Fortunately, no! Tell me how are the cocoons?" (DK) "They are very healthy! It should not be long until the new wasps are born!" The queen told me with a giggle. (Good, because I will eventually need them!) "What about todays eggs?" I curiously asked her as I put my hand on my chin. "Great DK, I normally lay the eggs at midday!" (Cleopatra) "Very well, please come to the Great Hall, so we call speak together." I politely asked her. With a nod, she agreed and went down the stairs. (Well, got nothing more to do upstairs, Ragnar should have returned by now?) As I entered the Great Hall, Cleopatra and Ragnar were waiting for me in front of my resting place. (Now that I think of it, maybe I should ask the wasps to make the floor the same as the walls, with the exception of my bed?) The floor of the Great Hall right now was still covered in grass. I sat on my usual place and looked at the two wasps. "Welcome Ragnar, please give me the cloth." (DK) While he gave me the cloth, I asked for one more favor. "Please, Ragnar go upstairs and bring a few bunnies!" He nodded yes and immediately headed upstairs. As I waited for him to come back, Cleopatra once again laid on my legs as I checked the cloth. (So I was right, the cloth is indeed red! It looks very nice compared to how it looked like before Ragnar washed it!) A few moments later, Ragnar returned with a group of dead bunnies. "Are we going to eat now?" Inquired Caesar who apparently warped in the moment he saw the bunnies. (Seriously? Are bunnies like a drug addiction to this guy? I didn''t even see him approach me!) "Yes, but today will be different." (DK) "Leonidas! Come and join us!" I shouted towards him. I rose up and headed to the right wall of the Great Hall. "Caesar let me borrow one of your swords, and Ragnar, give me a bunny." (DK) After they gave me what I required, I held the bunny on my left hand and the sword with three fingers of my right hand. "Great DK, are you going to eat?" Ragnar asked me, wondering about my actions. "No, just give me a moment," I told him as I opened up a bit of chest of the bunny with the sword. After opening it, I returned the sword to Caesar. "Thank you, now pay attention please." I spoke to them as I inserted my finger inside the bunny and removed it as I made sure it was covered in blood. Taking a few moments, I made a drawing of a pyramid, divided into five floors. "This is a pyramid hierarchy. It''s function is to show the different ranks of this hive. The most important ranks stay on top." (DK) All the four wasps seemed confused at my words. (Well, its still incomplete...) "Now, Cleopatra, I want you to drawn a dot on wich floor you are in, also do the one on where you think I should be in with the bunnies blood." (DK) After hearing me, she dived part of her arm on the bunny and moved near the wall with the pyramid hierarchy, then she drew one circle on the top floor and a second one on the second top floor. Then she turned to me, waiting for my response. "Good! Now I want Ragnar, Leonidas and Caesar to each draw where they think their rank is!" (DK) I waited for all three to make their blood circles on the pyramid. Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.(I was expecting them to draw their circles in the middle or something, but all three picked the lowest one?) I was a bit surprised about their choice. "Cleopatra, where did you draw me?" I asked the queen. "Of course, I put you on the top floor!" She happily answered with another giggle. "Did any of us made it wrong?" (Cleopatra) "Thank you for doing this, now I will explain and fix your ranks." (DK) Before they all panicked about their circles being on the wrong place I told them. "Unfortunately, they are all wrong, but don''t worry, I will teach you the right ranks!" I drew a new circle of blood, but it was not on any of the pyramid floors, it was on top of the pyramid, like the sun or the moon. As I pointed to this new circle, I explained to them. "This is me, the Lord of this Land!" And as I lowered my finger to the first top floor. "This shall be the royalty rank, the queens and princesses belong here!" Then suddenly I pointed at the lowest floor where the three warriors put themselves. "Here is the rank of the unborn wasps!" I started by focusing my finger on the first circle, "This represents the eggs!" I moved my finger to the second circle, "The second one represents the larvae!" and once again I moved my finger to the third circle. "The third circle represents the cocoons!" Quietly. they all kept listening as made another circle on the next floor, above the rank of the unborn wasps. "This rank, is where the newborn waps belong! They will need to be trained for both battle and domestic work!" I explained to them. Then, on the next rank, wich was the middle one, I drew 3 new circles. I told them, "Here is the current rank of Ragnar, Caesar and Leonidas! This rank belongs to Warrior wasps! A warriors wasp job is to teach the newborn waps, improve their current fighting capabilities, fight on the army and will also help complete whatever task the Hive requires of them! For a newborn wasp to become a warrior wasp, he requires to know how to take care of the newborn, how to hunt for food and to know the basics of the sword, spear and shield!" "What about the rank between the royalty and the warrior wasps?" (Cleopatra) I answered her while holding my head on my chin. "Ah, that one will belong to warrior Wasps who either you or me deem worthy of this rank. This rank will be for Wasp Generals!" And I will teach Wasp Generals how to properly lead a warrior wasp army!" "Great DK! Does this mean that I can become a General and personally learn from you?" (Caesar) I told him "Yes." and paused for while the three warriors seemed quite excited. (Considering how these guys don''t seem to have a trained commanding officer on the field, it''s no wonder that they barely survived against the Arach, I seriously doubt that any of their previous queens left the hive at all!) "Caesar, let me borrow your sword again, please!" I once again asked him for his sword. With the sword, I grabbed the cloth and cut it into three pieces. "I want you three to be Wasp generals, and each of you will wear a piece of this red cloth, it shall be the proof from me that you deserved your rank!" (DK) "Great DK! Thank you!" Caesar said to me, gladly taking one piece. "This is a great honor!" (Ragnar) "I-I will try to do my best to be worthy of this!" (Leonidas) In the end, all three wasp warriors accepted them. "Well, Cleopatra, this is all that you need to know, I suggest that you take a few bunnies for yourself and return to your bedroom as the Great Hall is not completely safe!" I suggested to her. "Okay!" The queen released another giggle. "I have to go prepare myself to lay the new eggs anyways!" As the queen of the hive walked away, it was time to teach the new generals of the basics that they needed to know. Chapter XVII - Circle of Shifts I stood there in silence along with the three great warriors. "Uh, Great DK!" Caesar tried to call me. "White God?!?" Ragnar suddenly shouted to me. They kept calling me, wishing for a reply. Then Leonidas decided to step forward and touched my arm in