    Chapter 3: Breadwinner, Begin!

“Ah, crap. I have class this morning. This food is way too damn good to pass up, I’ll just skip. It should be fine, right?” Raven asked, fully expecting Rex to yank the food away and chide him for not attending.

    Rex just sat there silently.

Raven swallowed the food he had just shoved in his mouth.

“Actually, I think I might go today.” Raven said, concerned.

    “Mm.” Rex replied distantly.

Raven got dressed and ready to go.

“I’m heading out, I’ll be back later okay?” Raven asked.

“Yeah… just promise me you’ll come home safely this time.” Rex said.

“I….promise? Anyway, seeya Rexy!” Raven said, bolting away.

“Why yo-“ Raven heard Rex say as the door closed.

Raven headed for the college campus that he attended classes at. He wasn’t going there to actually attend class this time, though. This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it

“Yeah, Soyo should know at least a little bit on what I should do. No, first I’ll grab some books at the library. Maybe those can help me.” Raven said, sighing.

He headed off towards the college library.

When he arrived, he went to the medical section and started to look for materials on mental well being and depression, and chose a few to check out.

As he brought them to the checkout counter, a voice spoke to him.

“Raven? Are you doing alright? Those are some pretty heavy books.” The voice said.

“Oh, Soyo. I was actually going to go look for you after this. And don’t worry, I’m plenty strong, despite how I may seem!” Raven said.

“I didn’t mean the physical kind of heavy, Raven. That’s about depression and mental illness, right? What’s up with that?” Soyo asked.

“That’s why I wanted to look for you, actually. Let me just check these out so we can go somewhere else. It’s not exactly something I want to talk about in a public place like this.” Raven said.

“And you’re bringing it up with me, why?” Soyo asked.

“Because it has to do with Rex.” Raven replied.

    Soyo’s eyes widened slightly.

“Ah. I see. I’ll meet you out front. We can go and talk at the hill.” Soyo said.

    “Right. Fine.” Raven answered.

He checked out his books and left.

As he walked out of the door, Soyo yanked a book out of his hand.

“There. Lighter load now, right? Hurry up.” Soyo said.

They reached the hill and sat down.

“Now, tell me, what does any of this have to do with my brother?” Soyo asked.
