Doctor Brown: Well we don¡¯t know if she¡¯s a relative or not, but she says she¡¯s a friend. Nurse, can you tell her he¡¯s awoken? Is she a relative? A friend? Maybe I should ask. Benn: Umm... sorry but do I know you? Girl: It¡¯s me, Amy. *Benn blankly stares at her* Amy: You really don¡¯t remember me? Benn: Sorry, but I seem to be suffering from amnesia. No memories whatsoever of who I am. Did I know you before my accident? Amy: Yeah, I¡¯m your girlfriend remember? Benn (in inquiry): I¡¯m sorry but¡ girlfriend? Amy: Yeah. We had been going out about a month before your accident. Benn: I¡¯m sorry but¡ I can¡¯t seem to remember anything¡ Amy: It¡¯s (tears coming into her eyes)¡ okay. Benn: Wait I have a question. Amy: Sure, anything. Benn: Were you¡ were you there the day of the accident? Amy (In hesitation): No, but I was actually the first to find you in the alleyway¡ umm can you excuse me for a second? I need to take some fresh air. Benn: Wai- *Amy leaves the room and closes the door, Benn is left alone in the white walled room* Benn: Damn, just had to ask didn¡¯t I? I should probably say sorry when she comes back. Maybe afterwards she could tell me about myself. *Amy walks back inside the room, eyes red from crying* Benn: Hey. Amy: Hey. Benn: You¡ uhh¡ okay? Amy: Yeah I¡¯m fine. Benn: Sorry for asking¡ Amy: No it¡¯s okay. *Awkward moment of silence* Benn: Do you think you could tell me about myself and us? Maybe if you did I could be able to remember what type of person I was. Amy: Sure¡ Let¡¯s see¡ Your name is Benn. Obviously. Spelled with two ns by the way. Benn: Alright. The college you go to is a couple of blocks away from it. We started going out a month before you know. We met each other at a party. Benn: Wait, wh-what about my family? Where are they in all of this? I mean, they seriously don¡¯t care about me that much to not worry if I¡¯m in the hospi- Amy: Both of your parents and your younger sister died in a car accident two years ago. Other than me, there isn¡¯t anyone who would be called to come to the hospital. Benn: wait wait wait wait. So you''re saying that the only person in my family left is me? Amy: Yes, I¡¯m sorry for telling you this right after knowing you have am- Benn: Get out. Amy: What? Benn: Get out. Amy: What do you me- Benn: I mean get the fuck out! Amy: But bab- Benn: I DON¡¯T CARE! GET OUT! NOW! I DON¡¯T WANT TO TALK TO YOU RIGHT NOW! PLEASE JUST GET OUT! I just want some time alone to think ok? So please just leave. *Moment of silence* Amy: Ok I¡¯ll leave. Benn: Thank you. *Amy leaves* Benn: Oh god, first the news about amnesia, now this? Fuck. Benn inner-monologue: After some time, after the anger passed, I was a little confused as to how I was supposed to feel. I couldn¡¯t feel sad about their deaths because, when it happened I probably cried my eyes out, so what would be the point in crying this time? And how was I supposed to react to people who were technically strangers? But I knew I couldn¡¯t just leave it at just not doing anything. After a couple of minutes of debating over it, a thought came to my head. I should try to remember them and then go from there. I mean, they were my family. After about an hour or so of trying to remember, I noticed something on my wrist that I didn¡¯t really take notice before. *looks down at his wrist, sees bracelet* Benn: hmm what¡¯s this? *takes off the bracelet* Benn: Hmm looks pretty nice. Maybe it¡¯s something from my fam- Benn inner-monologue: At that point in mid-sentence things started to come in full force about my family.(pictures of his family) I remembered Scarlet, my little sister. I remembered how at odds we always were, always fighting over the smallest thing, (scene of two kids fighting over a plate, and then the plate being destroyed) and in my defense she would not let go of that plate. I remembered my parents, John and Susie; I remembered how much I loved them, and how much I enjoyed being their son. And before I knew it, I was crying. *End Chapter* Glimpses of the Past, Part 1 Setting: Hospital Benn (in thought): A month had passed since I remembered my parents. When Amy found out she was simply ecstatic about it. When I had told Dr. Brown, he was surprised, said that most amnesiac patients took months to remember even a sliver of their past. During the next couple of weeks both Amy and Doctor Brown would try to help me remember, sadly nothing helped. The person who tried the hardest was Amy. At