hope of a reaction. "Is there something wrong?" (Leonidas) "I am alright!" I finally answered them. "I was just lost in my thoughts!" (Strange, Did I just blackout? I could ear them talking, but for some reason I couldn''t even think about answering them!) I had no idea what happened to me. "Anyways, for now I would like to know what did you learn about combat in your previous hive?" I inquired the new Generals. A long silence started the moment I asked that question. Finally, Caesar took a step forward. "First, a wasp gets one or two random weapons, then starts doing guard duty and on break time, the wasp has the choice to train with another wasp, when it is commanded by a queen, the wasps will go out of the hive into battle." Caesar paused for a few seconds then continued his explanation. "When we were in battle, we simply used our numbers to attack any enemy, and that''s where I got most of my experience of the sword!" Then Caesar took one step back and at the same time Ragnar took a step forward. (I like how they are letting each one take their time to speak.) The last thing they lacked, was the respect and honor for their brothers, queen and probably me. "My only battle experience was acquired through hunting and the battle of the defense of our hive!" Ragnar informeded us. "I only know how to use a spear!" (Ragnar) Afterwards, Leonidas took a step forward as Ragnar stepped back. "My only experience is from after the fall of the our previous Hive, with the sword and shield that was given to me the moment I left my cocoon!" (Leonidas) (What the fuck? So their military training was pretty much shit mixed with random luck? And how come the more I heard about something new regarding their previous home, the more I believe that most of their civilization was at a caveman level?!?) "What was the population of your previous hive?" (DK) All three looked at each other, taking a minute to respond. "Maybe one thousand? Or five thousand?" Caesar told me, unsure of himself as the other two stayed quiet. (The different in numbers is not helping me at all! But now that I think of it, it wont matter if the birthrate is high if the mortality turns into a monstrous number!) "Thank you, but now, I will give you all the time you need to think for my next question, I don''t care how long you will take to answer." I spoke to the generals with a serious tone. "When you are ready, I want each of you to explain to me, what were the reasons that made your previous hive achieve annihilation?" All three Generals remained quiet. (I wonder what they will answer me later on, even if the Arach outnumbered them ten to one. I doubt that they would fall easily, their enemies might be strong, but they were still unarmed and acted like a mob. Fuck! There''s definitely something fishy about this!) "Don''t worry, take your time to think about it!" (DK) "But for now, let us talk about certain details to improve the Hive!" Stolen content alert: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences. I turned to the wall, to the left side of the pyramid and I kept drawing again, with bunny blood. I drew one large circle and then inside the circle I added many things. On the top middle of the circle, I drew one bunny head, one sword and 1 fish together. While on the left of the circle, I drew one sword, one spear and one shield. Then on the right side of the nside of the circle, I drew one hammer and one egg. To finish it up, I drew three arrows, each one would leave from one set and point to the one on the it''s right side, forming some sort of cycle rotation. "I made this to make it easier for the younger wasps to understand. Every day from now on, all young wasps will work on using this method!" As I was about to go into more details, I had frozen again. "Great DK, could you please explain that method to us?" Ragnar asked as I suddenly got quiet. The three of them looked at each other, wondering if something was wrong. A few seconds passed and I finally answered them. "Yes, just give me a moment to explain." I informed the three Generals. (What the fuck is going on? Its the second time this happens to me!) Trying to figure out what happened. (I don''t feel tired nor I feel any pain, maybe it has to be with my mind and not with my body?) I decided to hurry the explanation. "Okay, to make it simple, on top we have the gathering and transportation of resources, like food and weapons." I paused for a moment, "On the left, we have training and guarding the Hive and on the right we have construction and maintenance of the Hive, helping Cleopatra in her needs and taking care of the unborn wasps. The day will be divided into 4 shifts, the young wasps will be divided on three groups, wich each group will work in one job. Once a shift is done, each group will rotate to another job, this way every young wasp will learn everything he needs to know before becoming a warrior wasp!" (DK) (This might be too complicated for them, but I don''t think they will survive against the Arach if they only got one-third of their Hive ready to receive them!) The three waps looked confused. "W-What about the fourth shift?" (Leonidas) "It is good that you ask that. It seems you understood well!" (DK) At that moment, the three generals felt prouder of themselves. "The fourth shift will be on the late evening. It will be considered break time for young wasps." (DK) "But what about warrior wasps?" (Leonidas) "And us?" (Ragnar) "For now, I want you three to teach the young wasps of their duties, that includes everything that''s on this wall, you also will decide when they can become warrior wasps." (DK) Suddenly I had my third blackout. Fortunately, the wasps did not notice it as they were thinking about what I had just told them... (Again? Dammit, I got to finish this now!) I thought to myself as my last desire, was that these blackouts would become permanent. "Later on, warrior wasps will train young wasps, help in daily shifts if needed, and will be part of the active wasp army."(DK) "Active wasp army?"(Ragnar) "Great DK! Does that mean you plan to attack the Arach?" (Caesar) "Yes and yes, but now, if you don''t mind, I must rest!" I informed them as I stepped straight to my resting place. The three Generals did not say anything else, slowly remembering that their White God would usually rest before sunrise. "So those are the first ones." I mumbled as I saw a few new heads coming down the stairs before going underground into my slumber. Chapter XVIII - The plot armor is great in Slumbering Once again I was underground, making my mind feel so relaxed. "This is so fucking relaxing!" I shouted to myself, in a status of ecstasy. (Before I forget about it, open skill tab!) I commanded in my thoughts. Suddenly the tab appeared, showing everything that I made so far. (Start Weak Shadow Minion!) Weak Shadow Minion ETA: 3 Hours "Now that I confirmed that the wasps are truly my allies with command vision, I think I should get a shadow minion to check out the west since going into that direction might be suicide, even with a 20 wasp escort." With that part done, I closed the skill tab and rested. At some point, I thought for a second to rise up, but then, a strange force made me not do