《Lord of Nightmares (dropped)》 Villain - 1 The moon bled it''s last light into the sky as dawn fast approached, they say the night is always darkest before the dawn, but whoever "they" were seemed to stay a mystery, three times had Kinshala tortured scholars looking for the answer to that question, to see if they had any more wisdom for him, and three times had he been left with vague or down right incoherent responses, idiots the lot of them I mean, what kind of a response is please dont hurt the children they didn''t do anything wrong. If you had given me my answer there would be no reason to behead your family like honestly. Kinshala was snapped out of his daydreaming by the sound of footsteps pounding against the cobblestone streets, ah yes his quarry he had almost forgotten. The dark haired man wheeled around and charged off in the direction of his prey. He had been hunting in the village of Smolnash, for nigh on a week now to draw out this hero, and now that he had he wouldn''t be letting them escape him. For you see, Kinshala had one wish, had since he was a boy. All he ever wanted to do was rule the continent, was that to much to ask for? He thought not but for that he needed power something which right now he was sorely lacking on. He turned the corner to see the hero in a delectably pretentious pose by the towns central fountain, her blonde hair blowing in the cold Autumn breeze, and her stylishly chosen scale armour did little to hide her ample curves. Kinshala was no looker himself but he was not ugly either he had a subtle intensity to him that drew the eye, long black hair pulled back in a loose pony tail and very angular and lean facial features but his most sticking features were his eyes. They were wild, like that of a savage dog but one was blue and the other was gold betraying his fiendish heritage, see while his mother was a good god fearing woman his father was a servant of the ninth hell as his gold eye, predatory features and tendency to violence suggested. The hero''s eyes shot to him the moment he walked out of the back street. He swaggered forward arming sword rested across his shoulders and blood dripping from it''s tip. More of the stuff was splattered across his face, before the hero showed up he was trying to bait her by playing hide and seek with the village elderman, but each time Kinshala found him he removed a finger he was about to go onto toes when the hero had shown up. Snatching away his prey and taking him to safety before confronting him here, he could almost laugh at how predictable it was. "Fiend!" She scowled at him from across the plaza it was, he thought to himself the best place in the city for a sword fight, and that was why the hero had chosen it, but it was also why Kinshala had aswell.Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site. "Guilty as charged." He chuckled from behind a svage grin, the woman pointed her sword at him and spoke. "I am here by order of the White Hand Knights to bring you in for punishment but that if you resist than to execute you the the dog you are, so please. Make my day." It never ceased to amaze Kinshala how bloody pretentious their kind could be, "Make my day" sounded like a line from a bad song. He laughed once more but this time it descended in to a mad cackle. "You my friend, are a riot. But no, i do not intend to go quietly or at all for that matter, so if you would kindly drop to your knees and hand over what it is that I want i''ll be on my way, saves me the bothersome trouble of killing you." He said smiling, then she charged, closing the ground between them in a matter of heartbeats before slashing an uppercut with her longsword almost to fast for the eye to see, good thing Kinshala was ready for it. Still he barely managed to get out of the way sidestepping at the last moment, he would have no chance against here in a fair fight. Good thing he never fought fair. "Oh my, was it something I said." He laughed maniacally, she responded with a flurry of strikes he barely managed to avoid he thought he got away without an injury before one sliced across his cheek, he winced it would scar, so much for his glorious good looks. "Die fiend!" She yelled before unleashing yet another flurry of stikes, she landed two this time one cutting his forarm and the other his calf, he was getting tired, gonna have to end it quickly he thought, just get a little closer. "I don''t know why you would be so against my proposition, i thought you would be accostomed to being on your knees spending so much time around priests as you knights do." He laughed again this time with savage fury as she renewed her charge against him, there we go he thought, perfect. She had abandoned all defense commiting all to wild strikes, then he did it. He produced a small clay ball from beneath his leather armour and lit the fuse with the little magic he possessed and then threw it right at the heroes face. It detonated with a blask of