least it wasn¡¯t all bad because when she wasn¡¯t trying to help me remember, she would always ask about my family which was helpful.Thankfully, Doctor Brown said that I would be able to leave today. *Outside the hospital building* *Benn and Amy in front of the doors with Doctor Brown* Doctor Brown: Well a month has passed since you have been admitted and your wounds have healed rather well. Now remember, you don¡¯t want to stress yourself too much trying to remember things, and if you need help with anything, please don¡¯t hesitate to call the hospital. Benn: Yes, of course Doctor. And thank you for helping me with my recovery. Amy: Come on, Benn. Hurry up. *While pulling on his arm* Benn: Right, yeah. Sorry Doc, Amy is planning on showing me around to get a grasp of where I used to live. Doctor Brown: Right, well I¡¯ll leave you two to it. Pleasure having you. Benn: Yeah. Again, thank you Doctor.*While being pulled away* I¡¯ll make sure to call you if anything comes up! *towards Amy* Ok ok , slow down, don¡¯t you remember? I was just in the hospital *rushes to catch up to Amy* Amy: No, you just got OUT of the hospital. And I promised to show you around, remember? Benn: Yeah, but I don¡¯t see the rush in getting out of the hospital so quickly. I still had to finish talking to the Doctor. Amy: What, so he could continue psychoanalyzing you? I don¡¯t think so. Benn: What are you talking about? He simply wanted to see if I was ok, he wasn¡¯t trying to psychoanalyze me. Whatever that means. Anyways weren¡¯t you going to show me around? Amy: Yes and that is exactly what I am going to do as soon as I figure out where we are first. Benn: Great, not even my kidnapper knows where we¡¯re going *Amy slaps him on the shoulder, Benn feigns getting hurt* Ow! Well, it¡¯s true. The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.Amy: I know where we are, just have to turn right¡Here! Benn: Oh really? As if what you¡¯re looking for is right around the¡.*scene of large shopping center*¡ corner. Umm¡ wow. That is a very big shopping center. Amy: Ha, now who can¡¯t find her way around town? Come on! *pulls on Benn¡¯s arm once again* Benn: Right, just remember I don¡¯t have a wallet. Amy: As if that¡¯s going to stop me from asking you to buy me stuff. Benn (in thought) * while a montage of them going to different places in the center* I have to find a way to thank Amy for being there for me since I''ve woken up, as well as for helping me with the empty spaces in my memory. (in a coffee shop) Amy: One mocha, and one normal black coffee.(goes to table where Benn is)I never understood why you liked plain black coffee. Benn: I probably grew used to it. I honestly don''t remember *Amy looks down, sad* hey *reaches over and touches her hand* it''s ok. My memory will come back soon, probably. Amy:I know, but i can''t help feeling bad since i wasn''t there when it hap-wait what do you mean by probably? Been: Well you know, not a lot of people with amnesia get all of their whole memory back. some patients usually only get half or just a portion of their memory back. Amy: Well, you better hope to God that you get all your memories back, or I will hurt you for not remembering me. Benn: Ok ok, I will try my best to get all my memories back, but no promises. Amy: Alright, as long as we understand each other. *an hour later, Benn and Amy are in Benn¡¯s apartment building making their way to his apartment* Benn: So, what¡¯s my apartment number again? Amy: 135, good thing I have a spare key Benn: Yeah, rather convenient really Amy: You had actually given it to me a day before your accident *outside of door with number 135* Amy: *gives Benn key* Here, I think you should have the honors of opening your apartment Benn: *looks at the key and Amy multiple times* Amy: Well, hurry up. I¡¯m practically freezing out here Benn: Right *puts key into door and opens the door*.....ow *falls out of consciousness onto floor of apartment* *Chapter 3 End* Glimpses of the Past, Part 2 Benn (in thought): This was gonna be the second time in a long line of me remembering things while unconscious. This was also going to be one of the most important. It started the exact same way as when I opened the apartment door, except something seemed different. Something felt off, as though something was missing. When I finally opened the apartment door, instead of me falling unconscious, I was greeted to something much more happier, and something incomplete. It was a scene of four people standing in front of the door with party poppers, 2 males(one white the other dark skinned) and 2 females(one asian, the other mexican). With their faces blacked out. Four people: Welcome Home!!