it, it''s like that feeling you have when you wake up after your most perfect comfortable sleep, and the only thing that you wish, is to not leave the bed. (I think this should be enough to prevent those blackouts for some time.) I was thinking that maybe those blackouts where because I had spent a long time out of my grave. Finally, I decided to open my vision and returned to the surface. Like a tiny earthquake sound, I rose up from my grave. The first thing I saw were the two wasps at the entrance, armed with what it seemed to be spears, followed by three wasps who were on my right side, using bunny blood to make sure the drawings would not disapear. At that moment, the five wasps froze as they simply stared at me. (Are they expecting something? Or is it just shyness?) I wondered in my thoughts as I stared at them (Anyways, I will simply wait, it is already good enough that they have not been wiped out while I was resting!) Five seconds later, one of the wasps at the entrance turned his back to the outside, he appeared to be signaling someone only to turn his face to me again. (I wonder where Cleopatra and the Generals are? Giving them the three red cloths was worth the trouble, as it seems, I wouldn''t be able to tell them apart from the young wasps, well, with the exception of the obvious scar that Caesar has on his left eye!) In the end, the only different wasp of their race, were queens like Cleopatra as they had a bigger abdomen compared to the rest of the Hive. A few seconds later, a group of wasps entered the Hive. It was being led by two wasps at the front. Wich had red cloths, one with a spear, the second one had a scar and two swords. (Something happened while I was gone, I am seeing too many spears!) I saw that half of the group carried a spear. The two generals sat down on their usual places in front of me as the rest of the group did the same behind them. As they were more close, I noticed the details of the spears. (Oh! Those spears are not like the first two?) While the first two spears were made of wood and both had an iron tip, these new spears had tips of wood. (In the end, they look like oversized toothpicks to me! Oh wait, the size difference, looks more like an arrow to me?) I was huge compared the weapons that were made for people half of my size. If you find this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the infringement. Suddenly, Caesar broke the silence. "O Great White God! We hope that you took a fine rest, please be at ease as we did not slack while you were in your slumber!" (Ragnar) "Yes! We have hunted, trained and taken care of our young for three days! Those with the wood tip spears were turned into warriors after getting our approval!" (Wait a second, did he just say three days? I slept for three fucking days?!? No, wait, I went at sleep at midday, he said three days, that means I slept for 2 days and a half?) "Tell me, where did you get those wood tip spears?" I inquired the wasps. "Great DK! It was Leonidas idea of using the tree branches of the huge trees!" (Ragnar) "Please don''t worry! He did not cut any of your trees down! And I am sure that everything we used will grow back eventually!" (I don''t really mind about the trees, but it is good that they worried about me caring about trees in my land!) "Good, that way you will have plenty of wood tip spears without spending the forest trees!" (DK) Even so, these spears were not much of a deal, it looked like they were very easy to break. "So, I assume that no Arach attack has happened yet?" (DK) "Fortunately, not yet!" (Caesar) (This is very weird, there should be any kind of enemy movement by now right?) I wondered what was the reason for such ignorance from the Arach to this Hive. "Please do not be afraid of what comes next!" I warned the wasps. (Come to me, Weak Shadow Minion!) I shouted in my mind as I rose my right arm. Slowly, a dark shadow appeared between me and the wasps, it looked like a black spirit, with two red eyes that seemed to be made of pure blood. The wasps were surprised by this new creature as most of them showed fear to it. (Amazing! I can see trough the shadow minion''s eyes!) "Go scout the western forest of this valley at once!" I proudly commanded. The shadow minion nodded and immediately flew away, heading west. As it disappeared, Caesar asked me. "W-What was that? Great DK!" "Just one of my servants." I casually informed him. Everyone stood silent. (Was that little thing really that scary?) I wondered what would happen if they had seen the next level of the shadow minion. "Well, it seems its almost supper time." (DK) "Should we call everyone, so we can all eat together?" The thought of eating bunnies completely erased the shadow minion appearance from Caesar''s mind. "Yes! Excellent idea Great DK!" Caesar shouted with joy. The rest of the waps in the room also agreed, so Ragnar took a few wasps to call everyone and fetch the food. (It''s time to check on everyone, nothing like a big meal to do it!) Meanwhile, the shadow minion was already exploring the middle of the western forest. Suddenly, it heard several noises. (It seems the shadow minion can also share what it ears to me!) (Follow those noises!) I commanded it. As the shadow minion got closer, it was better to identify the noises. (It sounds like barking, scratching and owling? Also a mixed of bones being broken?) Finally, the shadow arrived at the commotion. Chapter XIX - Second Enemy? As the shadow minion arrived at the scene, the first thing that I saw, was an Arach, being ripped apart by a giant gray Wolf. The scenery was nothing more than a bloody battleground, pieces of the Arach bodies were spread out, along with several wolf carcasses. (I wonder if the shadow minion could get a better view from above?) On that moment, the little shadow flew higher, sticking close the trees. (It seems he can also ear what I want? Excellent!) I had a better view of the situation. The wolves were surrounded by the Arach. They seemed to be protecting the entrance to their den wich was located bellow the roots of a huge tree. These wolves were about the size of an adult rabbit, wich were higher than the wasps or the Arach. Suddenly another wolf charged into the Arach lines, but before reaching his target, two enemy Arach came from his sides and grabbed him with their top strong arms. Then, the reckless wolf got bit and hit by the enemy that he himself targeted and in a few seconds, he falled into a deep slumber. After this action, in an instant, those same three Arach responsible for stoping the wolf, grabbed and carried him away. What was stranger, was that right after all other Arach took what they could from their fallen comrade bodies, they ran away with the group of three. (Follow them!) I ordered the shadow minion. As the shadow caught up with the group that carried the wolf, I could see that they did more than capture one wolf. (Fucking hell! They captured six wolves?!?) (Keep following them!) I ordered the shadow minion. It seemed that the Arach would take a while to get to whatever place they came from, so I decided to focus on the wasps. This whole time, my vision of my body was staring at the entrance, wich still was still guarded by 2 