《Psychotic Break》 Prologue: Gears of Fate A car raced along the streets, narrowly avoiding collisions, all the while speeding faster and faster. The driver lost in his own thoughts, obsessing over a meeting he had earlier. A car in front of him suddenly decelerated. Immediately, the driver changed lanes, shifted gears and continued to increase his speed. Noticing a traffic accident ahead, the driver slammed the brakes, while turning the steering wheel a quarter to the right. The car¡¯s back tires protested the sudden change in direction as the car drifted. Smoke rose and burnt rubber permeated the air. The driver shifted gears again and sped through one abandoned alleyway to another running over boxes and smashing them out of his way. He turned left and made it back to the main road. The driver continued on the main road for a mile before making a right turn onto a closed road. He crashed through road barriers and everything obstructing his path. The driver managed to avoid any incident and arrived at his destination: the pier. He slowed down, gathered his thoughts, changed gears, and sped, intending to drive off the pier. 100 yards! 75! 50! 25! The driver came to his senses slammed the brakes and managed to do a 180-degree turn. He slowly drove his car back to safety. He leaned back in his seat, a tortured expression on his face and thought back to what happened earlier in the day. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Flashback ¡°Thank you for acting as my proxy, Dr. Ma. I am currently bedridden in Canada unable to consult on this case,¡± Dr. Fisher said through the phone. ¡°It is my utmost pleasure, Dr. Fisher.¡± ¡°Remember, my patient killed five girls in cold blood and doesn¡¯t remember a thing. He also has anger problems and can explode at any point in time. The court found him guilty and sentenced him to life in prison without parole. I know you are also a psychiatrist, but I still must remind you that he is in a delicate state of mind, so try not to agitate him.¡± ¡°Understood.¡± _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Flash forward few hours later in the penitentiary ¡°Hello Adrian, my name is Dr. Ma. Let¡¯s be friends. How are you doing?¡± Dr. Ma asked. ¡°Fine. Thanks for asking.¡± ¡°Have you made any friends so far?¡± "No, I am a natural loner.¡± ¡°If you have no friends, what have you been spending your free time doing?¡± ¡°Reading.¡± ¡°Books?¡± ¡°No, I¡¯m not a good reader. I have been reading magazines and newspapers.¡±Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon. ¡°Oh, really? I have a newspaper here. Let¡¯s look at it together¡± He brought a newspaper out from his briefcase and laid it out in front of Adrian, slowly turning the pages. He stopped at a picture of a girl wearing a short skirt. "Isn¡¯t her skirt showing how long her legs are? Aren¡¯t they pretty?¡± "Yes.¡± Dr. Ma took a magazine out and flipped to another image of a girl wearing a short skirt. ¡°Want to look at more pictures?¡± Dr. Ma asked. He noticed that Adrian was slowly beginning to avoid looking at the pictures and said, ¡°Don¡¯t worry, there¡¯s nothing to be ashamed of. We are all men here. Last time you looked at them.¡± ¡°No, I didn¡¯t.¡± ¡°Don¡¯t worry, I know it wasn¡¯t your fault. Remember those twenty-year-old girls who were wearing short skirts and shorts. They wanted their legs to be admired, right? And when you peeked at them, they immediately got you arrested and fired for being a peeping tom. These people deserve to be taught a lesson right?¡± ¡°No, stop talking please.¡± ¡°No? The court found you guilty. Sometimes before bed, do you think about the feelings you had when you taught them a lesson?¡± ¡°No, please stop.¡± ¡°Did you like the feeling of stabbing one in the chest repeatedly? Or did you enjoy pulling a girl¡¯s hair out and slitting her throat? Or did you ¨C¡° ¡°STOP THIS!¡± Adrian flipped the table and had to be forcefully restrained by the guards. