《Blind Strings》 Light Prologue Nobody knows when the last goodbye is¡ *Light turns green* [Man]: ¡°Want me to walk you back to your house?¡± [Woman]: ¡°It¡¯s alright. My house is just right across the street. I¡¯ll see you tomorrow at work!¡± *Splish splash splish splash* [Man]: ¡°Bye then Joelie, love you!¡± As the woman crossed the street, she turned and gave a smile before waving to the man whom she love. At this moment, their eyes met and a bright white light flashed from the edge of the man¡¯s eyes. Although it was only for a split second, the flash of white light brought along an image¡ An image of an accident. The man saw an image of a truck on a street he was familiar with; a street which his love one was at as she waved at him. *Eeeeee¡¡* Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings. *Bang* Before he could shout out to her, a truck slid along the road and knocked her flying a few meters away, crushing the side of her body which met head on with the vehicle. The man fell right onto his knees. His world shattered when that woman met into an accident in front of him. When the ambulance and the rescue team came to the scene, there was already a huge commotion as curious onlookers gathered, but the man heard nothing. Silence as if he was deaf. The world around him was quiet. Staring at his own reflection from the puddle at the roadside, tears began trickling down his eyes and down his chin before landing into the puddle, making slight ripples in it. Only after the rescue team left with the ambulance did the crowd disperse and the man finally stood up. He turned and dragged his feet down the road which he walked almost everyday and his eyes looked nowhere else but at the path beneath his feet. The man knew, if anyone were to gaze directly into his eyes, they would definitely stop him from proceeding any further. But his mind was already blank and he was not thinking straight. Reality was harsh on him and he felt like nothing else matters to him anymore. His world was gone forever, together with his loved one. After a while, he saw the familiar tiles on the ground from the tip of his eyes. He looked up, and right in front of him was his old and comfortable high-rise apartment. Tired, he let out a long and deep sigh before heading in. Instead of taking the lift, he slowly climbed up the flight of dusty stairs. The door to his house was on the sixth storey, but he was already way past it. Gradually, he arrived at the highest storey he could reach and he gazed out. The magnificent wind blew cooly against his face and he gave another long sigh before closing his eyes for a moment. When he reopened them, he saw a vague figure waving at him with a smile at the other apartment opposite to his. Even though he could not quite see her clearly, he knew who she was for he was very close with her. [Man]: ¡°Joelie, I¡¯m coming.¡± The man spoke as if his spirit had left with those words. The man used all the strength he had to place his two feet above the railings before finally taking a step forward and a white light flashed across his eyes; the same light which he saw when his woman met with an accident¡ Light 1 Several centuries ago, a cosmic phenomenon occurred in the Solar System, giving the five currently habitable planets a gift each; a gift which caused unrest among the society. As to why the phenomenon occurred, no one really knew. However, scientists from these planets came together and finally classified this phenomenon as a higher form of evolution. It all started with the newborns. In the beginning, the signs were unclear, but as these newborn babies grew older, their gift became more distinct and obvious. Earth was gifted with ¡®The Eye¡¯, allowing its inhabitants to pry into the future of any creature with eyes to see its future. In the Year 2301, the first evolved human was elected as the spokesman of the Earth, to represent the planet in making political ties with the other four planets. That itself symbolized the beginning of the evolved humans populating the world, and the gradual dying out of those who were ordinary.Support the creativity of authors by visiting the original site for this novel and more. Now, in the Year 2401, the once named ¡®unordinary¡¯ was now ordinary and likewise, the once ¡®ordinary¡¯ was now unordinary. In recent years, a law was passed to eradicate the unordinary. Those who were suspected to be helping the unordinary shall be wiped off together with them. News reported that this was not just any law, but the first planetary law passed by each head of the planet for they believed it was time for the planets to progress forward with little to no baggage to drag it down. Project: New Light. There were no way for the unordinary to protect themselves for they were those who never received the light and those who had lost the light forever. None dared to protest out in the streets and there were no movements to fight for their rights #UnordinaryLivesMatter, they were left to live under fear. When will their lives be snatched away by the planetary government, they do not know¡ *Beep beep beep* *Murmur murmur* [Man]: ¡°Where am I?¡± Light 2 [Man]: ¡°Where am I?¡± ¡°Why''s it so dark? And why can''t I move?¡± The sound of the chains rattling could be heard as the man tried to struggle free, but to no avail. [Officer]: ¡°Lucian Kepp, you''re hereby under arrest. For having lost your light, your sentence is death.¡± [Lucian]: ¡°That can¡¯t be!¡± Lucian screamed in agony, trying to break himself free from the cuffs that chained him onto the bed. He could see nothing except for a large blanket of darkness; and in that darkness, the tragic scene repeatedly replayed in his mind as if he was witnessing at the pavement once again. Gradually, the rattling sounds calmed and tears rolled down from the side of his eyes. His world was already gone; there was no longer a point in living. [Guard]: ¡°Sir, the carrier is here.¡± [Officer]: ¡°Good. Transfer this unordinary into the capsule. Proceed to moving the capsule into the carrier and be ready for take off in 30 minutes.¡± [Guard]: ¡°Yes Sir! Understood Sir!¡±This text was taken from Royal Road. The guard saluted as the officer left and he slammed his palm onto the nearby wall. ¡®Bang!¡¯ That signaled to the rest of the guards to enter the emergency holding chamber. Loud footsteps could be heard as the heavy military boots stomped on the concrete floors. Once the sounds of footsteps died down, an instruction was given and the chains became unlocked before the man was stiffly secured by the guards to prevent any form of resistance as they moved him into the capsule. *Click click click* The locks on the capsule were locked. One at the top, one at the middle, and one at the bottom. Those were no ordinary locks; they were locks that could only be undone by the executioner. Inside the capsule, it was fully enclosed and no light could enter from the outside; not that anyone inside the capsule needed any. [Guard]: ¡°20 minutes before carrier takeoff.¡± [Guard 2]: ¡°Move!¡± The guards moved single-file across the corridor with the capsule remotely pushed in front of them. Steadily, the guards made progress and the group arrived outside the L&D hospital. There, a helicopter was stationed on a landing pad and the guards immediately began moving the capsule into the helicopter. Five minutes after the capsule was firmly secured in the helicopter, it was ready for take off. Inside the capsule, the stress and heat was beginning to take a toll on Lucian¡¯s consciousness. As the scene of him standing on the pavement as he watched his loved one got hit by a truck played constantly in his head, he felt as if his mind was ripping open. The veins in his head thickened¡ Joelie...Pavement¡ All of a sudden, he felt a gentle breeze against his face. But with nothing to support him, and his head throbbing immensely, he fell onto his knees and his hands onto the pavement. It was night and no one was around; he was all alone. Beads of perspiration formed on his forehead slowly travelled down his face and finally landed into a puddle that was by the roadside, making a soft dripping sound. Home¡ A sudden thought of being home flashed past his mind. ¡°What is this?¡± Lucian thought. Not too long ago, his hands were resting onto the rough surface of the pavement, but now, the ground¡ no, the floor¡ felt somewhat familiar. He tried to feel his surroundings and his hand bumped into an object. He felt around it and finally reaffirmed himself that it was a table leg. He tried to stretch his other hand to reach out for another leg and¡ *Bump* He grabbed it. Just what had happened? Wasn¡¯t he in a capsule not too long ago?