wasp warriors. As I lowered my head to check my legs, Cleopatra already laid on them while the three generals along with the entire population of wasps, where in my front, enjoying a monstrous supper. (I cant tell if my awareness sucks or if Cleopatra is a ninja!) With that thought, more random questions appeared in my head, did they knew the term ninja? Were there ninjas in this world? And how many times do the rabbits fuck a day to get so many offspring? Did they just pop out children every day like the wasps? What where the Arach intentions? Why didn''t they take the wolf pack in one strike if they outnumbered them? And if they were taking the wolf bodies, why leave so many dead ones behind with some of their allied dead bodies? At that moment, Cleopatra touched my chin. "Great DK! Is there something wrong?" The queen inquired, she was worried, wondering about why I was so quiet for so long. Enjoying the story? Show your support by reading it on the official site. "Ah, nothing, keep eating, enjoy your meal!" I told her while patting her head. "Okay!" She happily answered, with a giggle. I turned my head to the generals. Ragnar and Leonidas looked back at me, while Caesar threw a question. "Great DK, do you want some bunny?" (Maybe I should tell them?) I opened my right hand, pointing it at them. (Weak Commander Vision!) I activated my skill. Suddenly the 3d cube map appeared showing the valley, with a huge number of green dots on the hive. But this time, the west forest was not grey, instead, it had several red dots and one green dot. "W-What are those?" Asked Leonidas, focusing on the west of the map. "Is this the amazing map the others told me?!?" Cleopatra asked me, it seemed like she was told of this skill, but it was her first time seeing it active. "Yes, Cleopatra" (DK) "Leonidas, red dots are enemies." I informed him. While most of the room was enjoying their meals, my last four words made everyone freeze, and in seconds, I had 62 wasps looking at the cube. (This is sure getting crowded!) I thought to myself as the waps who couldn''t see from behind and decided to fly around and above. I decided to zoom in on the west forest to get better look. In the middle of the west forest, showed 17 red dots, and farther to the west, there was a much larger number of red dots, moving in a non perfect line, wich were followed by a green dot. "Are all those Arach?" (Ragnar) "No," I answered as I pointed to the nearby group, "These are wolves!" I informed the wasps and then I moved my finger to the second group. "This group is made of Arach!"(DK) "My servant is currently tracking them!" I said this while pointing at the green dot. The wasps were concerned, nervous, because now they had two enemies to deal with. "Great DK! I ask you, please allow me to take our warriors! We will kill the wolves and hunt the Arach!" (Caesar) "Yes! And I will attack them from above!" Ragnar shouted as he agreed with Caesar''s plan. "But what if the Arach return in greater number while we are fighting the wolves?" Leonidas suggested. "Then we will kill them!" (Caesar) "But Caesar, Leonidas might be right!" (Ragnar) "Besides. will the wooden spears even be effective against the wolves?" "Great DK? What should we do?" (Cleopatra) "Have patience! For now, we wait! Resume your feast!" I ordered them. (I must first know where those spiders are going before deciding anything!) I decided to wait for more intel. And so, the shadow minion followed the Arach party. Chapter XX - Entrance The Arach group led the shadow minion to the valley''s border, the entrance of the valley. (Wow, the difference is huge!) The scenery was so different compared to the valley. As western forest ended just a bit before the entrance. This entrance was a simple plain that had it''s sides covered by the magical impassible mountain. But what it amazed me the most, was that after that small plain, there was another forest of a different type. The forest in the valley was made of clean huge pinewood trees with random big bushes. (It''s a huge swamp forest?!?) I came to this conclusion. A huge swamp area with trees of a million different shapes spread outside the valley entrance. (So they made sort of a camp? On the plain that''s in between the forests?) At the entrance, the Arach group started to make small piles, first starting with the wolf corpses and then adding the pieces of their own kin. They all sat around the piles and seemed to be waiting for something. "Great DK!" Cleopatra touched my chin as she called me. "Yes?" I answered her. "It''s getting late, so I will go get some sleep!" She informed me. "Very well, good night!" (dk) With a head bow, she left the Great Hall to her bedroom. At that time, almost everyone were done with their meals, the only exception was Caesar who was having a few extra bunnies. "Great DK, have you thought about Caesar''s plan?" (Ragnar) "Y-Yes, I want to know what we will do about our enemies!" (Leonidas) Caesar, busy with a full bunny on his mouth, simply nodded at the other two Generals words. I opened my right hand close to the Generals. "How many warriors do we have?" (DK) "White God! We have 27 warriors prepared to follow your orders!" Ragnar answered in a military tone. With that answer I opened my left hand to the generals. "And how many wood tip spears?" I stared into Leonidas. "W-Well, only have 35 wooden spears!" (Leonidas) Then I held my left hand on my shin. "At first day light, I want you to take 20 young wasps, and make more of those weapons!" I ordered Leonidas. "But, Great DK! What if they attack while we are gone?" (Leonidas) "I don''t think none of our enemies will attack us yet, the wolves are too busy defending their den and the Arach are too busy fighting them!" I informed the wasps of my thoughts. "Very well, Great DK!" (Leonidas) (Yes, there were at least 40 Arach on the group, but they seem to prioritize on the wolves, that''s the reason that until now, only a scout team reached us and since they don''t know what happened to it, they will assume it was the wolves fault!) As I reached to a conclusion, movement happened on the Arach camp. Suddenly from the swamp forest, a dozen more Arach came to join them the camping group. (So does this mean that they use that area as a camp? Do they get reinforcements every night? Or is that a patrol?) I wondered as I checked that none of the new Arachs had any captured bodies with them, so the option that they were a hunting group was erased. Support the author by searching for the original publication of this novel. The smaller group joined in with the larger group and divided trough the piles. Then they started to devour everything, even the bodies of their dead kin. The Arach were cannibals. I decided to stop viewing them, not because of the disgust, but because I would not get intel from them eating. As I looked at the wasps, the three Generals where still on my front. "Ah, Ragnar, tomorrow, pick the five best hunters to hunt bunnies and teach the young wasps." (DK) "Of course! It will be done, but may I ask why?" (Ragnar) "While Leonidas makes more wood tips pears, we will train, as a proper army!" (DK). The three Generals bowed their heads, giving me their confirmation of