white light blinding all looking at it, well eveyone who wasnt half demon anyway, years of fighting angels had brought them up to be resistant to light aswell as dark. He could see her flailing wildly with one hand as she rubbed her eyes with the other and then with a mad grin he fell upon her, ramming his shoulder in to her chest knocking her to the ground, from there he walked to her head and laughed madly into the sky as he stomped her into the cobbles, he felt her nose break first, then he felt her teeth give and finally he felt her skull giveway, he set her on fire for good measure, bloody hero''s they have a knack for coming back at the worst times. He bent down and pilfered her corpse for his prize, a small white orb, used by her order to banish demons back to the hells, but with a little tinkering it could be used to bind one. He threw his head back and stared at the moon, "What a lovely night." He spoke to himself grinning, but i have a feeling tomorrow will be even better. Villain - 2 The wind blew hard upon the stark hill on which the ritual was held, before leaving the town Kinshala had kidnapped several citizens who he would now have the very pleasant occasion of dealing with. He walked over to the roughly bound prisoners he had kneeling before him, his boots shining in the morning sun, slick with the blood of the overzealous paladin. As he walked closer to them knife in hand he could hear their whimpers grow more panicked and frenzied their eyes widening with fear, he crouched and undid their gags. This was where the fun begins. ¡°Greetings friends,¡± he spoke ¡°and welcome to my most diabolical of rituals, today my pretties I shall be summoning a demon of the 14th hell, and you shall have a front row seat being sacrificed and all.¡± He could feel the tension in then rise by another notch, they looked at him desperation in their eyes, perfect just perfect. ¡°Please sir, don¡¯t me and my people will give you any you want, just spare our lives.¡± And their it was, the age old argument, but Kinshala had no intention of listening, he crouched next to the old man, putting his arm around his shoulders and sweeping across the horizon with the other. ¡°But my friend can¡¯t you see. Your lives are about to have for more meaning than they ever could have before for you see now, you will be able to bring about the harbinger of the apocalypse. But for all that I do get some people are just selfish enough to sneer at the greater good so, in the name of mercy. I shall let one of you live.¡± He could feel the relief move off the man before it set in ¡°One of us?¡± ¡°Yes, just one. You see I still need the other ten to summon the demon but one may live, I shall let you decide amongst yourselves.¡± He said smiling, this was where the fun began, now he would get to see them go for each other¡¯s throats yes this was true beauty, the fight for survival. ¡°Sir, I beg you to reconsider.¡± Said the older man desperately. ¡°Shut up Haraff, you old bastard don¡¯t anger him he might rescind his offer.¡± Said a younger woman probably in her early twenties. This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there. ¡°I just might.¡± Kinshala said smiling watching them descend into hushed but panicked whispers as not to anger him, it was¡ Amusing to say the least. After about an hour of heated bickering it seemed they would not make a unanimous decision, that didn''t surprise Kinshala in fact he had been expecting this outcome. When people were backed against a wall the became desperate and when a way out became available they would crawl over the corpses of all in their way. he looked them over all of them wearing different expressions all of them terrified. It truely was the best night he had, had for a long time, then he rose from his sitting position on the grass, it was damp and smelt crisp and cool, well it did before it was stained with Haraff''s blood. Kinshala had without warning driven his sword through the back of the man''s head splattering both the grass and the faces of his townsfolk with blood. Then the screaming started. "What the fuck!" Yelled the younger woman as she tried helplessly to wipe the mans blood of her face with her hands bound, humans were he mused, amusing. "Please no." Whimpered a middle aged man with a ridiculously muscled right arm he was either a blacksmith or spent a ridiculous amount of time alone, Kinshala thought it was the latter considering the mans bug eyes and pig nose. "What in the gods are you?" Sobbed a woman with her grey hair tied back into a tight bun, now disheveled by the night festivities. I my dear, I am Kinshala, though you can call me Kin. I am the Lord of Nightmares, Subjugator of demons and scourge of the earth." He proclaimed arms raised and head pointing to the morning sun screaming a challenge, although he was none of these things yet, he swore to the gods he would be, plus it sounded cool. "And if your, gods want to save your pitiful lives