*while popping the poppers* Benn: Wha- How¡¯d you guys get in? 1 of the males: We just asked your landlord for the spare. Luckily, he gave it up when we told him we wanted to surprise you Benn: And why exactly did you want to surprise me? the other male: Well obviously because we wanted to congratulate you on getting your new place. one of the females: Well that and because it¡¯s your birthday. Benn: Umm¡ Well wow. Thought you guys would forget. Like you did last year. other female: No, WE remembered. It was ERIK who forgot to tell you to go where we had told him to take you Erik(first male, face still covered): Umm no¡(memory fades, goes to another memory in the same apartment, this time only with Erik inside it , sitting on a chair in a table, studying) Erik: I¡¯m telling you man. I am going to fucking fail this test. And the next one. And the one after that. Benn: Well, maybe you wouldn¡¯t fail if you started to ACTUALLY pay attention in class, instead of staring at the girl that sits in front of you Erik: What are you talking about? Meli- I mean... who are you talking about? Ok, point taken. Just shut up and help me study already. Benn: Alright alright. (memory fades, goes to another memory in the same apartment, this time with Benn inside it, studying.) *Knock on door* Benn: Coming *opens door, one of the girls is seen with face covered, holding bag of food up* Benn: Oh my god, thank you. You are a lifesaver. Girl: So I¡¯ve heard Benn: No, seriously I haven¡¯t eaten anything in almost two days. Anyways come on in, make yourself comfortable. Girl: Thank you Benn: What did you bring? Girl: What you usually get. chow mein, rice, orange chicken and egg rolls. Benn: Thank you. Good thing your family works at a chinese restaurant. Which is weird seeing as how your family Mexican. Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.*Benn starts to eat chow mein* Girl: I hope you understand that this isn¡¯t for free Benn(with chow mein falling from his mouth) wait, what?...(memory fades, goes to another memory in the same apartment for third time, with Benn with other male, playing video games) Benn: Hah! how¡¯s that for an ass kicking? 7- nothing, Bitch! Male: Aww come on, one more match dude. I swear, last one. Benn: No, doesn¡¯t even matter you¡¯re gonna lose anyways. Male: Then you wouldn¡¯t mind if we play one more match. Benn: Alright but by the end of it you¡¯re gonna need a body bag to leave this apartment. Male: Alright, I¡¯ll make you eat your words¡. (memory fades, goes to another memory in the same apartment for the last time, with Benn and the other female, Benn crying and girl comforting him) Girl: It¡¯s ok...it¡¯s ok. It wasn¡¯t your fault. Come on, these things happen. Benn: I know but why did it have to happen to me? why did they have to die? Girl: It¡¯s ok, it¡¯s ok. It was their time, you had nothing to do with them dying. Benn: Yes, it is my fault those plants died. I kept forgetting to water to them, I kept them in the dark. It was all my fault¡(memory fades, goes into a montage of other memories) Benn(in thought): Friends, I knew I wasn¡¯t alone, after my parents died. I mean of course Amy was there after the accident, but I didn¡¯t think there were others who knew me. Hmmm... something seems off. As though something, or someone were missing. I can¡¯t tell what or who is missing. Hmm¡ it¡¯s probably nothing.(montage ends) hopefully it¡¯s nothing¡. hmmm¡ this should be around the time where I wake up¡ any day now¡ wait, has it been a day? Actually, how long has it been since I fell unconscious? Wait, what if I never wake up? What if I¡¯m just in the hospital again in a coma?... That would be horrible¡ ???:Emily Benn: Hmm, what? ???: Emily Benn: Who? ???: Emily, you dick I¡¯m not gonna say it again you little shi- Benn: hah i¡¯m messing with you I heard you the first time. Who is that? ???: Ugh¡ She¡¯s someone very important to you Benn: Why? ???: You must find her to know why Benn: Why? ???: Because that¡¯s how it works Benn: Why? ???:... I honestly don¡¯t know Benn: Why? ???: Ok now you¡¯re getting annoying, kid Benn: Why? ???: Just shut up and wake up already¡I feel better when I¡¯m alone... Benn: Wh¡¡.y¡.? *Wakes up* Benn: Emily *Chapter ends*