agreement. (Judging by the wolves numbers, I should have at least one more day, maybe two before the Arach defeat them completely!) "Now, I advice everyone to get a good rest, I will inform the details in the morning!" I informed them as I prepared to rest. (It is still early, but I will need to be awake the next entire day and night, besides I need to update my skills!) I reminded to myself. I waved my hand, wishing good night to the wasps while I went underground. As I felt more comfortable, I closed my vision. (Open skill tab!) I shouted in my mind. The skill tab promptly appeared on my front, with Weak Shadow Minion completed, I had to choose my next skill. (Start Weak Life Leech!) I spoke to the skill tab. But a timer did not start, and a white line surrounding the icon simply appeared. (Oh! I slept for almost 3 days!) I reminded to myself of my previous slumber. (Start Weak Ally Heal!) I screamed at the tab skill. And once again with no timer in sight, another icon was surrounded by a white line. (Excellent! All weak skills learned!) I felt proudful as I decided wich would be my next skill. (Now start Good Ally Heal!) At that moment a timer appeared. Good Ally Heal ETA: 1 day and 18 hours. (Wait, I know I got some extra time, but it should have not been reduced for an entire day!) I wondered while checking the timer and reminded how much free time I had. Was it a bug? That''s what I thought on this moment, the skill was supposed to take 3 days, but according to the timer, it was clear that it was doing it for 2 days. (Oh well, not like it matters, the faster they complete, the better it is for me!) I decided to ignore this "bug". (Close skill tab!) With this task done, I decided to take a break and relax, but this time only for a few seconds, so I would not repeat the previous situation. Chapter XXI - First Army Formations Once again, with a tiny earthquake, I rose to the surface. Standing on my front, waiting for me, was Caesar, ready to greet me with a bow. "Great DK, good morning!" (Caesar) "Good morning." (DK)"Where are the others?" "Leonidas left early, Ragnar just went outside, to train with the warriors and some of our young wasps while we waited for you and our queen is still resting." (Caesar) "Very well, go to them, bring Ragnar and the warriors to me, but leave two of them to help train the young wasps!" Caesar walked outside as I told him, leaving me alone on the Great Hall. "No guards? I guess this counts as guarding for them when you are just outside training" (DK) (Assuming that five warriors are hunting and two are helping with training, there should be twenty wasp warriors at my disposal!) The thought of having such small army gave me a happy feeling. Then the twenty wasps arrived following Ragnar and Caesar. Before they could reach me, I walked to the left side of the Great Hall. Following my action, instead of gathering on the middle, the wasp group surrounded me, forming one half of a circle. (Ah! Great timing!) At this moment, one wasp entered the Great Hall carrying a group of bunnies. "You! Please give me a bunny." I asked the young wasp. Surprised at first, the young wasp stood still for an extra second and then flied over to me, giving what I requested. "Thank you, you may go now!" I told him. With a bow, the wasp left and headed upstairs. As I looked at Caesar and before I asked him again for his sword, he recalled what happened a few days ago and promptly handed me the sword. "White God! I suppose you need this!" (Caesar) "Yes, please pay attention, everything that I draw on this wall, is something that every wasp general and warrior should know about!" (DK) The entire group sat on the ground, remaining silent. (So, how should I form the wasp military?) I thought while staring at the wall, ready to draw. "For now I will teach you only the basics!" (DK) I draw one small rectangle, with four dots forming a line inside of it. "This is a squad!" (DK) "It will be made of four warriors who will work together as a team to defeat the enemy!" I paused for a second, then drew a larger rectangle that was almost a square, to the right side of my previous drawing, it had five lines of four dots inside of the que square. "This is a platoon! They are a group of wasp squads designed to fight enemy groups!" (DK) Below my previous drawings, I drew several dots in several positions. The first one was a horizontal line of four dots, the second one was the same four dots but they formed a square, the third had the dots sticked together wich made it look like the number 88. These were two basic formations and one type of attack movement. "Now, I want you warriors, to make groups of four!" (DK) As they made the groups, Ragnar asked me. "What about us?" "For now just look, listen and learn." (DK) "It seems the groups are made, now, I want each squad to form a horizontal line towards me! Now!" I ordered them with a shout. After a few seconds, the squads had made a line, but these lines were not in sync. "What you are doing right now, is a squad line formation!" I informed as I pointed to the first formation drawing. Reading on Amazon or a pirate site? This novel is from Royal Road. Support the author by reading it there."Good!" (DK) "But now I want it in a normal platoon formation! So now, one squad will stay on the line in my front, while the other ones will go behind them forming a rectangle!" I commanded them. It took a minute, but finally the platoon formation was made. The twenty wasps, made five horizontal lines of four wasps. all lined up, perfectly together, wich was the same as saying it was 4 vertical lines of five wasps. "Excellent! That is the normal platoon formation, if you are ordered, you will always walk and fight on that position, is that clear?" (DK) "Yes! White God!" With a great shout the twenty warriors replied. "Now I will teach you the squad square formation!" (DK) "I want the first squad to take a step forward!" The four warriors took one step forward, still keeping their line. "The warriors on the sides of the squad will now get behind on the ones in the middle!" I informed the warriors and with haste, they formed a square squad formation. "That is the square squad formation, while the two on the front fight, those in the back will be there for support, if the ones on the front get tired, they switch lines with those in the back!" (DK) "Once I say switch, those in the back will change position with those in the front, I ask that those in the front use their wings to fly backwards! Ready? Switch!" I shouted as I commanded then. And so the two wasps in the front flew up backwards while the two in the back took a step forward. "Now I want the four squads in the back, to do the same, but to line up with the first squad on both sides!" (DK) This time, they performed better, the four squads lined up, two on the right, two on the left and with the first one on the middle in seconds. "What you are doing now, is a square platoon formation!" (DK) "Now please, take three steps backwards!" I heard three great sounds, the steps that the wasps made at the same time, in sync, was like a troop march. "Now I will ask you to do the wasp attack!" (DK) "The warriors on the front will stay still, holding