all they must do is strike me down where i stand." He stood expectantly, half expecting to be struck by a bolt of lightning, it would be the luck of the villains. But after no such occasion occurred he spoke again. "No? Well then, looks like the gods dont care whether you live or die, but i do." He said malevolently as he cleaved his sword into the woman''s head splattering blood, brains and bone all over his face and that of those around him. "Please, i''ll do whatever you want, just please." Begged the young woman, until Kin drove his dagger into her left eye producing a satisfying squelching sound. He cleaved, chopped and cut his way through the crowd in a hail of laughter, blood and gore until it was done, he then fell to his knees and laughed at the bodies, he sliced his left hand with his knife and drew a pentagram on the orb he had taken from the paladin. Come now demon, feast upon the souls of these sacrifices and in return, grant me what I so want. He yelled at the orb, soon he would bring blood to the kingdoms of man, soon he would spit in the face of the heavens. Soon he told himself, and then the orb exploded. Villain - 3 Sparks flew through the air, and a force that Kinshala swore could sunder the heavens themselves tore into him, but that wasn''t the worst part, standing in front of him was a man.Well in truth it was partially a man, as from the waist down it had a snake tail wreathed in flame. Kinshala sat up and began to study the being now in front of him. Well fuck he could have sworn he drew the blood sigil correctly, he now wished he had spent more time in study. He paced around the figure taking in the details before it spoke. "You dare summon me mortal! I am Halialottle, Fire Snake of the14th Hell." It roared. "Kinshala, charmed. Now please shush I''m thinking. The demon looked taken aback at that, then he rose to his full height and stood on the very tip of it''s tail a stance that was to improbable to not be being done by magic. The demon rose to its full 8 feet and roared back at him. "Who are you to speak to me that way boy?! I am the destroyer of worlds, the murderer of the innocent, the purger of the worlds of man, elf and dwarf. You, you are nothing to me worse than a dog, nay you are worse than a rat!" "Yes, yes. That is well and good now how did you break my summoning spell?" "That" the demon scoffed, "That was child''s play, a being of my magnitude can do that and far more, honestly that you would even try to bind me in such a pitiful housing is an insult." "Hm interesting, wait let me try something." Kinshala said with new found enthusiasm while drawing his sword and striding up to the demon." "Wait, what are you doing mortal?!" Kinshala took no heed and continued his approach, "Cease this, stop, i will end you if you take another step!" the demon roared breathing fire straight up into the air. Kinshala was now in striking distance and with a mad smile plastered on his face he struck the demon, or he would have if his sword did not impact an invisible barrier surrounding it. The demon slumped back defeated, and Kinshala howled with laughter, screaming into the night sky. This story is posted elsewhere by the author. Help them out by reading the authentic version. "Ha, good trick you didn''t break free, that was illusion magic. Guess that''s what i get from summoning a demon from the hell of trickery and corruption." He laughed triumphantly waggling his finger at the demon. "Yes, you have seen through my rouse, now stop this gloating and finish me." The Halialottle said with resignation. "Kill you? Oh no, i have better plans for you." He said maliciously.
The village of Smolnash was located in the Kingdom of Ketrel, a mediocre power on the world stage. Smolnash was nestled deep withing the Frost-fang mountains and was a relatively peaceful and uneventful place. At least it was until two days ago. Brother Ingvali was part of four people particapating in a paladin strike team sent to investigate this sleepy town and the disappearance of one of their number. Sister Khalvi was always a good paladin and she was always kind to him, it was why he volunteered for this mission, he had to know if she was still alive and if not, he had to avenge her. His heavily armored boots clanked against the narrow cobbled streets he looked around nervously sword drawn. These streets would be a good place for an ambush lots of places to hide. His squad had fanned out and moved to the towns center, a courtyard dominated by a large fountain they all arrived at the same time. "Find anything?" Ingvali asked hopefully. "No" Graveled Borhter Borain through his thick brown beard. "Neither" Said Sister Kimre "Dragstahn" Ingvali called, the fourth member of their party was a tanned man with long dark hair. He currently stood behind the fountain looking furious and clutching a piece of parchment. "Dragstahn what does it say?" He threw it to the ground and stormed off. Kimre chased after