“Well, it’s sleeping. I don’t believe it’s made to sleep.
They normally snore them, and give of a Zzzz or something.”
”Yes, I know. But Abra should levitating a bit at least.
It always does. It’s like, you know?”
”An Exeggcute looking happy?”
”…Well, I guess that fits.”
”Is it really that bad?”
”Honestly? I don’t know, but it is very worrying.”
”Okay, what should we do?”
”Haaa, your very calm, he? Fine, let’s look up something.”
Sabrina points the Camera of her Pokédex at Abra den makes a Photo.
Besides general Information of Abra, estimated size, weight, strength, weakness etc. a condition section was added.
Status Effect: Encore, Disable
Not revealing it to Vanessa, Sabrina took in a sharp Breath.
She knows that tactic. And a Pokémon which can learn both Moves.
Vulpix at best, Ninetails at worst.
But it shouldn’t be able to learn on of them naturally? Encore should have been TM exclusive right?
This is one of the tactics she actually knows, even only having hear Rattata beating Arceus from quick surfing, not diving deeper.
Well, not that she searched for it, she was just curious if that would actually work.
And her first time learning about struggle, but that’s beside the matter.
”Vanessa.”
”Call me Nessy, and yes?”
”There might be a Pokemon lying near which put Abra into this State. Probably a fire Type.”
”Oh, how did you find that out? Is there some kind of Pokemon liking to prey on Abra,”
*cough cough* *cough* “I deduced it because of two moves which could do that and one Pokemon which loves in Kanto which can learn both.”
Right, how do Abra’s fly? They can’t have levitate.
But didn’t Abra need TMs to learn something besides Teleport?
Because of can only think of Telekinesis to do that, which is a move.
”It shouldn’t take to long until it recovers.
Just be careful what you think about, Abra’s should be able to read mind.”
”Heeee,… WHAAAAAAT!!! They can do something that dangerous?!”
”Well, they largely depend on that and Teleport. They just don’t have the com, get away from there!”
Sabrina grabs Vanessa and jumps to the side, just away from a large ember shooting at their Face.
At least she can be pretty sure it will be only a Vulpix, since it was “only” Ember.
Hey, wait a moment, isn’t Take Down to high levels for Bulbasaur right now?
”Vuuuu!”
Quick Attack? It’s getting close to us!
Not directly hitting us but perfect distance for retreat and attack!
Dammit!
”Growlithe!”
”Growwwwwl!”
Before Sabrina can decide the next course of action to avoid the ember Bullet, a red dog-like Pokemon jumps in the Way.
Instead of leaving any mark, it harmlessly absorb it into its fur and flashing in a fiery red right.
Flash Fire, increasing damage of fire type Moves by 50% after getting hit by a fire move, additional immunity to them. This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.
”Now, Ember!”
”No!”
To late, Growlithe fires of a shot of small flames, smaller then Vulpix’s.
Said Vulpix looks unimpressed, still standing there as if it doesn’t even exist.
Only for the same spectacle to repeat with Vulpix as it did with Growlithe.
Vanessa and Growlithe both let out an stupefied sound.
”Do you know how many Pokémon there are in Kanto who have Flash Fire?
Quite a bit actually, under the Fire types. Ponyta, Growlithe, Flareon and Vulpix, plus Evolution.
Not many fire Pokemon left who can’t have it.”
”Ah, it’s doing something!”
”Probably Encore. Smart one. Now it’s probably going to use it’s bought time for Tail Swipe.”
Before Sabrina even finished, Vulpix already made its move, ready to use Tail Swipe.
It looks a bit annoyed at being predicted, but a flash of astonishment replaces it as Sabrina calls Bulbasaur.
But at seeing the obvious plant type Pokémon, arrogance replaces it.
”Why don’t you call Tauros?”
”Tauros is gone, he didn’t want to be part of my Team, so he is on his Way to a better Place.”
”Heeeeee?!”