their grounds, while the second line flies from above and dives in to the front." The warriors stood still as I and the Generals watched them. "Wasp attack!" I commanded the warriors with a shout. Suddenly, the second line flied over, rushing in from above with all their speed to the front. "When you do a wasp attack, if there is an enemy on the front, you will aim fast and kill him with this move!" (DK) "Do not forget! The line formation, square formation and wasp attack! That''s all that I ask you for now!" (This is what I need them to know so I can win against that Arach group) "Also remember to do these formations when a general tells you to!" (DK) "Any questions?" "If I may ask, when do we use these formations?" (Ragnar) "Yes, I don''t think its worth knowing all this information if we don''t know how and when to use it!" (Caesar) I stared at them as everyone in the room was waiting for my answer. "You wont learn everything about this in a single day, I will explain better to you Generals once Leonidas returns with more wooden spears." (DK) "What do we do until they return then?" (Caesar) "I will simply sit and wait, add these formations to your training, go outside and keep training!" (Dk) The two Generals confirmed their orders with a nod and the 20 warriors bowed before going outside for training while I sat down in my usual place. (I hope that Leonidas brings enough spears, I need at least 80 of them!) "Still no movement? Uh, good." I mumbled while seeing the shadow minion''s eyes. The shadow minion was still monitoring the Arach group, but they were either sleeping, eating leftovers or playing around. With the exception of a few young wasps coming and going with bunny stacks, there was full peace in the Hall. I wondered if this was what people call "the calm before the storm". Chapter XXII - Preparation In the south forest, surrounded by trees, Leonidas and twenty young wasps were busy working on the wood tip spears. "My General, is this good enough?" A young wasps asked Leonidas about a new made spear . "Let me see it!" Leonidas said to the young wasp, quickly grabbing the spear he made. "The tip could be more sharped, like this!" He told the young wasps as he grabbed his sword to use it to sharp the wood tio spear. After a few seconds, he pointed the spear to the young wasps "Like this! Now, keep working!" He ordered the wasp. All the wasps were busy, trying to do their best to make the wood tip spears. At each time one of them would finish it, they would show it to Leonidas, who was sitting with his back on a tree, with a pile of new spears on his right side. "I should have asked Caesar for his swords. It seems I will have to properly sharp all the tips myself!" Leonidas decided to himself after watching the wasps complete their spears. While the wasps could use their mouths to break and shape the wood to some extension, to make a sharp tip, it would require something like a sword for that job. "Let''s take a break!" Leonidas shouted to the young wasp group. The wasps all sat in front of Leonidas, happy to rest after working for several hours. "I hope White God is happy with what we did!" A young wasp spoke. "Yes! Me too!" A second young wasp added to the conversation. "I don''t mind all this work, but I cant wait to be a warrior!" A third young wasp declared. "You can barely eat a full bunny and you want to be a warrior before me?" The first young wasp commented to the third young wasp''s dream. "Have patience. I am sure that all of you will be great warrior wasps someday!" Leonidas encouraged the wasps. The wasps were happy to ear that from Leonidas. "Resting too much is for young waps! I will keep working!" The third wasp shouted as he rose up. In that moment, one by one, every young wasp returned to work and as Leonidas looked at them, he felt delighted of their efforts towards their hive. The wasps kept working, while Leonidas kept having deep thoughts while he sharped every wooden spear the young wasps made. Time slowly passed as the wasps were nursing, hunting, crafting and training. Now it was late afternoon as Leonidas looked at the sky above, the young wasps who were working, paused to see what he was doing. "General, what''s wrong?" One of them inquired their leader. Leonidas looked back at the group. "These are the last spears that we make today, let us finish them up quickly so that we rejoin with our hive!" Leonidas politely ordered the young wasps. The young wasps did not hurry to finish the work. They took their time, but they were happier, as training and then supper were soon to come. Meanwhile, inside the Hive. (What should I do now?) I wondered, asking myself what to do, everyone had their orders, so in the end, I was kinda bored. (I guess I will check the floors?) I decided as I rose up and walked to the direction of the stairs. As I reached the second floor, two young wasps were there, either guarding the door or simply resting, probably both things. The young wasps immediately bowed the moment they saw me and I responded with a wave using my right hand, I did not speak as I passed trough them. (I don''t know what to say to them, better to be quiet than to say a potential mistake.) Entering the nest room, I could see that it was full of eggs once more and that there was something new. (I was wondering how they had space, it was very smart from them to use the entirety of the room!) I had been asking myself, how would such large number of the eggs, larvae and cocoons fit in this room. But looking at the ceiling, there they were, the cocoons, all hanging in there, with the addition of several young wasps looking after the larvae. It took a few moments, but slowly, they noticed I was there, they politely bowed to me and then continued their work. (I think I will check the next floor, it would be for the best that I do not disturb Cleopatra while she is laying eggs...) If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it.Moving to the third floor, there was a larger change than the previous room, huge piles of bunnies were spread all across the food chamber and several others were either hanging on the ceiling or lined up along the walls. (What the fuck?) I was surprised at the view, there were a few hundreds of bunny corpses in the room. As I grabbed one of the bunnies with my right hand, slowly I mumbled. "Wish I knew how to make a coat with them." After throwing the dead bunny to one of the piles, I returned to the Great Hall. Going back in time, outside the Hive, the main Wasp force was training. At first, there was confusion, Ragnar and Caesar disagreed as they had different opinions. "You need to be faster!" Ragnar screamed at the slower wasps, "Being slow can be the death of you!" he stated. "You have to strike with a strong blow!" Caesar commanded the warriors as they tried the wasp attack move. With these words from the 2 generals, the formation attack lost it''s sync, while the strong wasps were still in the middle of flying above the first line of wasps, the faster wasps had already completed the attack movement. Hours passed, and nothing changed with the exception of the increasing frustration and confusion in the group. "You all must perform the attack at the