him leaving Borain and Ingvali to investigate. When they reached the note it was damaged but still clearly readable and illicited fury in both men it read "I.O.U one paladin." Villain - 4 God it was hot. The sun beat down on the caravan as they made their way to the capital, they walked through the dusty mountain passes throngs of people coming to trade, take in the sights and in some very rare cases conquer the world. Kinshala walked along with the people being careful to blend in he had cut his dark hair short and changed intot he clothes of some of the townsfolk. "This is aweful." Lamented Halialottle, Kinshala had bound him for further use and he currently trapped in the form of a small mangy dog. "I don''t know what you mean rover, we''re on the open road, me and you man and dog." He said gesturing to the horizon. "Don''t call me rover." The demon huffed, "You know my name." Kinshala looked down at the dog annoyed, why had the gods saw fit to curse him with the negative whiny demon, god he wished they weren''t all like this or else he would have to find an infernal enchantment that can mute things. "What are you talking about Rover," he said putting emphasis on the name, "Also stop talking, dogs can''t talk remember?" He added after seeing the looks people were giving him. He picked up the pace couldn''t stay in his current company. "Why are we moving so fast?" Halialottle complained. Kinshala ignored him, when he had made his plan to summon a demon he had imagined a lot more destruction and a lot less whining. Turns out the only good thing it was useful for was allowing the summoner to use more infernal magic safely, which would have been good thus why people did it but as a half demon Kinshala had no trouble in drawing on infernal magic, the only reason he kept it around was that he might find use for it later. And it''s suffering amused him. They had walked about 20 metres ahead of where they once where, He smiled satisfied and took the oppurtunity to study his new traveling companions. Around him were three men and a woman, one was tan and tall with shoulder lengthed brown hair and handsome features, one of the other men although not as tall looked more imposing striking dark eyes and a cleft jaw covered in a light stubble, he seemed to wear a perpetual scowl. The third man was massive taller than the tanned one and far broader around the shoulders, with a barrel chest and a thick brown beard and shaved head. The fourth member was in stark contrast to them, she was smaller more petite with features that conveyed both beauty and innocence. But one thing they all had in common was that they all wore the battle armour of paladins, fuck.Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings. "Hail friend." Bellowed the large bearded man, "I am Brother Borain pleasure to make your aquaintance." He smiled down at Kinshala hand outstretched and he decided that if he ever had to kill this man he would make him choke to death on his beard. "Pleasure is all mine Borain" he said shaking the other mans hand, impoliteness is unbecoming of a person, even if he was a murderer. "And as to what brings me to the capital, my dog here, Rover has a case of the squirts none of the healers at my village can heal it, im hoping the capital can." "Sorry to hear that Mr..." He said letting the last word drag on while slowing edging away from Kin and the dog which in turn growled at Kin, he laughed inside, this demons suffering is the best part of this whole trip he mused. "Ken." He said, closest thing to his own name he could think of and father always used to say keep the lie close to the truth. "And who are you companions?" He said looking at the others with genuine curiosity. "Ah, this one here," He said clapping the black haired man on the back. "Is Brother Ingvar and seems to be allergic to good cheer. The tanned fellow is Brother Dragstahn only one of our party not a native of Ketrel, and the little pretty on is Kimre, our resident cleric." Ah she was a cleric how did he not see it of course she wasn''s a paladin she didn''t look like she could hurt a fly. But if these paladins had come out in this much force it begs the question of why? "If you don''t mind me asking why have you been sent out in such force?" "One of our order has recently gone missing in the village of Smolnash, she was tracking a relatively small time villain there, so we believe she was ambushed by a more pwerful third party. We also found evidence that her binding orb was used to perform a demon summoning." "Demon summoning, doesnt sound like something any "small fry" could do." He said with barely veiled rage they dare call him small fry he would definely kill this man. "Summoning a demon is actually relitively simple, it is containing it that''s the hard part. So we four have taken a vow of vengence that we will not rest until the demon and it''s master are dead." This was going to be a long trip Kinshala mused also, FUCK!
