Once, whenever she arrived at the dining table, a maidservant would pull the chair back for her, but nothing happened this time. Even her breakfast was not served on the table.

Lu Zhaoyang did not mind them. She only wanted to know how Huo Chen was doing right now.

She approached old Mrs Huo and bowed in greeting. “Grandma, may I know where he is?”

“Hah, so you do care about him!” The old woman chuckled unpleasantly as she put down her chopsticks. She eyed her coldly and said, “Did you think care about him when you ran away with him? Have you ever considered the consequences of desertion for him?”

    Desertion?

Lu Zhaoyang was surprised. He had said that he had taken care of everything...

“We are lucky that the current mayor was myte husband’s subordinate, or Chen would have been punished more severely! How can a captain abandon his post for a mere woman?!”

Old Mrs Huo felt more and more anger and disappointment as she spoke. She wanted to p that pretty face in front of her!

“I didn’t know...” Had she known that he was deserting the military, she would not have agreed to it. “Grandma, where is he now? Can I see him and put an end to this matter?”

She could not let things go without seeing him one more time.

“He is transported back to base under military orders, which no one can disobey! And you two, you must never see each other again!”

Old Mrs Huo looked away when she was done, but she did not feel like having anything anymore.

Lu Zhaoyang straightened herself and turned to leave.

Chen had gone back his camp so soon. What about his wounds?

She had caused Chen tomit this serious mistake.

They were no longer young like they used to be. Why did she act so impulsively...

Winter in the capital was cold, but even colder was the human heart.

Old Mrs Huo’s gaze pierced through Lu Zhaoyang with a sheer intensity of hatred. She looked like apletely different personpared to when she was a warm and amiable old woman.

Lu Zhaoyang knew that she had caused all this trouble. When she made the decision to leave, her best option was to march forth and not look back. All the attacks and usations she received now was the result of her turning back.

She just never expected to destroy Huo Chen’s future as well.

He had risked his life toplete his mission and earned his title as captain, but now his record was stained because of her.

“What are you standing there for? Something caught your eye?!”

Old Mrs Huo’s voice suddenly came from behind her. The olddy had wanted to take a walk after breakfast but came upon Lu Zhaoyang again. What a curse!

Lu Zhaoyang looked around her and noticed that she was at the stone pathway in the rear courtyard.

She hade here because no one else was.

    She turned and greeted, “Grandma.”

The old woman humphed coldly. “Don’t call me that. I don’t know you well enough to be called that.”

When old Mrs Huo said that, the two maidservants following behind her threw a merciless and condescending look at Lu Zhaoyang.

She had never been a true member of the Huo family. She was only ever the daughter-inw.

“Madam.” Lu Zhaoyang changed her address smoothly and then took her leave.

She understood how unweed she was in the family right now. If old Mrs Huo did not want to see her, then she will try to stay out of sight.

Huo Zhenning and Xue Yuming were not in the house. They probably did not want to see her too.

Even the servants showed less respect for her now. Some of them even rolled their eyes at her.