same time!" (Caesar) "Then tell your wasps to be faster!" Ragnar screamed at Caesar. "How about your wasps stop making weak attacks?" Caesar angrily answered with a suggestion. The warriors were confused, while they had previous trained with the Generals together, this was something different. "Are you telling me that speed is not important?" Ragnar inquired Caesar for his opinion. "Speed is important, but it''s not worth having speed with that kind of weak attacks!" Caesar informed the group. With this phrase, their argument stopped as both Generals were thinking of how to fix this situation. "We are both right, what should we do then? We cannot focus on only one of these things." Ragnar asked Caesar for a solution as in the end, he was the oldest wasp of the group. "Yes, wasps need to be faster, stronger and learn to be in sync!" (Caesar) Both generals looked at each other and decided to work together. After a pause of a few minutes, the wasps resumed their formation training. The Generals decided to throw their frustrations and kept trying to help the wasp warriors to improve. The problem was that they only had one day and the pressure was heavy on them. It was different from when the young wasps could take the time they needed to learn the basics of hunting and fighting with weapons. They were all feeling this heavy pressure, they all knew that a single wasp warrior failing that day, could later on become a strong step into extinction. Hours passed and slowly the sync showed inside the great hall, had returned once again outside the hive. After a moment, the young wasp group returned along with Leonidas, flying low, above the grass, each one carried a large number of spears. The warrior group stopped their training as the young wasps carried the wooden tip spears to inside while Leonidas headed to the other two Generals. "What are you doing?" Leonidas inquired Caesar and Ragnar as the wasp warriors stood in formation. "Training what White God taught us this morning!" (Ragnar) "Yes, this is the wasp formation!" (Caesar) "Formation?" (Leonidas) "Yes, we will explain you in the way, Great DK asked for the three of us to join him once you arrived." (Caesar) With that, the warrior wasps resumed the previous training with weapons as the Generals walked into the great hall. As the Generals reached the entrance and the young wasps group were leaving, one of them informed the generals that the Great White God had told them that they could train with the warrior wasps. And so, the Generals sat in front of White God, in the future, history of this world would describe this moment as the First War Council. Chapter XXIII - War Council The Generals and I faced each other. We were the only ones in the Great Hall, with the exception of the young wasps that occasionally would bring in more food and then went out to hunt some more. As I stared at the Generals, I started by asking Leonidas. "How many wooden tip spears did you made?" "Due to the time and number of young wasps and their experience, we were only able to make 320 wooden tip spears!" Leonidas informed everyone in the room. I held my left hand on my chin, thinking about what Leonidas report. "My apologies if it is not enough, if you agree I will depart at once to make more!" Leonidas spoke, concerned that the weapons weren''t enough as I kept my silence. At that moment, I took my hand off my chin and moved it to the sides, expressing a no. "The number of spears is enough, I am glad with the number." (DK) "There will be a need for more weapons, but that, hopefully will be in the future!" (They actually made way more than what I was expecting, but then again, in the end, it''s just sticks of wood, if it was with iron tips, then it would take days, weeks, maybe even months!) The truth was that the previous wooden tip spears, were made by only Leonidas, so it was clear that the sudden increase of workers would have boost spear production. "Great DK, if I may speak, I think I found my answer to your question!" Leonidas declared in the Great Hall. (Interesting, let''s see what caused the downfall of their original Hive!) "Very, tell me then, take the time that you need for your answer." I informed Leonidas as Ragnar and Caesar kept earing our words. "The reason our previous Hive was lost..." Leonidas paused, as he was nervous of what to say. For two minutes, the entire Great Hall was silent. "The reason for the Hive''s fall was that we lacked weapons, also the warrior wasps were not feeded well!" Leonidas spoke, with a shout. (Interesting, I only expected for them to have a low number of weapons, but they also lacked food?) I looked at them more closely, their bodies did change a bit. (Now that they mention it, their arms seem a bit larger?) "Compared to what you eat now, how bad did you previously ate?" I asked the Generals as they looked at each other. Ragnar looked at me, it seemed it would be him to give me an answer. "Compared to the bunnies that we can eat here daily, the quantity would equal of one-fourth a bunny of our daily meal in our previous Hive." (Ragnar) "Yes! We are very grateful! We have never been this well feed in our lives!" Caesar proudly thanked me. "And our arms and legs, I never imagined they could grow to this size!" Leonidas added as I looked again at them. (Now that he mentions it...) While most of their bodies remained unchanged, compared to the first night, their members seemed larger and stronger. (Only now I noticed, I am fucking disappointed with myself, I should have noticed it without the need of them telling me!) "I am pleased that you are all being well feed, but now I am curious about the weapons part." I immediately wanted to know how the hell they lost so easily as I was sure that they had way better weapons than what we currently have. "Well, I thought we had enough weapons..." (Caesar) " at least enough to fight off the Arach. When we were chosen to protect our queen Cleopatra, everyone of the guard group were armed!" "Great DK, actually, there is something else that I heard from other wasps at the time I was born!" Leonidas informed us. "What did you hear?" I asked him as Ragnar and Caesar were surprised at Leonidas words. Leonidas slowly spoke, "The wasp that gave my shield and sword, he told me." he quoted the wasp."Take these weapons and use them well!" "But as I was leaving the room, I heard him talking with another wasp as they were preparing a last stand," Increasing his voice."That two-thirds of the weapons were missing!" At that moment, if I wasn''t a skeleton, I would be making one huge surprised face. "Do you know any more details regarding the missing weapons?" (DK) "No, Great DK, I don''t!" He answered with a low voice. "I had no idea that such things happened!" Caesar expressed his lack of knowledge in surprise at learning about the missing weapons. (This means that the Arach got infiltration units?) With my left hand on my chin, I looked at the Generals, thinking of what to say. (No, that''s, not possible, is it?) Reminding of the previous two combats and how they were fighting aggainst the wolves, it was unlikely they had such skills as they acted more like a war tribe or a wild pack and wouldn''t even use weapons. There