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Back to the Present Dr. Ma gazed out at the ocean, his tortured eyes seeing but not seeing the beautiful night sky. "Jessica, you were the one in charge of his case before you died. You repeatedly emphasized in your notes that he is clearly incapable of harming a fly; much less murdering five people in cold blood. No one, but me believes that diagnosis and I still do. My notes after the interview suggest the same. What factors influenced his way of thinking and led him to kill? Help me! I¡¯m trying to prove that you were right.¡± ¡°You know you don¡¯t have to do this, Kevin¡ Why can¡¯t you just move on? I¡¯m dead and always will be,¡± Jessica said. She appeared out of nowhere when she heard her name, a shell of her former self, looking on sadly at Kevin. Ever since she died, a victim of a hit and run, Kevin had become obsessed with her last case, spending hours attempting to find clues to why Adrian snapped. She was part of his imagination, his conscious, and the reason he didn¡¯t kill himself¡ _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Elsewhere, in an office building, an employee was being yelled at. ¡°Jeremy! All the computers in the building have gone down. No one is able to access them. FIX IT!¡± ¡°Mr. Stevens, I have never encountered a virus quite like this. It¡¯s able to adapt itself to anything I try to throw at it.¡± ¡°How long will it take you to get everything up and running?¡± ¡°Maybe two weeks?¡± ¡°You, little piece of shit, I hired you to fix all the computer problems in my office and it seems you can¡¯t. WHY THE FUCK AM I PAYING YOU AGAIN? FIX ALL THESE COMPUTERS BY THE END OF THE DAY OR YOU¡¯RE FIRED!¡± ¡°¡¡± Two hours passed, Mr. Stevens came back to his office after his lunch break and saw all the computers were up and running again. He tried to run a couple of programs and discovered he was not able to use them. ¡°JEREMY, WHAT DID YOU DO?¡± ¡°I did what you told me to do, I fixed the computers by downgrading the OS.¡± ¡°GET OUT AND NEVER COME BACK!¡± ¡°Mr. Stevens, I¡¯ll fix everything. Don¡¯t fire me.¡± ¡°I¡¯m going out for a meeting, now. I don¡¯t want to see you or any of your things when I get back.¡± In desperation, Jeremy followed Mr. Stevens out, begging for his job back. He followed Mr. Stevens down the stairs and accidently tripped him and knocked him out. Jeremy¡¯s coworkers heard the noise and rushed out to the staircase where they saw him standing over a fallen and bleeding Mr. Stevens. The cops were called and escorted Jeremy to the police station, where his worried sister berated him for being an idiot. As he waited to see if his employer was going to press charges against him, a psychologist was summoned to talk to Jeremy. ¡°Jeremy, considering your recent job history¡ª6 jobs in the past year¡ªit seems you have an inability to understand social and emotional reactions. Our psychologist concluded that you have Asperger¡¯s Syndrome. Your ex-boss has agreed to drop the charges as long as you don¡¯t come anywhere near him and see a court sanctioned psychologist for the next few months. We recommend a Dr. Ma since his office is near your apartment,¡± the police sergeant said. ¡°¡¡± Chapter 1: Paths cross, Pieces coming into play (I) The next day, Jeremy took his time getting to Dr. Ma¡¯s office and arrived five minutes late. ¡°Hello, Jeremy. How are you doing?¡± Dr. Ma asked. "Fine. I came to let you know, that I¡¯m a perfectly functional human being. As a child, I have been diagnosed with Asperger¡¯s syndrome and I don¡¯t think it affects my ability to function at all. I won¡¯t be coming anymore, but if anybody asks you about whether or not I was here, please tell them I was.¡± ¡°I will do this on one condition. It¡¯s 4 pm right now. I want you to help me deliver an order of chairs to a store on the opposite end of town by 6pm.¡± ¡°Ok.¡± Jeremy followed Dr. Ma out of the office down to the garage, where Dr. Ma presented him with a cart filled with chairs. ¡°Remember get them to the store by 6pm.