《A place Between Worlds》 Dare to dream Yet another day of the world passing me by... like the never-ending rapid of time had started to speed up but that was ok, I had found my safe place where the rapids flow has settled into calm waters, that was the thing I loved about coffee shops. And this one in particular was one of a kind. It didn''t have many customers but the ones it did would stay for hours minding their own business not making too much noise, it was perfect. I placed the dusty book on the polished wooden table in front of me and took a look at my depleting cup of coffee. Before returning my gaze to this peculiar book i had recently acquired. Pages that should have crumbled to dust by now and a cover that has seen many more years than myself. What happened to you?.. A few dust particles could be seen hovering in the golden shafts of afternoon light, it was fast approaching that magical twilight hour where it is said worlds connect, a single Girl sat in that coffee shop, alone, unwanted, unneeded but she didn''t care. She just read that book every day in that same corner time not bothering her. i touched the book and felt it again that sense of freedom like the weight of the world had been lifted, getting comfy i leaned back in my seat and tock a deep breath in anticipation before wrenching open the pages. The world went dark, the coffee shop faded, time stopped and i fell. How long had i been falling? Where was i? Did it matter? A cold detached sensation fell over me sending panic spikes through my entire being, then the soft grass and radiant glow on my skin was all i could feel my eyes flicked open an impossible emerald green reflecting the millions of stars that passed above showering the world in a spectrum of colors. Gravity was lighter on this world taking in a breath of fresh air i felt my body become weightless as excitement pulsed through me with every rapid heartbeat. i focused all energy in my legs, before i knew it i was running breaking through the biolumenent forest faster than any car i had been in, the world blurred around myself then the ground was suddenly missing as i broke through the branches of the last trees that stood upon the tallest cliff i had ever seen, now i was really flying, or falling really slowly i couldn''t tell¡ I didn¡¯t care, the lands stretched out before me were a jumble of different worlds that were impossible... a futuristic city with buildings that challenged the heavens themselves loomed in the east, massive fantasy creatures and entire city¡¯s carved out of trees that also seemed to push the very idea of physics loomed towards the north and a war torn devastated corrupted land existed between both these proud lands with horrific and terrifying creatures of its own looming high above it. I froze as I struggled to believe my eyes, after a moment I realized I was still falling, below me was a massive outstretched valley where battles were raged reflecting the fury of the super nova¡¯s that passed above. here i felt more alive than ever before, energy coursed through my veins as i broke the sound barrier, i angled my body towards the largest part of the stream i could see as a crazed grin ripped across my face This novel is published on a different platform. The water shot upwards as the entire stream was thrown into the air causing all creatures in the surrounding area to scamper away, i stood up slowly as the once full stream was now raining down on top of me. This is where i felt more alive than ever. But my small moment of triumph was quickly replaced with fear as now i could feel eyes on me, savage eyes with a hint of intelligence. Everything went dark and the world faded as i dropped to my knees, the world was replaced with bright artificial light directly above my table which now held my ice cold coffee. "Sorry but I¡¯m going to have to ask you to leave soon, the shop is closing now" O i really lost track of time again didn''t i... reluctantly i closed the book and slid it into my bag, the walk home didn''t take long this was the closest coffee shop to me, i had been visiting it for years now... i stopped mid thought and gazed up at the empty night sky, this world... is so ugly. Even the stars would rather not show themselves. i truly do wish a better world existed, one where we won¡¯t slaves one in which power meant everything not power as in the rich but power as in the strength to take down gods... but that wish is too much now isn¡¯t it! Worlds like that only exist in books... books which contain our very own dreams. The night didn¡¯t answer me not that i thought it would. Returning home i found my dinner on the table with another note from my mother begging me to come home earlier, but what¡¯s the point. I barely see her since all she does is work, ever since dad left us. Anger now burning in me i ran into my bedroom messy as always, carefully i stepped over and through the piles of books on my floor to reach the bed. i placed the dusty old book on my pillow and got comfy before running my eyes over its cover once again. I wish there was a better world than this, did you end up finding it dad? Or was all those years just a fucking waste of time for you to just up and leave me in the end! Tears fell and rolled across the cover. Just once more please let me be free, let me fly and grow. I¡¯m sorry dad. My room faded again for the last time I awoke back into that world of impossibilities, a sad smile spread across my face. Here I actually have a life, something to look forward to¡ this is just the beginning. The End of the Beginning? The first thing that greeted me was an endless void. With billions of little points of light each different but still connected making up a vast network against a black canvas. The ground was warm and welcoming while the slow breeze nipped at any exposed skin it could find. It was darker than I remembered, pulling my gaze away from the heavens I sat up. a small stream of