Matthew sat there silently. He wanted to see what these people were up to.
They came into the clinic and looked around, like rich people walking into a poor person''s house for the first time. Their faces had expressions of disdain and mockery on them. The leader was called Baxter Paulson. He was the associate dean of Medicare Hospital. He went up to Ss and sat down. He asked threateningly, "Do you own this clinic?" Ss pointed at Matthew. "He does."
Baxter did not talk to Matthew. He said to Ss, "Are you the practicing doctor here?"
Ss nodded. In response, Baxter said coldly, "You will have no future here. Would you like me to offer you another job instead?"
Ss shook his head. "I''m perfectly fine here."
Baxter looked at him in disdain. "You definitely wouldn''t be able to make five figures a month here. If youe to my hospital, I guarantee that you''ll be earning five figures a month, and six figures for the whole year."
Ss shook his head. "I would have to prescribe your medicine and use your ticketing system. Patients who didn''t need to be hospitalized will have to stay the night anyway, and those who didn''t need surgery will have to get it done anyway."
Baxter was upset. "There are procedures in every ce you work at. Rules make up the ying field. If you work in the hospital, you''ll have to y by our rules."
Ss shook his head. "I won''t go."
Baxter said coldly, "Think about it clearly. You won''t be able to be a practicing doctor in Lambda City if you refuse this offer!"
Ss said indifferently, "I''ll just beg for food if that happens."
Beg for food? Baxterughed. "Some things are easy on the surface, but you''ll be weeping when you actually do have to beg for food."
Ss smiled coldly. "Maybe you would, but I wouldn''t."
Baxter scoffed. "You''ll regret being so cocky!"
Seeing that his tactics wouldn''t work on Ss, Baxter turned to Matthew. "Are you the owner of this clinic?" Matthew nodded. "I am."
Baxter pointed at the hospital and said, "I''m the associate dean of that hospital right there. I''m formally telling you now that if you don''t want trouble, you should shut this down and leave."
Matthew said coldly, "And why would I do that?"
Baxter looked at him like he had two tails. "Do you know how many people you''re offending? It''s not a small number. It''s millions of people!
"Shut this ce down, now. If I see that you''re still operating tomorrow, you''ll meet a cruel end."
Matthew was outraged. This person was openly threatening him. Was this guy really a doctor? He was far scarier than even a gangster.
He finally understood the pressure
that Ss was facing. His blood boiled when he thought ofnovelbin
talented doctor being for suck a
for food out of the trash.
He looked at Baxter angrily and said, "And I''m telling you that I''m going to be operating as usual tomorrow."
Baxter looked at him in disgust. "You have a loud mouth, but it''s going to cost you your life. Fuck you, and your family too! You won''t know what hit you!"
There was a resounding p as Matthew struck Baxter on the face. "How dare you curse my family? You''d better shut the hell up!"
Baxter held his cheek, staring at Matthew in disbelief. "You''re fucking insane. How dare you hit me?"
There was another p as Matthew did it again. "I''ll p you every time you curse!"
Baxter hobbled backward. He grabbed onto one of his colleagues, bncing himself. "Fuck y-" Matthew was ring daggers at him, ready to strike. Baxter swallowed the rest of his words.
He retreated, staring at Matthew. Matthew''s eyes were sharp and piercing. He carried a dangerous aura around him. Baxter didn''t dare to stay here much longer. "You''ll... pay for this." With that, he turned and left hurriedly.
The health officials around him followed suit. They''d been officials for so long that they were used to their power. They were useless against someone who would actually fight.
The only thing they could do now was exact their revenge in other ways.
Watching them leave, Matthew turned and asked Ss, "Did you always run into problems like this before?"
