The location of the drones projected points align to the exact north of the globe the sensors and the transcriber spells go active.
To get an accurate map the surveyor drone will need to fly low this means that each pass will record less information this in turn will result in a longer time to complete the survey than it might otherwise, thankfully I have time in spades as after I gained a certain amount of power I stopped aging.
It took many months for the survey to finally finish, the time while it was going on was spent meditating. In the end I could finally move forward on the project. The globe that holds the data is covered in colors, reds representing higher mana density areas with blues representing low density. Most of the high density areas are located around a 20 degree band centered over the equator, the oceans are mainly low density areas, as well as the more northerly or southerly locations though these locations do have a higher mana density than the oceans. There are several Outliers: Central Europe has an abnormally high mana density, As does south america, places in central russia, and some pacific islands, more specifically Iwo Jima, of the high density areas the pacific islands suit my goals the best, they are isolated and the are rather out of the way.
Overlaying the Mana levels onto the global map suggest that the island of Iwo Jima is the most promising location to search for an [Anchorpoint]. With this in mind, I pack up my supplies and formed a sheet of metal for transport. Then without further ado I began my journey towards the island of Iwo Jima. The journey was largely uneventful; there were several pests that needed to be slapped along the route I took. To alleviate boredom there was a rather entertaining encounter with a dragon, I’m sure something will find a use for it’s corpse, even if I don’t have any use for it.
Once I arrived at Iwo Jima I decided to clear the Island so I could have an easier time searching the island for the [Anchorpoint]. I used my powers to gain control of all the local metal, focusing on the metal in the island, then ripped it out of the earth. I then used the metal to form plating that could cover the footprint of the island. Using my Mana to reinforce these plates, I drove them under the island slightly above sea level then, with a bit of effort, picked up the island and moved it several kilometers to the side. Once I felt the island had been moved far enough I carefully dumped the island into the ocean and brought the plates back to the original position of the island. I used the plates to create a grid like structure that matched the outline of the island and had a surface in the center to stand on. I landed on the center of the platform, and brought some metal out of my storage space as well as a workbench and some scanners. I sent the scanners to scan the island one over each grid piece. Then using the scanners I set about recording the mana levels on the island using some metal to record the mana levels in a map that was formed of blocks of varying heights to represent Mana density. This was used to locate the area of the island with the highest mana density. Flying to the location that had the highest mana level, I used a sensor to create a more accurate map of the area. After I used this new map to determine the probable location of the [Anchorpoint], I set up more mana sensors in a vertical configuration. The data from the vertical mana sensors allowed me to pinpoint the location of the highest mana density on the island, in other words the [Anchorpoint]. The location of the [Anchorpoint] turned out to be several dozen meters above sea level. As it would be rather annoying to do detail work while also supporting a platform I began to build a tower I could stand on. Withdrawing steel beams from my storage I formed a metal platform just below the [Anchorpoint] and used the steel to form a base for the tower. This done I moved all of my equipment up to the platform I built on the tower and got to work.The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
I used a mana sensor on a pole and some chalk to mark out the boundaries of the [Anchorpoint] so I wouldn’t disturb it by accident, then I tried to use my mana on it. Upon injecting my mana into the [Anchorpoint] it was consumed by the [Anchorpoint], but as my mana was consumed I felt a sort of resonance, or bond with the [Anchorpoint] I continued to pour my Mana into it until I felt a sort of connection form with the [Anchorpoint].
As soon as the bond formed I understood several things(cleaner method of conveying this to the reader?) : First, the [Anchorpoint] was now mine, no one else could claim it while I still lived. Second, I gained understanding of the Aether, the Aether plane isn’t so much separate from our plane as distant this meant that it was separate from our reality without being a separate realm but it wasn’t something that could be easily interacted with. Third I learned that an [Anchorpoint], once claimed, could be moved so long as the minimal requirements for their formation are met.
Finally, I gained the knowledge of how formed. To sum it up: [Anchorpoints] were constructs that acted as bridges between the distance from our perception to the Aether. There was no greater intelligence behind their creation like might be the case in a book. The [Anchorpoints] were but a force of nature, or a natural phenomena and as a force of nature they formed from the environment, and it’s factors.
There seemed to be two ways they formed: first, in an area with forests the forest and the ecosystem could, over countless years, create a bridge from the accumulation of biomass and the nebulous concept of ‘Life Energy’, this is what happened in central europe, Brazil, and russia, possibly also Iwo Jima. The second way they could form seemed to be a mixture of factors: the magnetic field, the location, the amount of UV radiation and the nature of the aether, the fact that gravity/mass effects the distance. The second method seems like the more viable option, spells would allow me to generate a magnetic field and the UV radiation required. The location is a irrelevant point as I can artificially recreate the requirements that result from this factor. The final factor, the nature of the aether is the most complex, and hardest to deal with factor. The aether is affected directly by gravity, the higher the gravity the closer the aether is to our perception. As a result of this the Aether must be close at hand for an [Anchorpoint] to form, anything under a set gravitational force will cause the formation of the [Anchorpoint] to become impossible. The 1g measurement of earth just barely was over the limit. These factors mean that I will be able to get the Aether closer to me when I try to make my own, the good news that once the [Anchorpoint] is established I won’t need to do anything as the bridge will reinforce itself from the other side once it is formed. These things made matters much more simple, I could just focus on getting to the asteroid belt. Then once I’m in the asteroid belt I could just focus on setting up the minimum requirements for formation, then moving the [Anchorpoint] to the asteroid belt using the boond I made. With this knowledge in hand I could design a way to generate mana for my workshop in the asteroid belt.