”Growl! Don’t let it keep up Advantages.”
”Buuuuuu!”
Before even questioning hat is going on, Bulbasaur let’s put a cute cry.
It certainly is easy to recognise an Enemy who already looks at you condescending when you just entered.
Not only did it lower Vulpix’s Attack, but also let’s take Vine fall out.
But it doesn’t give it to much Attention, focusing on a second Tail Swipe agains Growlithe.
Both Growlithe and Vanessa are a bit out of it, understanding it can’t use Ember but everything else fails.
”When you are finished, could you use Howl or Leer? And position Growlithe between Bulbasaur and Vulpix.
They could cover each other.”
”Ah, yes. Growlithe!”
”Grow!”
Told as to do, Vanessa gave her Signal.
Sabrina rethinks everything.
How possible, Vanessa should use Leer.
If Growlithe uses buffs or debuffs, it could be locked again with Encore.
Slowly wearing it down when everyone fights at least for the first Time with each intern can make them prone to mistakes.
Bulbasaurs range is lacking.
So their chance is to bluff. To make the impression of having a solid ability to defeat her.
The Battlefield was even out, especially since Bulbasaur did a second Growl.
”Vuuu!”
”Growlithe, don’t let one of them past!”
Vulpix fired of two Embers, both in direction of Bulbasaur.
Growlithe jumped in the Way of both, but Sabrina doesn’t look at that.
Whole the Direction was right, they weren’t directly aimed. A distraction, Sabrina believes.
And true enough, Vulpix tried to get close to Bulbasaur with Quick Attack.
Thankfully, the plan failed. Sabrina already talked to Bulbasaur of using his Vines more passively and efficient, letting them out nur be ready to move at Moments notice.
But it seems it understood something different, since it sneakily spread out his Vines, snatching Vulpix’s ground under her feet after steeping on them.
He couldn’t grab her, it seems and ensnare the hostile Pokémon, but it did trashed their Plans.
Not only Vulpix’s, but also Sabrina’s to use the chance for Tackle, maybe Take Down.
“Vuuuu!”
The shame seems to be to much to bear, now looking clearly pissed at Bulbasaur.
But before it could do anything more threatening then glare, a dog jumps at her and begins to Bite.
Frightened, or maybe because of the Effect of the Move, the Pokémon jumps back frightened.
Sabrina sees something wriggling between the Grass, near Vulpix and sees her Chance.
She is unsure if a Pokeball would work, but she feels greedy. And is really unsure how they should, proceed if it doesn’t work.
”Vine Whip! Ensnare it!”
”Buuuulbaaaa!”
Quickly noticing something wrong, Vulpix uses Quick Attack to get away.
What neither Pokémon nor Trainer expected is how nasty Bulbasaur could be.
Instead of trying to tie it down where it was, it prepared a loop to where Vulpix hastily jumped, making Vulpix jump in the Trap head first.
Sabrina throws her Pokeball with much force, hoping it will fly straight at least.
But something unexpected happened.
Near Vulpix, roughly a metre away, Abra appears. And it seems to use psychic Powers to free it, looking at her(?) direction.
And even more surprising is how of course the Ball flies, directly at Psychic Pokemon.
Probably reading Minds right now, it hastily looks at her Direction.
Which was a mistake, as the Pokeball directly crashes into its forehead.
The dramatic sounding “Abraaaaa!” transmitted its agony as it was sucked in the Pokeball.
Vulpix and Sabrina look at the Ball dumbfounded, not properly processing what happened.
Then, the ching resounded, marking a successful capture.
Sabrina begins to understand even less now.
Vanessa meanwhile readied her Ball and throws at Vulpix.
Her Aim is much more steady, not to forceful like Sabrina’s.
But her target still had more than enough presence of Mind to shoot it with Ember, bringing it of Course.
”Nooo Fair! You can luckily capture an Abra but I struggle with an already trapped Pokemon!”
”V, Nessy. I don’t understand myself what happened.”