¡± Jeremy grunted and pushed the cart out of the parking garage. He looked left and cursed when he saw the steep incline. Jeremy pushed the cart slowly up the hill, his triceps and thighs burning with every step. He painfully endeavored upwards looking extremely foolish. People pointed and laughed at him as they drove by; passerbys asked him if he was selling the chairs all the while mocking him. Unbeknownst to Jeremy at the time, Dr. Ma and his sister were having a conversation about him. ¡°Why are you having him do this, Dr. Ma?¡± his sister asked. ¡°Icy, your brother has an inability to comprehend human emotions and express them on his own. I am having him deliver the chairs to the other end of town in hopes of him getting angry and from there use it as teaching point.¡± By then, Jeremy had pushed the cart to the top of the hill, where he cursed even louder at the steep decline before his eyes. He naturally understood Newton¡¯s first law of motion¡ªforce equals mass times acceleration¡ªand knew it was going to be a tall order getting the chairs to the bottom without breaking any. He wanted to get everything done in one go, so removing the chairs and taking multiple tasks was a no go. After racking his brain for potential solutions and finding none, Jeremy sighed and rolled the cart down the hill, digging in his heels to slow down the cart¡¯s momentum. Watching this, Dr. Ma remarked to Icy, ¡°Your brother is smart.¡± ¡°He is. Ever since my brother was a child, science and technology thrilled him. Brother spent hours trying to figure out anything he couldn¡¯t understand.¡± ¡°If he is so smart, why didn¡¯t he finish college?¡± ¡°Brother couldn¡¯t deal with his peers much less his professors. If a professor gave him a score Brother deemed unacceptable, he would march over to the professor¡¯s office¡ªand once one of their homes¡ªand demand that they explain why he got points docked off on his exam. After some time, I couldn¡¯t take it anymore. I couldn¡¯t keep bailing my brother out of jail, so I told him to withdraw from college and I¡¯ll find him a job.¡±Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings. ¡°Oh. Don¡¯t worry, if everything works out the way I want it to, your brother will be able to deal with people better.¡± By the time Jeremy reached the bottom of the hill, it was 5 pm. Alarmed, Jeremy broke into a sprint and made a beeline for his destination, not caring about whether anybody was in his way. He turned right at the next intersection and a crowded street market greeted him. Jeremy lowered his head and bull rushed the crowd while pushing the cart. Jeremy heard countless curses by the surrounding people; he ignored all of this, focusing only on his end goal: getting to the store before 6 pm. He checked his watch and saw he only had 15 minutes to make it to his destination. Cursing, Jeremy gathered up his remaining energy and sprinted the last three blocks. He made it to the store with one minute to spare. He entered the store and said, ¡°Sir, the chairs you ordered are here.¡± The store manager raised his head from his desk, blinking rapidly, ¡°Chairs? I don¡¯t remember ordering any chairs. Let me double check. ¡ Yeah, I didn¡¯t order any chairs.¡± ¡°That damned psychologist played me! I¡¯m going to give him a piece of my mind!¡± Jeremy thought as he left the store. Jeremy brought the chairs back to Dr. Ma¡¯s office building and made a beeline for Dr. Ma¡¯s office, where he discovered Dr. Ma had left for the day. Furious, he grabbed his computer from his backpack and begun an extensive search for Dr. Ma¡¯s home address. The moment he found it, he rushed out of the office building and jumped on his motorcycle. He stopped what he was doing when he observed Dr. Ma sitting in a car¡ªwatching his every move¡ªbefore driving off. Blood boiling, Jeremy revved up his motorbike and pursued Dr. Ma. He pushed his motorcycle to its limit in an effort to keep up. Suddenly, Dr. Ma slowed down allowing Jeremy to catch a glimpse of his sister sitting in the passenger seat of Dr. Ma¡¯s car. Once he knew Jeremy had seen his sister in his car, Dr. Ma pressed his foot on the gas pedal and shot off, leaving Jeremy in the dust wondering what his sister was doing. ¡°That fucking bastard better not touch my sister. If he does, I¡¯m going to make sure he will regret it for the rest of his life,¡± Jeremy thought to himself. Jeremy gathered himself and chased after Dr. Ma. To the casual observer, the car chase was a game of cat and mouse: Dr. Ma would drive slow enough that Jeremy could catch up and when he did, Dr. Ma would speed up not allowing Jeremy to get ahead of him. It continued like this before Dr. Ma decided to end the game and floored the gas pedal. Dr. Ma made it to the pier where he did doughnuts with his car as he waited for Jeremy to finally catch up. The moment Jeremy arrived, Dr. Ma stopped and got out the car. ¡°You fucking bastard. Where were you going to take my sister to?