Chapter 270

Ss shook his head at Matthew''s words. "Easier said than done. I almost died just now. I don''t want to experience that again. What exactly is her goal? What does she want?"

Matthew had a clue, more or less. The rk family''s research on telomeres might be her motive. They seemed to have made a bit of progress on prolonging life.

The theory on telomeres was highly simr to the Gugleni Sect''s hypothesis. There was a hypothesis about telomeres after a person reached 30 years old, as long as their telomeres kept extending, they could be immortal. The Gugleni Sect believed humans were formed through the process of internal energies growing together.

After a person reached 30 years old, their internal energies would be unbnced, and their lifespan would be shortened.

If the weaker energy was nurtured and brought into bnce with the stronger energy, life would be prolonged.

Matthew suspected that the rk family intended to apply the Gugleni hypothesis to their telomere research.

He could tell Ss about that, so he did. "They want to study the secret of immortality."

Ss'' expression shifted dramatically. "They''re crazy. I can''t believe this kind of lunatic exists in this day and age. Have they got nothing better to do? Pursuing fanciful things like this will get a lot of people killed."

Matthew had never seen Ss so riled up. "Is it really that serious?"

Fear appeared in Ss'' eyes. "You have no idea. Every time someone researched that, many people died. I can''t believe in this age, where technology is advanced and they all but distrust traditional medicine, they still believe in such an absurd idea as immortality." Matthew patted Ss'' shoulder. "Their work has already yielded results. They managed to extend life expectancy by 1/24."

Ss was stunned for a moment, then smirked. "1/24. That''s only extending life by three or four years. Getting enough rest and watching your diet can prolong your life by five to ten years, at the very least. Their research is utter shit." Matthew looked surprised. Ss'' tone had amused him.

Ss turned back and saw Matthew''s expression. He coughed and said, "Let''s go back. This ce... It makes me uneasy." Matthew nodded. "Let''s go."

Back at the clinic, those who had been waiting in line to get treated were long gone.

    ret

An old woman noticed Ss was back. She stood up with a smile. was worried the stuff in the clinic would get stolen, so I''ve been keeping watch for you."

Ss thanked her profusely, treated her, and then saw her off.

Restless, he asked Matthew, "What should we do next?"

Matthew shrugged. "We''ll do whatever we have to." With that, he walked to a bench nearby andy down to rest his eyes.

Ss pursed his lips. He wasn''t in the mood to see any patients. So, he sat behind his desk, sighing deeply.

At 4:30 pm, Matthew pulled himself up. "I''m going home to pick up my kid."

Ss pointed at himself. "What about me?"

Matthew headed outside. "You''re an adult. Do whatever you want."

Ss trotted after him and said with a smile, "didn''t know you had a daughter. Girls are the sweetest. I''ll go buy some stuff and see your daughter."

Matthew was silent. He could tell Ss was lying. It was clear that he was afraid of being abducted again.

Ss'' fear wasn''t without reason. Several strangers had appeared in front of the clinic and kept looking in. They were certainly up to no good.

    Matthew drove away. He kept

surveying the road through the rearview mirror the entire way he saw no cars following him he

    finally felt relieved.
