Chen was no longer in his seemingly unapproachable military uniform. No more cap and suit. Instead, he was in a simple white shirt and ck jeans while still retaining his warming smile.
That smile certainly came by hard, that Lu could no longer hold back her feelings as tears filled up her eyes.
Upon witnessing tears streaming down her cheeks, Chen wrapped his arm over her shoulders as they walked in. He flipped the switch to turn the lights on and shut the door gently.
He lowered his head then looked into her eyes as they stood very closely to each other.
Her eyes were bloodshot, clearly a sign of a hard weep.
It must be because of the passive-aggressive rtionship between Madam Xue and Huo Yunting. The spection ran painfully in his head.
It must have been a tough life for her...
“Sorry...I came backte.”
I should have been standing by her side when she was in such trouble, just like this...
Lu held her lips and said nothing as she shook her head in denial.
“The mission was too important. The organization has to do that for me.” Chen rified, “I’m sorry that you have to go through this...could you understand me?”
“...” She nodded. There was nothing much she could say anyway, considering how a single word she uttered likely would make herself burst into tears.
Her eyes partially opened, as she pondered, during which she felt the heat of a giant, protective palm sliding through her head, “You’ve grown up. You look more gorgeous than before too.” His voice rang kindly, “You are no longer that little princess who would rub her head in my chests all the time. You are much tougher.”
It was such an ambivalentbination where Chen retained that docile nature despite being a full-fledged military general, especially towards Lu. He always spoke to his lucky girl with an overflowing sense of pampering attention.
It wasplete silence from her yet he understood. He could feel what she was feeling.
He knew the situation.
They were lovers yet due to unforeseen circumstances, they had be uncle and niece.
It must be tough for her to ept the truth.
“Yang, could we turn the tide and turn back time? As long as you nod your little head, I’ll settle the family, for us.”
Nothing and no one would stop him from loving her.
He would annihte everything...as long as it pleased her.
Well, nheless, it was no longer the issue of whether she wanted it to happen.
I can’t be with him anymore...he’s too perfect to be tainted by me...
With that thought, her body straightened, as she made a few shudders.
“Yang?”
He did not expect such reaction from her.
Does that mean she’s giving up...on us?
Chen looked at Lu who was breathing in deeply, as if mustering the courage that she could in her entire life. She lifted her head and looked at him, “I...” Right when she could say a word, the door was mmed open.
Of course, the devil must be there, standing between the prince and princess.
It was Huo Yunting, who smiled at them with threatening frigidity.
The awkwardness almost made Lu jump out of the nearest window in the room.
Huo Yunting heard everything behind the door anyway.
I knew it! All this while, the Chen uttered by Lu in her dreams, is my brother after all!
What a tiny world, that she fell for another man in the family.
Huo Yunting sauntered towards them, in his ssic nonchnce, in which every step he made created a fissure in Lu’s heart.
She was not aware of how much of Chen’s confession was eavesdropped by him and she definitely did not want to gamble on that.
Anticipating a move from the devil, her heart raced.
Meanwhile, Chen could tell the abnormalities from his nephew who had always been that friendly, calm boy in the family, yet...
Is it because of Madam Xue that caused his discrimination towards Yang too?
Chen made his hypothesis, right when he stood before Lu and tried to utter a word, Huo Yunting turned to him and lifted corners of his lips higher, “Huo Chen, did you know that she’s owned?”