¡± Jeremy asked while making a fist. ¡°I¡¯m sorry,¡± Dr. Ma replied. When Jeremy heard the words, he stopped in his tracks and lowered his fist. ¡°What you are feeling is anger, Jeremy. That¡¯s the emotion your previous employers felt when you screwed up and didn¡¯t listen to their instructions. Did you sense that when I said that I was sorry, you lowered your fist and a bit of your anger subsided?¡± ¡°Yes. Why did I do that?¡± ¡°People will always make mistakes and when they do, they apologize. It¡¯s only normal to forgive someone who has apologized for their mistakes.¡± ¡°Oh, I get it now! I¡¯m sorry for my earlier transgressions at the meeting earlier. I want you to be my psychologist, so I can learn amazing things from you such as: how did you make those doughnuts with your car? I have did the math and my work says it¡¯s impossible.¡± ¡°Haha, I will tell you at our next meeting. But once again, my name is Dr. Kevin Ma. It will be a pleasure to be your psychologist for the next few months¡¡± Ch 1.2: Paths Cross, Pieces Coming Into Play (II) ¡°Dr. Ma! Dr. Ma! Let¡¯s skip the meeting and focus on you telling me how you managed to pull off that stunt last night. I was up all night trying to work out the physics, only to find that the math did not work out. I can¡¯t figure out how you were able to do doughnuts with your car,¡± Jeremy asked the moment he stepped into Dr. Ma¡¯s office. ¡°Sorry Jeremy, I have other appointments today. I can¡¯t just cancel them just to teach you how to do doughnuts with your car,¡± Dr. Ma casually replied. ¡°Now let¡¯s pick up where we left off from the last meeting. When I have time, I will teach you.¡± An hour later, the meeting concluded. ¡°Remember your promise! Teach me how to do doughnuts next time.¡± ¡°Haha, we will see,¡± Dr. Ma said before turning his attention to his receptionist.¡°Allison, can you schedule an appointment for Jeremy for next time?¡± "Mhm. Oh and Dr. Ma, Mrs. Lee is here to see you.¡± ¡°Dr. Ma,¡± Mrs. Lee said as she stood up. ¡°Mrs. Lee?¡± Dr. Ma asked. "Sorry for dropping in unannounced, but I need to talk to you about something.¡± ¡°Seriously, Dr. Ma you need to tell me how you did it. Given your car¡¯s horsepo---¡° Jeremy butted in. ¡°Let¡¯s talk again next time, Jeremy. Mrs. Lee, let¡¯s have this conversation in my office.¡± ¡°Sorry for disappearing a few months ago, Dr. Ma. I got remarried and didn¡¯t want my new husband to be worried about my mental health.¡± ¡°It¡¯s okay. Congratulations on your new marriage! What did you want to talk about?¡± ¡°Dr. Ma, as you know I had two kids from my previous marriage. Now that my life is stable, I need your help in regaining custody.¡± ¡°I remember. Sorry, I couldn¡¯t help you gain custody of your kids then.¡± ¡°It wasn¡¯t your fault. My ex-husband was not willing to see you.¡± ¡°From your current visit, I take it your ex-husband still gets angry at any little thing?¡± "Yes, which is why I¡¯m here again for your help.¡± Mrs. Lee brought Dr. Ma to her ex-husband¡¯s store; where they observed Mr. Hong berating their younger son for being too lazy and not helping out with the store. ¡°Stop it! Can¡¯t you see our son is doing his best?¡± Mrs. Lee shouted at her ex-husband. ¡°Mr. Hong, you are scaring your son. If you want to teach him a lesson, use a softer, more patient tone.¡± ¡°Who are you?