lightly glowing blue liquid greeted me as it reflected the world like a liquid mirror. Each ripple caught the beauty of the stars that passed above making the water twinkle in response. Lush untamed plant life surrounded me blocking my entire view of the world beyond. Taking a closer look at the stream I saw my own emerald eyes and dark purple hair, the soft blue glow cascading around my face emphasizing my features. This entire place seems to be better than reality, suddenly the world was bathed in a deep red hue, looking up made my heart freeze. A massive gas cluster was now visible in the night sky, like the ones NASA took photos of. 30 minutes later it was gone. Is this even a planet? The world shook and I was on my feet before I had a chance to continue that thought a defining rumble and blinding light shot across the mountain range behind me leaving nothing but dead blackened land in its path. After I finally realized what just happened I started to panic and run, I broke through the forest as fast as my legs would take me, narrowly avoiding branches and almost losing my balance on several occasions. Every few minutes a massive bang could be heard, it was further away this time but I wasn¡¯t sticking around to find out where it was from. After hours of running I finally collapsed in a small clearing at the edge of the forest. Darkness almost consumed me until I was jolted back by another bright flash What the fuck The fantasy type city was finally visible. And it was engulfed in flames How far have I run? The air shimmered as a crimson wave of energy slammed into nothing just before the city. Painfully limping further forward to get a better view of where that energy came from I see the city of tech protected by a brightly crackling wall of energy. ¡ ¡ A fucking war This isn¡¯t some stupid transported to another world stories, I¡¯m no hero¡ Time froze, my thoughts stopped mid-sentence ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ All movement stopped for a brief moment within that dark space. I rubbed my eyes and leaned back removing my headset. This is taking quite a strange twist¡ maybe I should have planned ahead events or something? Looking down at my empty coffee cup I sighed. I can?t lose you again All life was drained from this reality, with a single patch of green existing between both girls. But I couldn¡¯t help but shiver to the sensation of being watched Days had passed, and I was a mess. The hopelessness of my reality was finally starting to sink in, I¡¯m going to die in the most beautiful place I¡¯ve ever seen¡ all alone. I¡¯ve never thought I would miss what is left of my family, but here I am sitting on the edge of a cliff starting out into open space. This colossal land mass all jumbled together is simply soaring through the heavens, I witness a planet system pass below close enough to actually make out details, If I was to just lean forward would I fall into oblivion? Countless thoughts and emotions I didn¡¯t know how to handle raced through my head This place of wonder and freedom had quickly crumbled into a pit of death and despair A single tear escaped as I lightly pushed forwards solid ground was no longer beneath me and a wave of terror shot through me My body gained momentum and speed as I fell towards the stars ERROR ? I was standing on thin ear with strange red text glowing beneath my feet Above me the land mass continued to rotate and space still moved around me ¡°Please make this all stop!¡± Unknown ¡°Who are you?¡± That voice boomed with the power and essence of control over reality it¡¯s self ¡°I¡¡± Wait? What is my name, I honestly can¡¯t remember! Unknown ¡°how did you get here¡± I answered obediently as to not offend powers greater than myself ¡°Within a book this world existed, and while reading it¡¡± A figure appeared before me, a man with golden eyes and ink black hair that reached his back, a perfectly created outfit and crown was also present He locked eyes with me and I couldn¡¯t help but gasp at how they saw straight into my soul Unknown ¡°this will be difficult since they are still watching¡± In confusion I glanced around Unknown ¡°you are currently in a place between worlds, not quite within the real world but not entirely within your story either.¡± His words took a while to sink in¡ my story? Unknown ¡°indeed most characters reside within their own world as you can see by that massive chunk of flying land mass, it is the collective data of all worlds except only parts are used by each story.¡± ¡°Who are you?..¡± I¡¯m not really sure if I wanted to hear the answer after that info dump Unknown ¡°some refer to me as R. Roadl, I am admin within this domain. But I assume the author would know more about that than you would.¡± ¡°Is my life all but a lie, am I just some worthless thought within someone¡¯s head?¡±
  1. Roadl ¡°we might all be just a figment of someone¡¯s imagination in the grand scheme of things but one thing is certain. You were indeed alive at one stage same as all other characters here, this website was created to contain their memories.¡±
¡°But how am I alive if I¡¯m part of some novel?¡±
  1. Roadl ¡°I said you were alive once, it¡¯s actually extremely ironic really. So many story¡¯s about recantation and yet not a single person has realized that those stories are just an author¡¯s flashbacks to their previous life, and this so called writers block is what happens when an author can¡¯t remember their previous death. So many stories are cut short because the author¡¯s time in that world actually ended.¡±
¡°Why tell me all this?¡±
  1. Roadl ¡°I¡¯m not telling you, I¡¯m telling your recantation. The one currently recalling past memories and writing them down for others to read.¡±
Hello author And we can¡¯t forget the audience either It¡¯s been a pleasure but I¡¯m afraid this story is coming to an end I¡¯d be careful if I were you, after all how do you know your own story hasn¡¯t already ended?
