Chapter 27: This Knife is Meant for You

The night was thick with darkness.

At this moment, a murderous aura permeated the Stone House Village, with heavy killing intent enveloping the entire settlement.

Soon, a horrifying scene unfolded. The lids of all the coffins in the stone houses opened by themselves, and living dead people - the villagers - crawled out from inside.

Each person moved stiffly, like zombies, walking out in large numbers.

"My God, how many people are there?" Fan Quguang exclaimed from a distance as he witnessed this scene.

Shen Yue was also sweating profusely, staring intently at the spectacle.

It turned out that all these villagers were inside the coffins. Shockingly, more than one villager crawled out of each coffin. Shen Yue even saw several people emerge from a single coffin.

These people had blank stares and stiff movements. They wandered around the village as if searching for something.

Behind them, standing at a high point, were Number 75, Chen Si, and Zhou Tongting.

"Brother, these... villagers are too many. We... we..." Chen Si''s voice trembled. His face was pale, clearly frightened by the horrific scene before him.

Beside him, Zhou Tongting tightly clutched his arm, not daring to utter a word.

Who could have imagined that this small Stone House Village could harbor so many living dead?

"Don''t be afraid, these are all dead people," came Number 75''s voice.

It''s precisely because they''re dead that it''s scary!

"Dead people..." Chen Si still asked, "They won''t attack us, will they?"

Number 75''s expression changed: "If we can''t find Shen Yue and the others, we''ll all die!"

    "What? But you promised me..."

"Does my promise matter now? We''ve only given that female ghost one life, it''s far from enough!" Number 75''s gaze fell on Zhou Tongting behind Chen Si. "You''re really brainless. Listen to me, offer her up too!"

    "No, Chen Si, don''t..."

Zhou Tongting''s face turned white, and she immediately hid behind Chen Si, her hands firmly grasping his clothes.

"Big brother, let''s find Shen Yue and the others first. I''ll go look for them right away."

Not daring to look at Number 75''s expression, Chen Si hurriedly ran off with Zhou Tongting.

"Hmph!" Number 75 snorted coldly, looking at the Stone House Village before him, his eyes filled with a chilling ruthlessness.

Fan Quguang was tightly clutching the wild grass beside him. He and Shen Yue were currently hiding in a patch of tall grass. But seeing the living dead searching nearby, Fan Quguang was getting restless.

"Why hasn''t Kun Yao come back yet?"

When they escaped, Kun Yao suddenly told them to go ahead, saying she needed to get something from somewhere.Love this novel? Read it on Royal Road to ensure the author gets credit.

There was no time for explanations; Kun Yao left after saying this. Fan Quguang admired her courage.

"I don''t know either. Let''s wait a bit longer," Shen Yue said in a low voice, her eyes fixed ahead.

"But they''re coming this way," Fan Quguang said anxiously.

As they spoke, a villager walked stiffly towards them. Fan Quguang didn''t dare breathe, his heart in his throat.

The villager walked straight towards them, stumbling over something but quickly continuing to advance.

Three steps away, two steps, one step...

Shen Yue suddenly stood up, a flash of light in her hand as she lunged at the villager. Fan Quguang covered his mouth to prevent making a sound. Before he could react, he saw Shen Yue cover the villager''s mouth with one hand while quickly slicing the villager''s neck with the cleaver in her other hand.

The cut was made, but no fresh blood flowed out.

Shen Yue frowned. As soon as she made the cut, she smelled a strong odor of decay. With a forceful move of her right hand, the head in front of her fell off.

She immediately let go of the living dead body and kicked it aside.

"You... you..." Fan Quguang was so shocked he couldn''t speak, his finger trembling as he pointed at Shen Yue.

Shen Yue glared at him: "What are you pointing at?"

Fan Quguang immediately retracted his hand, unable to speak.

Shen Yue crouched back down, wiping the knife on the villager''s body before bringing it back. She then checked if her hands had any dirt on them.

The villager''s corpse was visibly decaying at an accelerated rate, emitting a putrid smell. Fan Quguang was too scared to look anymore and involuntarily shifted his gaze to Shen Yue.

"What exactly did you do before?"

Hearing this question, Shen Yue glanced at Fan Quguang and said flatly, "I killed people."

Seeing Shen Yue''s fierce gaze, Fan Quguang weakly said, "Okay, now I finally understand why you took the cleaver."

When they left, Shen Yue had casually grabbed a cleaver. He thought it was just for a little girl''s self-defense. But now...

This knife was meant for you to wield.

In the following moments, a few more living dead wandered over, only to be dispatched by Shen Yue in the same manner.

Fan Quguang watched from the side, his mouth twitching.

Soon, several highly decomposed corpses lay in front of Fan Quguang, along with a neat row of severed heads.

Whether intentional or not, Shen Yue had placed all the corpses on Fan Quguang''s side. For each villager, she had chopped off their head and arranged them in a tidy row in front of Fan Quguang. There were already four or five of them.

After doing all this, Shen Yue returned to her original position.

Her gaze accidentally met that of the little ghost on Fan Quguang''s shoulder. The little ghost immediately disappeared.

Shen Yue noticed that when she turned her head and stopped looking at Fan Quguang''s side, the little ghost would climb back up again.

    Was it... scared of her?

Shen Yue looked at herself, then at the row of corpses on the ground, and silently wiped her cleaver.

Fortunately, she had grabbed the cleaver when passing through the kitchen on their way out. Otherwise, she wouldn''t have had a handy weapon.

She didn''t want to use her dagger to cut off the heads of those living dead.

After dealing with several living dead, this area was now clear. It would likely be discovered soon.

Shen Yue was getting anxious; Kun Yao hadn''t returned yet.

And the decaying corpses beside them were emitting an increasingly strong odor. They couldn''t stay here any longer.

"Let''s go," Shen Yue said, unable to bear the smell any longer and choosing to leave quickly.

But Fan Quguang seemed to have spotted something and quickly grabbed her, pointing in a direction.

"Hey, look, it''s Kun Yao. She''s here."

Shen Yue looked and indeed saw Kun Yao, though she was carrying something in her hand.

Kun Yao quickly approached them, but she also carried the smell of the living dead corpses. It wasn''t hard to guess that she must have dealt with a few as well.

As soon as Kun Yao arrived, she noticed Shen Yue''s handiwork on the ground.

She looked up at Shen Yue, who had hidden the hand holding the cleaver behind her back, feigning innocence.

Fan Quguang, on the other hand, directly pointed at Shen Yue: "You''re not mistaken, she did all of this."

Shen Yue shot him a look, and Fan Quguang immediately behaved.

"For you," Kun Yao said without further comment, handing over the items she was carrying.

Shen Yue took it in her hand. It was a cool, white... bone? More accurately, a knife made from bone.

    Fan Quguang received one too.

    "What''s this bone... for?"

"With this, you only need to make a small cut on them to cause damage. You don''t need to chop off their heads anymore," Kun Yao explained, demonstrating by making a small cut on one of the highly decomposed corpses with her bone knife. The corpse seemed to evaporate rapidly, like water meeting intense fire.

Soon, only the flattened wild grass remained where the corpse had been, leaving no other trace.

"Where did you get these from?"