¡± Mr. Hong asked. ¡°He¡¯s Dr. Ma, whom you should know from before,¡± Mrs. Lee replied. ¡°Oh, that crackpot doctor? I don¡¯t believe anything he says. People get angry all the time and he doesn¡¯t say they have issues,¡± Mr. Hong shouted while brandishing a butcher¡¯s knife. ¡°Calm down, Mr. Hong. I¡¯m not saying you have any problems at all, but the fact that you have problems controlling your anger might lead to an inability to get along with others, much less your sons.¡± "Total bullshit! Everyone around me likes me. You¡¯re making up shit to help that bitch wrestle back custody of the kids from me!¡± ¡°You see, Dr. Ma! Please write a letter telling about what you have seen today and send it to the court!¡± Mrs. Lee cried. ¡°Relax, both of you. Relocation of a child can carry risks. Let me meet with your son over the next few days and get a grasp of his situation.¡± _________________________________________________________________________________________________ In the meantime, a bottle collector called the police when she discovered the deceased body of a prostitute in the dumpsters. Detective Grey and his team were first on the crime scene.A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation. "Police at work. Please make way!¡± his team shouted as they walked towards the crime scene. ¡°Erica, get the bottle collector¡¯s statement. Jonathan, Lina, and Daniel check the surroundings for clues. Justine, you¡¯re with me. We are going to find out who the deceased person is,¡± Detective Grey ordered. ¡°Sir, the deceased name is Holly. Judging by the bruising, she was strangled first, then clubbed to death,¡± Justine reported. ¡°Hm¡ It doesn¡¯t seem to be a robbery or a rape considering the deceased still has her jewelry and her clothes are in place. Her heels looked like she was dragged from some other place and then placed here. Maybe the murderer killed her and then disposed of her body here,¡± Detective Grey wondered aloud. "Contact her cell phone carrier to find out where she went in her final hours.¡± _________________________________________________________________________________________________ Dr. Ma left Mr. Hong¡¯s store and headed directly back to the penitentiary where he was turned away because Adrian¡¯s condition had taken a turn for the worse. Adrian had become delusional and unresponsive and refused to meet with anyone. Upon being told this, Dr. Ma went home and lounged in his office smoking a cigarette. "Jessica, I had a meeting scheduled with Adrian today, but it didn¡¯t happen because his condition was still unstable and has been since our meeting. I wonder when¡¯s the next time I will be able to meet with him.¡± ¡°Are you feeling guilty over what you did?¡± ¡°No, everything I did had a purpose. I made him angry to test whether or not he harbored murderous feelings in his heart. My assessment has proved he does not. I knew his mental condition would worsen, but I didn¡¯t expect him to become this unhinged.¡± ¡°You still don¡¯t think that you came across as too impatient, too eager for an answer?¡± ¡°You know me. When I¡¯m determined to do something, I will do it, regardless of the consequences. Maybe my methods were a bit too ruthless, but I wanted to try.¡± ¡°Then do you think the personality you have is good or bad?¡± ¡°Good or bad, nobody knows. I feel that I don¡¯t need to change.¡± "I guess you don¡¯t really need my analysis at all.¡± ¡°I know what I want and until I get the truth, I will not give up. Therefore, I must find a way to meet with Adrian once more.¡± _________________________________________________________________________________________________ The next day, Dr. Ma drove to his office. He parked his car and attempted to get out, when his passenger side door opened and Jeremy sat inside. ¡°You¡¯re appointment time isn¡¯t for a while, Jeremy.¡± ¡°I already sent the data from your stunt to my online friends and none of them are able to figure out how you managed to do it.¡± "I already said that I would teach you next time.¡± ¡°I have a hunch that if you demonstrate doing a doughnut one more time, I will be able to understand your trick. Let¡¯s drive.¡± "Now?¡± ¡°Yes.¡± ¡°Sorry Jeremy, I have an appointment right now. You¡¯re welcome to come up and stay in my office until your appointment time.