was another possibility, much stronger that this one. (There''s a high chance that there''s another faction helping the Arach! Yes... That must be it!) "For now let''s leave this matter for the future until we get more clues to what happened." I suggested to the wasps. "Very well, Great DK!" Leonidas agreed as the other two nodded. "Now, Leonidas, everything that you said, is right, thank you for your honest answer." As I told this to Leonidas, Ragnar and Caesar seemed worried with my words. I rose my right hand and told the Generals. "Do not worry, Leonidas may answered my question, but you both don''t have to do it now, as I said, take all the time that you need!" (The last thing I want is for them to rush things. They must learn to think for themselves!) And a brief silence fell into the Great Hall. "So now, we should talk about tonight!" I informed the Generals. (Activate Weak Commander Vision!) In an instant, the 3d map appeared between me and the Generals, showing all the blue dots, the wasps that were outside training, hunting and those inside as well. But our focus was not what was near us, but to the western forest and the exit of the valley. You might be reading a pirated copy. Look for the official release to support the author. Fifteen dots appeared at the wolves home while the Arach group along with it''s last nights reinforcements, were still at the exit, showing 52 red dots. "If we take all the warriors and young wasps, I am sure we will win!" Said Caesar, with high pride, hungry for battle. "Yes! We will outnumber them!" Added Ragnar as he looked at the map. "And there''s weapons for everyone!" Said Leonidas, to boost the reason to attack. Once again, I kept my left hand on my chin, staring at the map as the General awaited for my reply to attack and grant their revenge. "Our forces could indeed outnumber them, but think of the losses!" I informed the Generals. The truth was that, taking all the wasps would result in heavy casualties, more than sixty percent were not ready. While a warrior wasp could potentially beat or hold equal against an Arach in battle, the young ones would perish easily. "If we attack with all the wasps, we will turn into a mob and not an army, wich is the same strategy as the Arach, if that happens, saying that half the young wasps would perish, is the best outcome of such battle!" At my words, the General kept silence, it was clear that losing half of the Hive population in a single night, would be terrible, and that half was only if we had the best outcome. "Also, if we all go into battle, what if another scout party gets past us? Will we leave the Hive empty? Your queen and unborn wasps unprotected?" I added another strong disastrous possibility to the plan. (The truth is that I plan to beat the Arach with fewer numbers, I could go with a large untrained numbers, but why should I do that?) I was pondering not only the battle, but also what came afterwards, I was sure that such a large wasp army would be found by the wolves the moment we were close, increasing the chances of facing not only the large Arach force but also the wolfpack. Facing the small force of the Wolfpack could even be harder, as one wolf could rip apart an Arach so easily, just imagine what it would do with a young wasp. Even after winning against two forces, there was still the Arach reinforcements, would they come this night? If yes, how many will come? One of the Generals broke their silence. "Great DK, what should we do then?" (Caesar) Following him, Ragnar said, "Yes, we cant stay here doing nothing!" worried that the Arach could eventually reach the Hive. "Y-Yes..." (Leonidas) "We will attack tonight!" I shouted at the Generals. "But..." Leonidas tried to speak up, but was cut by my next words. "But we will do it so with a small force, in that way, chances of us being discovered will be less, and in emergency, it will be easier to retreat." I informed them. "Once our attack force is assembled, we will depart to this location," I told them as I pointed my finger to an area between the Hive and the wolfpack location. I estimated that the distance between that area and wolfpack was around two hundred meters, that should be enough to hide the wasp army with the help of the trees. "After we get there, what then?" Ragnar asked me, the same question that Caesar and Leonidas had. "My minion will be ahead to warn me the moment the Arach move to engage the wolves," (DK) "once I confirmed that the two groups are fighting each together, we divide into two forces. The main force, wich will be the larger one, will move slowly and silently to not be discovered" At this moment, I pointed right into our front against the wolfpack. "And the second force?" Asked Ragnar. "Ragnar, you will lead the second force and take a longer path around the area to the back of the enemy forces, here!" I told him as I pointed just a bit behind the location of the wolfpack. "My minion will go with you as a guide, once you see him moving to the enemy group, it will be the command from me, ordering to attack." The Generals kept silence, waiting to see if I had something else to say. "One more thing, until the battle starts, you are not allowed to fly!" I commanded them. "When you fly, you make a strong noise with your wings, and we must not let our enemies find about our presence until we allow them to, is that clear?" I told them with a shout. "Yes! Great White God!" The Generals shouted back, confirming that they understood what I wanted. "Now there is one more thing. Ragnar''s group will carry with their personal spears plus one extra spear, while the main group will carry their own with the addition of three spears!" "Uh, why do we have to carry extra spears?" Caesar inquired, raising confusion on the 3 General''s mind. "Once we start the battle, before the Arach or the wolves get close to us, I will give the order to throw one spear at a time, one rain of spears into the enemy force, even if the wooden tip spears are weak, I am sure that there will be fewer enemies after throwing the extra spears!" Basicaly the extra spears would be used as javelins. Until that moment, we were sitting on the floor the entire time, but after this last line, the three Generals fastly rose up. "Great Idea!" Caesar proudly declared. "Yes! We will kill lots of Arach!" (Ragnar) "And when we start fighting, there will be less of them!" Leonidas shouted, happy to hear that this would mean less danger for the wasps. (I guess they dont know much about ranged weapons?) "Good to see that my plan makes all of you happy, now there is one last thing that I need you to do." I informed the Generals. At these words, they sat again, ready to hear me. "Great DK! What do you need us to do?" Caesar asked, ready and proud. "Return to the training ground, and check if theres any possible young wasps who can become a warrior wasp, afterwards, we shall have supper, so we can depart earlier." I ordered the Generals. "At once!" Ragnar immediately answered and then flew to the outside. "Very well!" Leonidas bowed with his head and followed Ragnar. "An earlier supper! Sounds good! Great DK, excuse me!" Caesar replied before leaving. And so, I was alone in the Great Hall.
