Chapter 36

    Chapter 36:

    ? ? ? ? ?

Alice was surprised to see him.

She had only intended to pick up some topical medicine and somehow she had run into Caden so soon. What bad luck she had had!

After everything that had happened the night before, guilt washed over her every time Caden appeared. She instinctively took a step back.

Then, she stopped and questioned her reaction. It was ridiculous to feel this way after sleeping with him. Why should she be afraid?

Alice looked down and returned to her original position.

Shortly after, Caden walked in silently.

Hank, not wanting to intrude on his moment, made up an excuse to leave. “Mr. Ward, I need to use the bathroom. You two can go ahead,” he said.

After Hank left, Caden pressed the elevator button. As the doors closed, Alicia felt the air grow thin around her.

It was then that Caden noticed the paper in her hand. Alicia quickly put it behind her back, but he had already glimpsed what it was.

In a calm tone, Cadenmented, “You don''t need to take birth control pills.”

Alice paused for a moment, surprised by his answer. “Why do you say that? Do you have azoospermia?”

Caden acknowledged herck of understanding, but chose not to reprimand her. “I didn''t finishst night.”

Alice''s eyes widened at the abruptness of his response. She replied doubtfully, "But I thought it was rather intense."

Caden gave him a sidelong nce.

    "I relied on different methods."

Alice felt a little perplexed by his answer.

Caden was the only man she had ever shared intimate moments with, and those experiences had happened twice, both times shrouded in uncertainty. Her understanding of such subjects was limited.

“I… what methods did you use?” he asked hesitantly.

The moment she spoke, Caden found himself reliving the vivid moments of the previous night.

His expression darkened slightly. “You really don''t understand.”

Alice''s ears reddened with embarrassment. At first she hadn''t understood the situation, but his piercing gaze filled her with unease.

“Huh? What do you mean I don''t understand? “I was just messing with you,” she replied, trying to appear nonchnt as she ruffled her hair and cleared her throat. “I get it. Thanks for trying.”

Caden chose not to call her out on her disappointment. Although Alicia''s words came out with conviction, her face betrayed her embarrassment. It was clear she wasn''t being sincere.

However, as strange as it seemed, her asional nonsense made Caden smile. It was enough to lighten his bad mood.

Caden had a serious expression as he joked, “Oh yeah? Then tell me, where have I used it?”

Alice''s demeanor faltered. "Is it really appropriate for us to discuss this?"

    Caden chuckled.

"We''ve already slept together twice. What''s so inappropriate about that?"

    What the devil…?

Alicia stared at the floor numbers on the elevator, feeling as if each passing second was stretching out into an eternity. Damn! Now she wished she had joined Hank during her sudden bathroom break.

    The elevator fell silent again.

Caden added: “If you are really curious, just check the security footage at home.”

    Alice was surprised once again.

"How do you know I have surveince at home?"

Caden''s face remained impassive. “Not only am I aware of the cameras, but I also enjoyed watching your enthusiastic effortsst night, Miss Bet.”

The warmth that had just faded from Alice''s cheeks returned.

He stared at the crack in the wall, wishing he could transform into a cockroach and slide inside it.

However, the reality was not so simple. She could not turn into a cockroach and had to exin with a calm expression: "I was drunk. It was unintentional."

A slight smile yed across Caden''s lips, hinting at a memory. “It really caught me off guard.”

    Oh God!

His ambiguous words filled Alice with shame.

With a soft ding, the elevator doors opened.

Caden walked out, ending the useless conversation.

    Alice followed him.

"Caden, we''re both adults. It''s normal for things to get a little out of hand. Let''s pretendst night never happened," she suggested.

Caden remained indifferent. “What else is there?”

Alice let out a sigh of relief.

But before she could finish sighing, Caden added, “Three times is the limit, though. If it happens again, I won’t be so amodating.”

    Alice looked up.

The sunlight softened Caden''s eyes, but it couldn''t hide the intensity of his aggression.

“What do you mean?” I have asked.

If there was a third time, what would happen? Given their identities and their rtionship, what could possibly happen?

Caden responded cryptically, “Looks like you’re already anticipating our third time.”

Alice felt a flicker of surprise.

Why did your initial reaction involve thinking about what might happen after a third meeting?

How could there be a third time?

Alice looked away. “Don''t get ahead of yourself. “I’m leaving.”

After saying what she needed, she gradually moved away from Caden, and they parted ways.

Later, Caden returned to the car, where Hank wore a somewhat regretful expression.

"Mr. Ward, I thought you were going to take Ms. Bet home."

And then, he was able to take things further.

Caden grabbed his workptop. “If you love driving people home so much, I’ll get you a job as a driver.”

So Hank decided to drop the subject and asked, “But what about your illness? Are you going to keep taking your medication?”

    Caden frowned at that.

He didn''t care much about the illness. He was willing to take the medication just so he wouldn''t worry Ciara at home.

He spoke in a deep voice: "I will continue taking the pills."

Hank advised him, “Medication can be harmful to your body and has not been effective. You have been single all these years. Why don’t you explore other options?”

Caden replied nonchntly, “Romantic rtionships don’t mean much to me.”

Whether she had one or not was the same as him.

He was content as long as Alice stayed out of his life.

Hank felt a surge of emotion. “You can''t stay single forever.”

    Caden''s expression hardened.

I remembered what he had just said to Alice. It was not something he had said in jest.

Three times was the limit. If Alice crossed that line, he wouldn''t be able to contain himself.