¡± Dr. Ma and Jeremy got out of the car and went up to Dr. Ma¡¯s office, where Mrs. Lee was sitting in the waiting room talking on the phone with her ex-husband while watching her son play with rocks. ¡°I know, George. I didn¡¯t take Eric away. He came to me yesterday! Do you know his sudden presence turned my household upside down? He even cursed at my husband. I only brought him to see Dr. Ma to find out whether or not our son has ADHD. I will bring him back right after¡ Why are you calling me crazy? Me taking him to see a psychologist means I¡¯m crazy?¡± She hung up the phone when Dr. Ma walked through the door. Meanwhile, Jeremy observed Eric and headed to the table. ¡°Give me a second to put my things in my office, Mrs. Lee.¡± ¡°Okay.¡± After setting down his things, Dr. Ma walked out of his office and observed Jeremy and Eric placing black and white stones on the table. Mrs. Lee stood up and walked over to Dr. Ma and said, ¡°Thanks again, Dr. Ma for seeing me on short notice. Eric stop playing and come here.¡± ¡°No problem. Mrs. Lee, let him play.¡± They stood there watching Eric and Jeremy place stones on the table for some time. ¡°Mrs. Lee, I don¡¯t think your son has ADHD; rather, he might be a genius. Can we consult with your ex-husband?¡± ¡°Fine.¡± Dr. Ma drove Mrs. Lee, Eric, and Jeremy over to Mr. Hong¡¯s house where he presented Mr. Hong with the news that his son has a high IQ. ¡°Are you sure, Dr. Ma?¡± he asked. ¡°Yes, when they were at my office earlier, I observed him using the stones in my office as Go pieces.¡± ¡°So playing Go means that he has a high IQ?¡± ¡°The person playing with Eric is named Jeremy. He has an IQ of 175.¡± The room fell silent as both Mrs. Lee and Mr. Hong digested the information. Suddenly, Eric shouted out, ¡°Yes! I win. I beat you in chess.¡± To which Jeremy replied, ¡°We are playing best of 7 games. Right now the score is 3 to 3. You have not won yet. Perhaps, I will win the next game.¡± ¡°Bring it!¡± ¡°So Dr. Ma, because my son just beat a person with IQ of 175, does this mean his IQ is over 180?¡± ¡°I don¡¯t know. I will have to test him, but to do that I must get your permission.¡± ¡°Yes, let¡¯s do it. Eric has my best genes so it should be no problem,¡± Mr. Hong said smiling. ¡°If he is anything like you, it would be a disaster,¡± Mrs. Lee cursed. Mr. Hong opened his mouth to refute, when suddenly the doorbell rang. He got up and opened the door. ¡°Hello?¡± ¡°Police.¡± ¡°What are you here for, sir?¡± ¡°We are looking for Harry Hong who is under suspicion for murder. My name is Detective Grey.¡± ¡°Sir, did you guys mess up? I don¡¯t believe my son could do such thing,¡± Mr. Hong said. ¡°We only want to bring your son in for questioning. Are you two his parents?¡± ¡°Yes.¡± ¡°Is he in?¡± ¡°No.¡± ¡°Do you know where he is?¡± ¡°No. He¡¯s an adult. I don¡¯t know where he goes.¡± ¡°Well then, since you two are his parents can you come down to the station and give your statements?¡± ¡°I have to take care of my son,¡± Mr. Hong said. ¡°Don¡¯t worry, Mr. Hong. I will bring your son over to my office and have my receptionist watch over him, while you two are giving your statements to the police.¡± ¡°Very well then¡¡± Ch 1.3: Paths Cross, Pieces Coming into Play (III) ¡°Has your oldest son contacted either of you?¡± Detective Grey asked. ¡°No.¡± ¡°He didn¡¯t? Why didn¡¯t you report him missing then?¡± ¡°He doesn¡¯t have the balls to. The moment the court hears he lost our son, they most likely will shift custody of the children to me,¡± Mrs. Lee said. ¡°Mr. Hong, does your son have any friends or girlfriends that you know of?¡± ¡°No. Every time I see him, he¡¯s usually in his room gaming. How the hell would he know any girls?¡± Detective Grey nodded at Justine who turned her laptop around. ¡°Mr. Hong, Mrs. Lee is this your son?¡± Detective Grey asked while showing security footage of a man harassing a woman. "Who the hell is this guy? Why the heck is he beating up Harry?¡± Mrs. Lee asked her ex-husband. ¡°How the fuck should I know?¡± Mr. Hong replied. Detective Grey brought out a newspaper and showed the headlines to them both. "That girl¡ isn¡¯t she the one who was with Harry? She¡¯s dead?¡± Mrs. Lee asked shocked. ¡°Yes. Her name was Yumi.¡± ¡°Our son didn¡¯t kill the girl. He¡¯s a good kid,¡± Mr. Hong said. ¡°Relax, we aren¡¯t accusing your son of anything. We just want to bring him in for questioning.¡± Detective Grey said. ¡°My son would never do anything like this.¡± ¡°Again, we just want to bring your son in for questioning. If we find out he didn¡¯t do it, there¡¯s a chance that the person who did is after him as well. Let us know if he contacts either of you.¡± ¡°Ok.¡± Mr. Hong and Mrs. Lee got in a taxi and rode home in silence. ¡°Thank you, Dr. Ma, for taking care of our son.¡±This novel is published on a different platform. Support the original author by finding the official source. ¡°No problem.¡± ¡°Did anyone call while I was gone?¡± ¡°No.¡± ¡°Damn. That oldest son of mine got himself into a lot of trouble.¡± "¡ Jeremy, let¡¯s go home. You can come by and visit whenever you want¡ªprovided you are invited.¡± "Ok.¡± Dr. Ma drove Jeremy and Mrs. Lee back to their own respective homes. When Jeremy got home, he remembered he had forgotten his rubrics cube at Mr. Hong¡¯s apartment and went back. He returned and found Eric absorbed in trying to solve the problem and not willing to give it back. In an effort to get his cube back, Jeremy brought up a physics problem¡ªhow Dr. Ma was able to do donuts with his car¡ªand told Eric that if he is able to solve it, he will be the winner. The next day, Dr. Ma got a call from Mr. Hong asking him to help him track down his son. They went to the club where they obtained security footage of that night. After watching the entire video, Dr. Ma said, ¡°The guy who punched your son isn¡¯t the girl¡¯s killer.¡± ¡°What why? Look at him. He punched my son.¡± ¡°He can¡¯t be the killer because she clearly didn¡¯t want to be with your son. You see, when the guy brought the girl away, she didn¡¯t object or protest. She didn¡¯t even look back to see if your son is okay, which means she willingly left with the guy. Based off this analysis, it seems the one with the problem is Harry.¡± _________________________________________________________________________________________________ Meanwhile, Detective Grey and his team apprehended Harry¡¯s assaulter and discovered the same information¡ªhe only came to protect Yumi from her stalker. Furthermore, the coroner¡¯s report had come out affirming Detective Grey¡¯s suspicions. Yumi had been beaten then strangled to death at around 4 a.m. They analyzed Yumi¡¯s phone records and discovered Harry had called her at least once everyday. Her internet records showed the same thing¡ªshe was chatting with Harry nonstop. Detective Grey and his team came to the conclusion that Harry must¡¯ve been pissed that she left with another guy and stalked the two of them until Yumi was finally alone; the moment that happened, he killed her. They filed for a search warrant to seize and search through all of Harry¡¯s belongings. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ When Dr. Ma came to the conclusion that Harry was the one with issues, he called Jeremy asking him to go to Mr. Hong¡¯s apartment and back up all the data on Harry¡¯s laptop before the police arrived and not tell them anything. When Jeremy finished backing up Harry¡¯s laptop, he heard a noise. ¡°POLICE! OPEN THE DOOR!¡± Jeremy opened the door and was confronted by Detective Grey and his team. They showed him the warrant and began moving things out of Mr. Hong¡¯s apartment. ¡°Why are you taking stuff out of my apartment?¡± Mr. Hong asked when he got home. ¡°We have a search warrant and we are taking all of your son¡¯s things for analysis. He is now our primary murder suspect.¡± ¡°You¡¯re wrong. My son would never kill anyone!¡± Mr. Hong cried. ¡°If you care for your son, you will call the police the moment he contacts you,¡± Detective Grey said and he left. ¡°Jeremy, I hope you managed to back up Harry¡¯s computer before they took everything away.¡± ¡°Yep.¡± ¡°I¡¯m counting on you to help find any clues to where Harry is.¡± ¡°Okay.¡±
